    Pets?

Currently have 3 cats. The first cat was my ex-ex's idea... For a whole host of reasons I was against it but I ended up caving. I absolutely insisted we rescue an adult cat because they are the forgotten ones... As expected, he was not exactly a walk in the park. He had health problems that took quite some time to resolve and also lasting trust issues. Once he warmed to us, he was lonely and he feared being abandoned. He would spend all day wailing when we were not home, but refused to go outside under any circumstances. He would attack guests and/or hide any time he heard any kind of commotion. He got better and better but I worried about him - I felt he would never be comfortable being left alone, ever, even for short periods of time. After much soul-searching, I explored many different options and decided to go for broke and get 2 more cats. Kittens, this time, and purebreds. Again, this went wholly against many of my values, but what convinced me in the end was that I needed to be very very careful about selecting appropriate companions for my abused/traumatised rescue and one advantage of careful selective breeding is that certain character traits can be reliably predicted within the breed. I needed upbeat, cheerful, playful, non-dominent/aggressive cats and that is exactly what I got. Sadly, one of my two babies was also born with a heart murmur, one of the downsides of too many years of inbreeding... At one point, I got "suckered" into "temporarily" looking after another rescue - a very very old cat, also with severe health problems. I ended up keeping her and putting her down after a couple of surgeries didn't rid her of cancerous tumours - it became clear that the was no more hope for her to live a good, pain-free life. The vet estimated she was probably more than 20 years old... She had a comfortable "retirement" with us for the last several months of her life. But she did disrupt the great balance that had existed with my 3 other cats, so I will no longer be taking in more fur-babies. It's a constant joy and I am happy I have them. My first cat has turned into an absolute sweetheart. He seems to consider the other two to be his little babies and despite being a castrated male takes on a very motherly role!! It's a beautiful thing to see how happy and confident he has become. That particular ex-boyfriend has been out of my life for almost exactly 2 years now, but getting this cat has changed my life for the better - it was a great idea I don't think I would have arrived at by myself. I am grateful to him for having convinced me to do it

    Thank you!!!

    Great news - congratulations
  3. I have heard about this from many older / established couples. If it works for you - do it. If you try and you find it doesn't work for one or both of you, don't. 4. Unfortunately, a skydiving forum is not the best place to get medical advice... Problem is, doctors are not the best people to give you skydiving advice... My father has has 2 pneumothoraxes in this life... My brother had one when he was at university and I did when I was 16. When I had mine, little was known about causes, but they did know it was more frequent among young, slender, athletic people and that some people seemed genetically predisposed to it. I was told there was little evidence to correlate smoking and a pneumothorax (my dad a heavy smoker - my brother and I non-smokers and very healthy). I wasn't given any tips to prevent it from happening again - I was just told to try to get to the hospital more quickly if it did. My dad told me that on both occasions, he was not doing anything physical/strenuous to trigger it... My brother was playing volley-ball when he had his (although not pushing any harder than usual) and I was peddling along on a bicycle (also not something I consider strenuous). My brother and I are both very sporty and have never (yet) had a second one. He is 37 and I turn 36 in a month... If possible, perhaps seek several opinions from the medical community. You may not find anyone who actually understands skydiving, however, so take their opinions (because they are opinions unless backed up by actual scientific research) with an appropriate dose of salt. Take any advice on here with a double dose of salt!!! 5. A lot of people do not have the courage to pursue their authentic self. In your case, the change you were seeking was not just inside, but visible to everyone... I am certain that going through such a transformation in such a public way is no small thing... Took you some time, but you made it

    Pets?

