  10. The word has been spreading through the Edmonton Community as well and should be a good turnout for his memorial next weekend. Eternal Blue Skies, Cabana Boy. Enjoy your Stoogies in the sky..... Damn. Major Dad CSPA D-579
  11. Given the footage on YouTube plus the incident in June 2008 with the Twin Otter that got the A/C Owner quite excited at the time, there would appear that there are some complacency issues. Mad Skillz indeed..... Question - Do the Tandem Manufacturers specifically ban CReW with their Tandem Systems? (i.e. would this be cause for pulling rating(s)?) Blue Ones, Major Dad CSPA D-579
  12. Cool Landing Area...... Major Dad CSPA D-579
  13. Learn to pack... Seriously though, I bought a Sabre2 a few years ago as I started to do large way formations where a Spinetto wasn't the best choice of canopies. The opening characteristics proved to be such that I bought a matching Sabre2 for my backup rig. Perhaps at 49 jumps you have more to learn...... Blue Ones, Major Dad CSPA D-579

  21. From Jenni's FB Wall...... "Friends --This update was on Mike's FB (Jeni's dear hubby) after it was posted by a friend for him. Thought that those of you who might not have seen it would like to see the note. "I just talked talked to Mike and he asked me to post ...this update". (Jeni has a broken pelvis and a fractured vertebrate (C4), but she apparently has no brain injury and she has mobility in her feet and legs. She has a partially collapsed lung and a bruised liver, but otherwise she is ok. I know she'll have a painful recovery, but all in all, it looks like she lucked out. Praise God.)" Hugs and Good Vibes from the North Country, Jen and Mike Major Dad CSPA D-579
  22. To a point. I will TRY to get the student out. If, however he will not budge and I can't physically get him out, then I will not go in with him. They have been instructed that if they see the Instructor and the Pilot leave, then they should too! Major Dad CSPA D-579
  23. I far prefer AFF over the Traditional Progression by far (which I went through myself) I watched someone do a Clear and Pull for the first time in a long time just recently. She did a couple of front loops before getting her pilot chute out. I talked to her after about the advantages of AFF. What is being missed in all this discussion is that the system is only as strong as the instructors and the "learning" culture of the dropzone. If there is no one mentoring or teaching the new people outside the "program" (whatever it is) than learning is slow, if at all. People who are good self-learners or find a mentor or two can learn. Those who dont, won't. To say that AFF is a failure and the way it was done in the old days is a superficial analysis and trying to condense a number of problems/issues into one solution. If you want to improve training at your Dropzone, get involved with the program. If you dont like the program at your Dropzone, find a dropzone with a program you like and want to be involved it. My $0.02 (Canadian)..... Major Dad CSPA D-579
  24. Welcome to the Edmonton area. Eden North has been my home DZ for the last 15 years. The Caravan seats 15 and goes to 12,500 ft. There are a few guys flying wingsuits here in addition to all the freeflyers, etc. Lots of good pics on the Eden North Facebook site if you want a taste of what you can expect.
