    I hate my job

Yes, I can relate. Hating your job really sucks the fun out of life. Me? I'm about half-way through the first semester of my MBA program and attempting 20 hours of part-time work with the company that I was working for full-time. I'm about to (haven't fully decided) retire my 3 year long career with this company so that I can focus on school and get the most out of the program. By attempting both part-time work and full-time school, I don't feel like I'm reaping the full benefit of the program... nor do I feel like I'm learning anything more than 'what will be covered on the exam'. A good friend of mine (James) and I often discuss the cruelties of full-time employment. James is borderline brilliant and also, borderline OCD (neither characteristic bother me). The guy is an absolute IT genius but can NOT stomach doing the same thing, day after day, for very long. He's in his late 20s and currently unemployed... and has been for just over a year. The guy will land an awesome IT job and work it for +/- one year. During this time, he maintains a cost of living of approximately $25-$28k and saves the excess ($$$$$$). On his 366th day of employment at his last job, James handed in a witty and creative two weeks notice to his boss... that he probably started writing somewhere during months 6 - 8 on the job. While he's unemployeed he 'has fun' making websites, server work and all kinds of other "IT" things I don't know how to explain ... he travels internationally, goes skiing, hikes and pretty much burns through the majority of his savings. He's currently looking for a part-time job driving a bus or serving coffee or leading tours at a museum or teaching white-water rafting lessons or ... and the list goes on and on. James never regrets quitting a job. He does, however, regret the time he wastes in a job he can't stand. Learn how to live on practically nothing and suddenly, what you do for a living and how much you get paid begin to seem trivial. That's his motto, at least.
  3. I'd give The Town an A - fantastic movie. One of the best I've seen in awhile... and a great cast IMO.
  4. Where in Australia? And Why? If you don't mind me asking?
  5. The Crow and The Butterfly by Shinedown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B89Osfj8dg The following link is NSFW (profanity), but damn it's funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc0mxOXbWIU
  6. Hello Thursday.... have fun. Edited to add: I'm in the 1-3 category, with a very aggressive wannabe 4 and 5 (one of which is engaged to be married! ). Not that I take advantage of this all that often anyways...
  7. i absolutely agree here. "Soccer Moms" do exist, i've seen 'em, I know 'em. And it is rather entertaining how flustered some of you guys get from Shah's posts. And on that note, to sleep I go.
  8. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to visit New Zealand and Australia...
  9. It's a semi-recent chick flick. I'd be shocked if anyone here can name the movie (without the assistance of google).
  10. "Be serious. You are not trying. You're whining. What is it that you want me to say to you?" (today's revelation/reminder/refresher and also, a movie quote!) Perhaps this quote is just what YOU needed to hear today, as well. It is absolutely without a doubt what I needed to hear.
  11. Hehe - I need to come visit soon. He's such a cutie and growing up SO fast.
  12. What makes you think he was flirting? Was it something that you saw and thought he's flirting? Did you ask him? I'll put it this way - I've seen guys who look like they are really laying it on thick with women. Laughing, giving the eyes and the touching, etc. One woman after another and the women are receptive to it because the women think he's gay (and they usually are right). The behavior itself is not a full picture... In case my other posts were not clear, I was the one being hit on by a guy who would also freely talk about his girlfriend. I've know the guy in question for approximately four weeks and this was NOT the first time he has flirted with me. It's unfortunate because I actually liked him before I discovered he had a gf... now he's totally off limits. Although, his behavior last night would have made ANYONE think he was absolutely available. I was able to keep him at an arm's length but man, I could have taken him home. Stupid boys.
  13. I would bet money that this did not apply to this guy. I'm not a complete idiot and I know enough to know he was waiting for me to reciprocate juuuust far enough to give him the 'ok' - not my style. It saddens me actually because I actually LIKE(d) the guy, Sigh.
  14. How does a man openly talk about his girlfriend, when asked, and flirt with a woman... blatantly... at the same time.... please explain. I was very well behaved this evening. I just don't understand how that is acceptable. sigh.

  18. From Ashes Rise seems to generate decent music, but as soon as the someone starts singing (or screaming) it ruins it for me. Thanks for sharing, though!

  21. I get some sort of sick satisfaction from throwing stuff away. I won't part with photographs or items passed down to me from relatives, but i have lots of STUFF that really is just a waste of space. In fact, I often dream of liquidating all of my possessions, packing up what i wish to keep and buying a one way ticket to somewhere new. *sigh*