They are adorable; who wouldn't like to see this on Christmas morning? Oh no!! Did the cat eat your original present??! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  7. I did not watch your skydiving video... But I watched your other video... I thought you have been so brave and I was very touched by how difficult it must have been to get to where you are today. Kudos to you for having the courage to be your true self.
  8. I don't know the science behind it but that phenomenon also exists in French... Where French-Canadians typically adopt a very French-From-France accent when singing, despite a heavy Québecois accent when they just speak. Although if you listen carefully, there is the odd word and/or pronounciation that still gives them away... 9. Should be pretty trivial. An adapter would make it work with many laptops and you can just copy the pictures off. This only works if your phone can still be switched on... 10. Excellent point. Am thinking this is not an option. It's not my phone but I suspect that unlike me, she actually cares about some of the more private pics on there... 11. In answer to other questions: it's pictures we care about. Contacts are already on Outlook... Nothing saved on the SIM card, no memory card either. Apps - we don't give a shit... Any *known* recovery programs? Remember - phone won't even turn on or charge... Dead screen as well. 12. Dunno if anyone has any first-hand experience with this... Have a broken Samsung Galaxy S5. Was dropped. Black screen and won't turn on / charge. Is there any way to recover the data?? Am prepared and have all the tools to open it up... Thanks
  13. At last night's Nataly Stalkers Club it was suggested that it would be more efficient for us to to take up a collection to fly you over here to interview candidates, rather than all of us fly over there. I love this thread for so many reasons
  15. When it comes to "Blowjob" discussions; better to label it NSFW than not. That was exactly the logic I employed But no need to worry - I have back-up candidates until I find a steady/suitable replacement "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  16. True story... Me: Nice weekend? Fancy a blowjob? Him: Yeah, we had a great time... Me: "we?" Him: Yeah, didn't I tell you? I have a gf now... It's pretty recent... Me: Oh, sorry buddy - my bad! Good for you
  17. I've always slept on my right side and thus on the right side of the bed... But these days, on the rare occasions where I spend the whole night with a human (as opposed to my cats) I'll take either side... I know I won't get much sleep anyway so I don't give a fuck. As for my cats, they have a definite preference for the right side of my bed. They like being close to me. So close I sometimes am woken up by one of them because they like to lay right on my fucking face!! Always a slightly strange thing to wake up to a furry butt in/on your face!!! 18. So far all evidence points to the acts of a lone wolf, who was not motivated by religious motives. We are very sad and grieving. But that does not give us licence to hate on the basis of lies and/or misinformation. 19. The result of the vote comes as a shock and I am very saddened by it. Yes, we all knew it would be close... But ultimately I thought/hoped "remain" would have it. I cannot see any upside for people like me who live outside of the UK... Only time will tell... 20. WOW! It's only 4 months without donating here in France (I am also a regular donor). "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  21. Heyyyyy girl - great news
  22. I guess not. Just chill out, have a beer, and continue to think I am a twat... And I will continue to ignore your insults
  23. I don't get it because the way you described it doesn't make any sense. I don't really care why you're getting your tattoos removed. You're the one who posted all high and mighty about how all the ignorant people of the world can't understand your hyper-enlightened worldview. But your explanation wasn't logical. Maybe I'm just not advanced enough to understand. Yes, people are going to assume that you regret getting a tattoo memorializing your whirlwind romance with a violent stalker. Most people would regret that, and they probably should. If you don't regret it, super. But don't get defensive when people assume you regret something that's highly regrettable. Yep. You definitely just don't get it! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  24. Maybe they were lying to me when they said it, but I have heard countless people tell me they have always wanted a tattoo and were too chicken to get one. Not sure if that qualifies as "regret" but perhaps it is something like it?? For sure it's not quite the same thing... Because those who *wish* they had the "balls" to get a tattoo, technically can just go and get one... And those who already have one cannot just wash it off... As far as "not complaining," if you believe that we are responsible for our choices and have to deal with the consequences, then by rights pretty much nobody has any reason to complain about anything, if you think about it!!! 25. Mmm... Well, I decided 5 years ago I would be doing it but only recently found it in my heart to "say my goodbyes," if you will. I should not give a shit when people judge and misunderstand, and yet it irks me nonetheless. It irks me the same way it irks me every time someone decides to give me flack for not having any children... And for this, too, I should not give a shit. And yet, somehow I do...
