  1. Ok,

That's why I don't come here that often because arguing with some people that are always around this forums is just pointless.

Jarno you are trying to "prove" what suit I was flying and you are so sure and persuasive that you even make me question my self. At this point I really don't know what I was flying so Ill try to find an answer. :S

I invite you to look at the bottom right corner of the picture you keep referring to:
    https://scontent-b-ams.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/559426_10153291187235571_1486096952_n.jpg

Do you notice the Probase water mark? I will guess that that picture was from another event.:o

But you'r probably right, we all know you think you are always right.

I have two identical suits, one a BIG MATTRESS wish I love (Apache Jedi) and a smaller one (Apache Scorpion).

I switch suits half way in the competition to the Scorpion, I used the smallest suit in the competition. I was hoping that smaller suit with less drag would help me.

I really think there is not such a thing as the fastest suit, what can be a fast suit for a pilot with X body type and X weight might not be a fastest suit for another pilot with Y body type and Y weight.

I really don't know all the answer and I hope I will never get to the point of expending endless amounts of time pretending to win pointless arguments in a forum. Meanwhile I will be jumping, flying and doing what I love.:)

    No, it doesn't.
In fact very FEW of my log books have any detail beyond date and jump number unless it's memorable.
    :S

If I need an interview with USPA credentials then I'm at the wrong DZ. Possibly confused over licensing needs as well.

Again, PAPER log books are WORTHLESS.

Note to self - on next trip to random dz, create a good log book on the way.
    [:/]

Is funny, next time you can go first to the gearshop, buy a logbook, filled up the first page and signed and this would be more valid to them :S

    6300 jumps

I would be quite confused to not be able to jump at a new to me dz.

A paper logbook is worthless. In other words...if you really need me to produce one..."I uh ... left it in my car! Yea that's it" (come on man, we need our logbooks in the car)
10 minutes later, nice log book all filled out and signed.

    :S:S:S

We can usually go around the lack of a log book by calling the last DZ you jumped at to verify you're current, instead of needing a log book. However add in a WS and more is required, like a personal interview. For all I know 5800 of your 6300 jumps could have been tandems. A log book would have your FFC signed and dated, as well as other details about your jumps.

To be honest it was quite entertaining, It felt like you guys where looking for excuses not to let me jump because I showed up with a WS.

    The log book:
    I showed a:
    D
    Coach
    AFF Instructor
    Pro

Two different digital altimeters and even dated video to prove that I was current.

I showed web pages where people referred to find Wing Suit instructors, I showed jumps I have participated on, a local WS jumper came to my help and toald the DZ manager and S&TA that I was qualify. The S&TA told that I had to exit while seated, wish I reply that I would be happy to do so.

At that point was when the Dz manager started literally crying, shaking and saying that she was going to lose her job.

So after waiting for almost 4 hours I decided I had better use of my time.

In the not-too-distant past... maybe 3 months ago... you stopped by our DZ and you didn't like our WS rules. One of the most basic rules: You must have a log book. You were made aware of these rules before you even drove to our DZ, but you didn't produce a log book. We also require personal approval from the DZO. He asks you some questions, checks you out to make him confident you won't wreck the airplane, etc. Our DZO was out of town that day.

You filmed a video on your way home, saying you'd been wrongly discriminated against as a wingsuiter, and you shared that with FB. Because you had been made aware of these rules before you came here, and you didn't bother to schedule an appointment with the DZO or bring a log book, I don't believe a word you're saying about trying to convince Lodi to use strict rules.

    Let me enlighten you:

3 Months agoPI went to your dropzone. Few days prior to go to your DZ I call your dropzone and asked about the WS rules. I was informed to come a little early because I would have to be pre-approved.

I show up, I was receive by the DZ Manager who called the DZO to come and inspect me he was out of the DZ.

I filling up a regular waiver, show my licence and certifications, show my packing card, I was request to show my AAD, I was Request to turn on my AAD, I was request to show that my AAD was not a faulty unit (service Bulletin). After this I was force to proved that I was capable of flying a wing suit.

