  1. I suppose Fly Haus is Fly Zone. This is the one close to the Airport in Kelsterbach/Frankfurt. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  2. Seems to be that 2017 will be a blast in tunnel-capacity in Germany. To the existing ISG in Bottrop, a couple of new facilities open at the bigger cities. Munich: Jochen Schweizer Arena in Taufkirchen in the south of Munich opens up in March. https://www.jochen-schweizer.de/arena/arena-bodyflying,default,pd.html Berlin: Hurricane Factory Berlin (Schoenefeld) is about to open in February. http://hurricanefactory.de/ Also Windobona Berlin opens the first ISG round chamber tunnel in the center of Berlin. http://windobona.de/ Frankfurt: Right next to the Airport in Frankfurt (Kelsterbach) the biggest tunnel with about 18 ft diameter opens up shortly before christmas. nice one > a 45 minute drive for me .. ;-)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDeToxKBj3A Hamburg: Windobona promised a tunnel in Wandsbek ... http://www.shz.de/regionales/hamburg/skydiving-in-hamburg-fallschirmspringen-ohne-fallschirm-id13295691.html I´m curious if the promised openings are all on time (we all know construction sites ...) Seems that next year, spending money in tunnel hours is a lot more easy for me ;-) -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  3. Your post from 5th of July this year: "The issue I’m having is accuracy and standup landings on a 220 main. ... But, now that I’ve down sized to a 220 every landing I’ve had has been fast, always over shot (no matter where I start my final), and ends with me PLFing or looking like a ballplayer sliding into home plate." I guess this answers your question about getting a 149 XF2 ... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well

  5. Hi Gregor, glad you are alive .. That could have gone bad ... My thoughts on that whole stuff: 1st: you had a premature opening at a higher freefallrate 2nd: you had an out-of-sequence opening to 1st: that happened before, will happen again and is not a joke even if you jump alone, blablabla .. > you know the hazards in a situation like this. How to prevent that? Gearmaintenance (pouch, length of closing loop, ...), proper packing (stowing the bridle, hackey,..) and checking your handles before you exit is worth thinking about. If you drive a faster car at higher speeds, you need more concentration ... to 2nd: if you have an out-of-sequence opening, that may get worse. linedump etc. is not funny. Seeing the lines at you after the container was open is frightening. Especially at 0:29 .. if the bag only works on lower speeds, that has to be checked. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vRe51Ap0dI as an example. At 0:47 you see a premature opening , but with a staged sequence. Your bag should at least provide linestretch before the canopy falls out of the bag .. that demo in your clip with the shake of the bag is very interesting .. Summary: you have to judge if any stowless-bag is able to guarantee that in-sequence opening, even at higher deployment speeds. Even that, prematures can cause damage to material and persons, no matter which gear was used... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  6. Was the same for me, after I did my first jump ... ;) Seeing "Ripcord" and some Jumps from ElCap on TV, I always knew that I also want to do that ... Sometime ... In the late 80s, a DC3-Boogie was held by our local DZ. (Even it was only 7 miles away, I didn´t knew that there is any skydiving ..) Reading the Newspapers, saying that Tandems are possible, I phoned the contact and showed up. After that jump, I asked where to sign .. Addicted to that sport since then ... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  7. How about that: VShortcut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie84jxNfVP0 does "the work" while you pack ... https://www.facebook.com/VShortCut-381243268647548/ works with outside-vid as well ;-) -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL#PAL_vs._NTSC PAL usually has 576 visible lines compared with 480 lines with NTSC, meaning that PAL has a 20% higher resolution -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  9. My reply goes more to the start of that thread. > Starting video for a 4 way team .. So for the coach and the flyers, a different set of views might be helpful in training, especially if the videoflyer is less experienced. For competition I do not have enough information about specific rules to judge that. I only know that a former videoguy for an 8-way team used to have several cams on the helmet with different lenses. he mentioned the back-up and the exitview if the judges were in doubt (that 8way was fast with transition from exitmove to 1st point and break ..). so I guess for competition and 4way, different sets of angles are not that point. here the back-up is more the issue. A videoflyer should then be able to have all the flyers visible and judgeable on the screen. