Mt Evans is the highest paved road in the US. You get there on 103 in Idaho Springs on I 70,then follow the signs. Get to see the mountain goats. Breck up I 70 from there. . Take Loveland pass US6 instead of the Eisenhower tunnel. If you have time I would go south out of Breck on 9 to Buena Vista. The Mt Princton hot springs are nice and there is a drive in movie theater in Buena. There is also a haunted B&B in St Elmo up the canyon from the hot springs. I have seen more than one instructor give up on a student. My ex-wife was told three times she couldn't/shouldn't jump at three different places. She has been on numerous world records and 4 way at the Nats. I have seen an instructor turn into a raving child about his student. 42 jumps and was pretty much on level 1. Almost always had to be pulled.Couldn't land for crap. Tunnel time etc. Some one suggested maybe another instructor try. Two jumps later the man did a stable pull and landed like a feather. Why? There are no bad students only bad teachers. If you're student is too weak to pull the capewells send them home to lift weights and come back. Too fat, they have to be able to do 10 pull ups. That's a lot of miles for the time. If you just drove it would take 9 days. West of the Mississippi its easy to find camping, National forest, National parks, BLM land, state parks. East of the Miss harder. Try to see stuff that might not be there again. The stuff like the Grand Canyon will be there your whole life. Might concentrate on stuff east of the Miss time wise.And the south will be HOT and humid. DC, Smokey Mountains, Nashville, Mammoth Cave, New Orleans, NY, Oshkosh air show. Check www.roadsideamerica for some weird stuff. Plan jumping and partying for weekends, hiking, tourist crap on week days. People work during the week and you can get real bored waiting for them. Places I wouldn't go, cause there boring: Four corners, Mount Rushmore, Capital Reef, Stone Mountain, If you drive the Interstate you will miss America. Two lanes are where you see this country. The Spam museum in Mn. Sturgis. If you get to Yellowstone, stick with the southern loop. THe north half of the park is pretty empty and big. Try to be someplace cool for sunset and sunrise, Chesapeek Bay, mountains, rivers. lakes. Every evening stop at a bar and talk to the locals. Tell them what you're doing. It will be great.