When we got to the logbook I had forgotten my physical logbook, but I keep an electronic logbook in my computer, also I showed my Protrack and Alti track (Their dates match I had jumped a few days ago) I also show a dated video to prove that I was current, also all my licences and ratings where up to date.

After doing all this and waiting already for 3 hours and a half for the DZO I decided to leave.

My question was simple, why would you have a manager if they can't make decisions?

Yes the situation in Lodi sucks, but when WS where allowed you didn't have to get bill to approve you, he had people to do so. ;)

  5. Getting back to the original question (The mediators of the forum could do a better job keeping in track the conversation instead of letting their bias lead their fingers)

Yes WS are ban at lodi, we are experiencing more and more people showing up with high performance WS and not enough jumps under their belt. Also more and more people jumping incorrect set up for their WS needs.

This lead to bill to prohibit WS to everyone. I have been trying to get him to consider more strict rules and regulations but it seems like he had had enough with wing suiters.

We do a good job in here regulating, there is a good amount of senior WS pilots and we don't experience close call with stabilizer or non of that. People are always looking after each other. But, well you can't fix stupid!

When Bill banned WS people quickly transfer to their tracking suits, we had a visitor jumper who was flying her tracking suit and her pattern was not good. She was informed by couple of senior jumpers that she needed to change her patter and try to get closer to the DZ. She end up landing out and hooking her self in.

So after this, Bill decided No Tracking Suit either, in fact no tracking jumps either.

    So as it today:
    - You can't fly your WS in Lodi
    - You can track with a tracking suit in Lodi
    - you can't do tracking dives in Lodi

I will be jumping and expanding to other dropzones around the area. More and more jumpers are going to Davis and we had 9 WS pilots the other day during a weekday. ;)

    I hope this helps

HELP our sport, if you have Twitter re-tweet the post below. Let's link @CBSSF with hashtag #poorjournalism.

Lets show media that we are not going to allow them to walk all over our sport any more. I'm sick and tired to this sensationalist crap due to the ignorance of journalists and the stupidity of some.

  10. Past WS records.

Some of the fallowing records are posted as un-official or unknown due to two factors:
A ) No entity or organizations had stand by the results or endorse the claim.
B ) There is no sufficient evidence to support the claim. GPS Data or complete uninterrupted raw footage of the jump.
At no point we are attempting to discredit any of the people feature in the un-official or unknown record, we are simply stating the fact that the record have not yet been approved by an organization or we have fail to find the GPS supportive data or the complete raw supportive footage.

  11. Hi Everyone,

So is official, We where able to break the 3 Guinness World records we where attempting.
    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=335820606486310&set=a.333520503382987.73435.333135326754838&type=1&theater

As I promise, Im releasing all the data and footage. Im doing this in an attempt to get people to release their footage and data openly to the community so we can evaluate results.

On April 20 and 21, 2012 in the department of La Guajira in Colombia, Jhonathan Florez broke three world records in wingsuit flight. Florez jumped from more than ten miles high (35.000 Ft) with temperatures of -45 degrees to break the
    following records:

    • Greatest distance flown in a wing suit. Florez achieved 16.31 miles, the earlier record was 14.04 miles.
    • Longest freefall time. Florez flew for 9 minutes 6 seconds, the earlier record was 6 minutes.
    • Longest total distance traveled while in freefall. Florez achieved 17.52 miles, the earlier record was 16.06 miles.

In order to achieve these new records, the support of: Coldeportes and Indportes Antioquia, The Colombian Army / Aviation Division, La Asociacion Protectoras del Soldado.

We also had support from private companies such as: Tony Suits (Wing Suits), GoPro (Cameras), Tonfly (Helmets), United Parachute Technology (Containers), Flysight (GPS), Spy Optics (Glasses & Googles), Cypres (AAD), Larsen &
    Brusgaard (Audible & Altimeter).

I will be submit the raw video in about a week due to commitments of exclusivity with other projects.

