  1. 2 x Twin Otters (my favorite jump plane ) 1 x Skyvan 1 x King Air 1 x Porter Owning a dropzone busy enough to warrant having that fleet? I would have died and gone to heaven
  2. Hey, I ruptured both eardrums while skydiving after having a cold. I felt fine and didn't feel I was sick at all since the wednesday, then saturday I jumped and ruptured both eardrums on the first jump. I then went to an ENT specialist who gave me a few tips: -Never jump with a cold or anything that is affecting iether your ears, nose or throat. -If you've had a cold, wait a few days after you're well before jumping again. (and when you do jump again for the first time, a nose spray might be a good idea). -if you cant clear your ears on the way up in the plane, then dont jump. just land with the plane. He said these are just precautions and even though people jump with colds all the time with no problem, the chance of something happening is greatly increased and its just not worth the risk. But more to the point, ive never really heard of anything happening to people except when they have colds or have had previous serious damage to their ears. cheers
  3. Im an implementation architect for a software company (whatever the hell that means. Fancy name for something very not fancy )
  4. : 8 : 0 Some backflying with a newbie freeflyer. Some cool 2 and 3way freefly jumps. Good weekend!! Just keeps getting better...
  5. Great vid, I like it!! Good choice of music and a nice flow through the whole thing. I watched it from start to finish, all 40mins. And of coarse, some awesome flying
  6. Im surprised no one has said anything about you wanting to downsize from a 190 to a 120 in one go. Thats huge!!! I would think even going straight from a 190 to a 150 is too big of a jump.
  7. There are usually more computers in the house but the ones that belong to and are used by me a the moment are 3. - Work laptop - Desktop - Personal laptop
  8. 0:10:0 Did some really cool jumps away from my home dz for a change. Did some coaching jumps and got 1 of the freefly jumps done that I need for my C-Licence. YAY!! Just one more and ive done all the freefly requirements to get my C.
  9. 0:8:0 Did my 600th skydive! cool Finally got some of the freefly routines we've been working on for a few weeks to work.
  10. Im so sorry Sheri. Wishing you and your family all my love.
  11. Ive done way more this year than any year before this. Probably somewhere around 250 so far. Im hoping to do about another 80 for the year.
  12. Hey! I was not half bad, when I connected with the ball that is!! Arno has bribable photo's! Yeah, it was the connecting with the ball part I had problems with. Lots of good practice swings
  13. 0:1:0 Spent the whole weekend at the dz and only managed 1 jump due to the weather But we did end up going to the driving range and proved that skydivers cant play golf. Very funny!!
  14. Well thanks for the replies, it seems as if this is quite a common Sabre2 characteristic. My openings have all been extremely soft and coupled with my tight chest strap I guess its to be expected that my slider doesn't come down all the way. I have always loosened my chest strap after collapsing my slider but I might just have to change the sequence of things I do after opening. Ill have a chat to my rigger anyway, because even though this is not a serious problem, its still a bit annoying if nothing else. cheers.
  15. Im happy with every aspect of my new Sabre2 so far except that the slider isn't coming down all the way on opening. It usually ends up almost a foot above the risers. I haven't had a single opening yet (done about 20 jumps on it) where the slider has come down all the way. I usually just hang on the rears a bit and it comes down but id still like to get the problem sorted out. Is there anything my rigger could do to sort this problem out. If this is not a normal sabre2 characteristic then the only thing I can think of is that it might be because I wear my chest strap quite tight and it may be distorting how the lines spread above the risers. Could this be preventing the slider from coming all the way down? Any ideas? thanks, cheers
  16. 0:7:0 It felt like I completely forgot how to freefly this weekend,...im still trying to figure out why I flew like such a pipe! Guess we all have those jumps sometimes. Still lots of fun though
  17. I second that!! Lets see em...
  18. Yup I still get them sometimes. Usually after a really cool jump or if something 'unexpected' happened on the jump
  19. Generally a group of friends has common interests and enjoys similar activites, which is the reason for being friends in the first place. I think if you make friends in the sport who you didn't know before you started skydiving you'd probably loose touch with them 90% of the time if they stopped jumping and you didn't. Simply because the common activity or interest between you that made you friends in the first place no longer exists. If you're talking about friends who you made outside of skydiving then thats a bit different. I definitly have far fewer friends outside of skydiving than I use to have but when we do go out for drinks or whatever its still cool since what made us friends in the first place wasn't skydiving. (But whuffo's dont make much sense to me anymore anyway )
  20. One piece. Ive had both in the past and prefer the one piece. Any time ive been on a significant amount of freefly jumps with anyone who has a two piece, their top has blown up at least once. Maybe some people dont think that once in a while is a big deal, but I prefer having a one piece which will never have half of it blow up. Also, it doesnt really get very hot because you can always just tie the top around your waist. No big deal.
  21. Good to hear it!! Thats what I love about this sport. Its a chance to get away from everyday work and stress. After this week of stressing with clients, I cant wait to go to the dz where I can forget about all that.

    Headdown Carving

Thats an awesome picture!! My carving is getting a bit better thanks. Im trying to make the diameter of the carve smaller and smaller each time I try it. My goal is to obviously be able to carve round one stationary person, but im not quite there yet... I still need to be a lot more controlled while doing it. Baby steps cheers
  23. So no one has seen vertical journey 2 yet? I think its relatively new?
  24. In South Africa we have Licence requirements for any discipline, be it RW, freeflying, freestyle etc. I like this idea because like you say, not everyone enjoys doing RW. And on the other hand not everyone wants to freefly. Sorry, I dont know how it works in the US.
