I believe the forest service has little men with inch thick spectacles locked in a cave somewhere writing instructions. I've seen something like this 20-30 years ago. The problems with it were heat. Electronics don't like it and the viscosity of the oil changes, and the oil aerates so it gets "soft" making accurate opening and closing more difficult. John of course you are right. You just forgot the 2x4 method of instruction. Only its the instructor that needs the eddumbafication. This is a problem with modern skydiving.