  12. I don't know why people get so offended by mikes question?

Judging by the amount of people who have already answered, it is obvious that there are some people out there who believe that his poll is not that damaging or tasteless.

I can tell by my own experience that getting involved in high stress projects like this, questions like the ones mike is posting are not that far off. We height the possibilities and the ones mike has presented are not far off.

I really think people should apply some vagisil extra strength and try to answer the poll and stop being such trolls.

  13. Hi,

I'm just finally walking out of this project, it was allot of work, Mentally and physically. For know is not in my near future any records, but I always try to out do my self, so there might be a chance in the future where Ill go and try to break those, Who knows....

We have big plans to innovate and to create new flying stuff in the wing suit scene.

I truly love flying and inspiring people to dream and to fly. So my plans for the future are simple. Keep flying, keep dreaming, keep innovating.

In the States we will be writing for Parachutist, there is so much behind the scenes of this record, It was such an honor to be part
of this project, In the article we will disclosed all the social aspects of it.

  14. Hi,

I just finished a project I was working on. The objective was to try to set 3 new skydiving records.

    1. Longest Total Distance Traveled while in freefall (16.06 mi (25.85 km))
    2. Longest Freefall time (6 Min)
    3. Greatest Horizontal Distance Flown in a Wing Suit (14.35 miles (23.1 km))

In this project I teamed up with the Colombian Army Aviation wing (Damas protectoras del Soldado), Coldeportes and Indeportes Antioquia. Additionally, I had support by GoPro, Tonfly, United Parachute Technology, Flysight, Spy Optics, Cypres, L&B larsen and brusgaard, Pete Swan Rigging, Zak Tassier and Tony Suits.

I was able to perform two jumps at 35.000 feet above La Guajira, Colombia using my Tony Suit Apache with a skydiving handles modification that has always worked for me.

In the first jump I when for delay time and in the second day I went for distance. On the distance day I only had a 30 knots tail wind. This wasn't an optimal scenario since the past high altitude distance record was set with high winds at 100 - 120 knots.

The Flysight GPS was sent to me in a sealed and signed box that was handed to the Colombia S&TA guy, who opened the box and made sure that the units were never in my possession or near by a computer. The units were placed in my suit once at altitude and removed from me both times the helicopter came to pick me up.

The data was sent to Flysight where it was analyzed. The following results were given to us by Flysight:

    Jump on April 20:
    Freefall of 546.7 Seconds - 9Min 6Sec

    Jump on April 21:
Horizontal Distance of 16.31 Miles (26.257 Km)
Total Distance Flown of 17.52 Miles (28.196 Km)

As it is right now, we are applying for Guinness Records and waiting for their review and approval with the results listed above for the following categories:

-Longest Total Distance Traveled while in freefall (17.52 Miles (28.196 Km))
    -Longest Freefall time (9Min 6Sec )
-Greatest Horizontal Distance Flown in a Wing Suit (16.31 Miles (26.257 Km))

I want to thank everyone in this community who supported me, all my friends who helped me train, all the companies who believed in me and in this project.

I will be posting the video teaser link here soon. I will display the GPS analysis once the Guinness Officials allow me to.

If you want to see a little video we made pre-jump

Records are meant to be broken. There are people who are always going to be better than you. I know it is just a matter of time before someone takes one of these ones out. All I can say is, Power to you brother or sister!! if there is anything from my experience that you may want to know to surpass and to take our sport further, please let me know.

We will be writing a more detailed article in multiple magazines. So stayed tuned!

To all of you thank you!

you still didn't explain the difference between Apache and Apache XRW

Tony posted this on a FB thread that had a picture of a Apache XRW suit: "it has 4" less arm sweep, 3" higher arm ribs, a cambered airfoil and the X Bird leg, gives it more range"

    Scott C.

The x bird leg wing gives it better horizontal speed when flying with canopys but still has amazing apache speed when flying by itself.

The intake has change and it provide amazing pressurization. The side laterals are bigger giving it more pop. The trailing edge of the arm wing has been extended.
