  1. Welcome to the forums, just be very careful with Skydive Miami, I went there on may 15 2002 for a tandem, that's all I wanted to do, and now I have 385 jumps Say hay to everybody there from a swiss guy who did 3 tandems in one day. BTW if you manage to get any info about a nice miss who was jumping there, Kimmy was her name and she was a sargeant in the army, we had a talk about military career, and now I should become a captain by the end of the year... P.S. ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

    wingloading ??

Ok thanks for the info and for rectifying some false ideas. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  3. Isn't this why you are taught to disconnect the RSL in high winds, water landings etc ??? I nearly had to chop my main, being dragged on my back on 20 meters or so and when I put the hand on the pillow, the canopy stopped. But I had no RSL scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  4. I don't like the bumpers. I don't like to have the slider above my head scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  5. Knabe (posting on the french forum) does it like that. That is not the way I have been taught, it looks very "napoleonian" and I wouldn't want to try it. With the technique I have been taught in a Fly your Body approved school, it seems to me the upper body can get straighter much easier than with one arm in front one arm back scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  6. and the picture of your avatar has been taken just after you seen it ??? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

    wingloading ??

from the experience I have, lighter loaded canopies tended to open brisker, and heavily loaded canopies tended to snivel more... but maybe it's also due to the different type of canopy. I dunno, that's why I ask scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  8. Welcome to the forums. BTW talking about the POPS, I think they write to you once you enter your 40th year... Do they automatiacally catch newbies above 40 ?? and check in the gathering forum the adress for the pops world meet. I should be working/helping there, pushing the wheelchairs on teh plane and kicking the oldies out once at altitude scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

    wingloading ??

what is a usual wingloading for bASE ?? do you use different size canopies depending on the altitude of the object/type of jump ?? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  11. not at all... just imagine how your suit is protctive??? not much unless it's kevlar pants you're wearing... the only thin is your back really sweats on the nylon... and you might catch a cold with the dampness and the temperature/wind once you're out.... I was doing the rabbit on a 7 way track (4 girls involved which is really a big number of girls for a track at my DZ) and it was a great jump. Feels soooo god to have only your body to fly... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  12. sorry for him, and for you who saw that. very good reason to change lines scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  14. but it's a 100th jump ! That was also the excuse I found for mine... But got my vengeance for my 200th which was in june with a beautiful weather and temperature. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  15. CHICKEN homophobia can not be a reason for that. Unless they consider, lets say a footballers pack like a bunch of gays touching their asses etc... (BTW I think the ARE wusses, cause they need all these protections at least rugbymen, which are real men, don't need all these protective gear) Oh and by the way, we have a female AFF instructor at our DZ (and a charming one), but it might be a long distance for them to cross the pond and jump in our Swiss mountains scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  16. GWB is a bad boy... we should apply a censorship to all he says... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  17. FAA Part 105.49.4.ii states: "The reserve parachute must be packed in accordance with the foreign parachutist's civil aviation authority requirements, by a certificated parachute rigger, or any other person acceptable to the Administrator." A certificated parachute rigger is required to place a seal with his indentifying mark on any reserve he packs. (Part 65.133) Sparky so this means that foreign skydivers can do as they are used to in their own country, doesn't it ? I did not learn to pack a reserve yet, and for the moment don't see the use in it. But Maybe one day, by interest, or if like some other skydivers of my DZ, I have to travel a lot in countries with few riggers available. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  18. that's really interesting. very nice, thanks scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  19. In Switz you can repack your reserve on your own, if you follow a course with a rigger etc etc... but you're not going to reseal it, as you have no seal. Would it be illegal to jump it in another country ? Little precision, in Switz only YOU are allowed to jump that rig. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  20. is it mandatory in the US to have the reserve sealed ?? I once lost my seal (the string broke...) and was sad as a stone. but when I got the explanation that it was not vtal in my country to have that seal to jump, I was happy again. Now, I even know riggers (in Europe) who DO NOT seal the reserves. Could I jump my rig in the US if I didn't have a seal on my reserve ?? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  21. NICE... I just can't manage to stay head down... Like if I'm afraid to fall or something, and then I end up sitting... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  22. but how come this jump wasn't naked congrats anyway scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  23. forgot to congratulate you on the great choice of an AFF. Take it nice and cool, don't forget to breathe and smile, everything will be fine scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  24. old hand with no jumps ?? I started again with a new jump cause I reached Carpal Tunnel and didnt feel I had anything to do with that level... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  25. at one of the dz's we use (Bex, Switzerland), there are high voltage powerlines not far from the landing zone... And the highway just after that... and on the other side the runway... so we have to come in quite precisely... and avoid the planes which are parked scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