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  10. You may set two different field of views.. narrow - medium - wide - superview so the whole formation (like on exit) or details can be seen ... Backup is also an issue .. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  11. pretty missed .. we (the germans) have one... we needed it to legalize BASE in Germany.. gear checks are a part of every FJC and common standard everywhere.. you see more than 25.000 jumps a year in switzerland without a legstrap-issue.. mainly because of gearchecks and common sense. and there are rules and regulations around the world.. depends where you are ... when it now comes to fatalities, the major point is not a missing gearcheck which had possibly prevented that. the reason nowadays differ from the reasons why BASEr died 30 - 40 years ago. we still have wallstrikes or no-pulls, but in 306 fatalities you have only about 10 gear related. on the other hand you have 127 wingsuit fatalities.... I´m totally with you that BASE still has a long way to go, but (to close the loop to that darwin guy) even in an unregulated enviroment the person itself has to get smarter. unfortunately it seems that the part between the ears of some jumpers cannot catchup with the speed of their internet connection ... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  12. for rainy days and if in doubt of belonging to a higher species: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_Awards#History reading the "list" is worth a minute .. http://darwinawards.com/slush/new/ in comparison to that, the guy on the bridge was a clever one ... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  13. Following the Darwin Award Rules, that is not possible, except he adopted his children...(violating Rule 1) Rules: Inability to reproduce: Nominee must be dead or rendered sterile Excellence: Astoundingly stupid judgement Self-selection:Cause of one's own demise Maturity: Capable of judgement Veracity: The event must be verified. Back to the topic, everyone makes mistakes, more or less with serious outcome. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  14. Some guys wrap a Pull-Up cord around the fabric at the PC-Handle to make the stuffing into the BOC more easy. Not that bad if you remove the cord after you put the PC into the pouch .. fatal if you don´t remove it, because if you pitch, the PC cannot inflate ... (Example: BFL 105 Joe Lathrop, Twin Falls Idaho) -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  15. For me it appears to be like a: - it´s getting late, everyone else is already at exit - I have to be on that "load" before the light is too low for the GoPro - I usually jump on my own, but this is a chance to show those "students" what I can Either mental overflow or stupidity here. But missing gearchecks led to a couple of fatalities in the past. Pull-Up cords around a PC-Handle, misrouted bridles, etc.. Not only at solo jumps, also at multiways and groups at the exitpoint ... So never say never, even this was obvious and easy to recognize. Thank God that Dougs has always an open eye for everyone around and wasn´t only focused to his students.... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  16. 17.05. 1989 my Home DZ, Porter accident, http://www.pc-6.com/history/857.htm, Student climbed out at about 3000ft, Rig popped open, Main Canopy entangled with stabilizer. Pilot bailed out and all (including a tandem) -except of one- luckily managed to leave the plane. Porter spiraled into the ground.. So I guess, as a pilot having a Rig with you is not a bad idea on planes with idiots like us. -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well

  20. 1) that is why I wrote that 2) Nothing. Amok is not preventable. It´s only a matter of time that it happens again. open borders on the Eurozone or not, if you want an illegal weapon you´ll get one. 3) we have a different culture and (usually) go to jail if we shoot someone standing on our lawn.. we mainly see guns either as a sporting device, a tool for hunters (also hunting is restricted in our country), or for law enforcement/soldiers. I guess (!) it would be the same here in Germany if we would have the same situation as in the US. Open carry and stand your ground being legal in deep bavaria might become a disaster after Oktoberfest in Munich. 4) drug handling is captured by § 29 ff BtMG. example: not few amount of drugs, possession, dealing, bringing it to the streets: not less than 1 year in jail up to 15 years. if in a gang with returning activities: § 30 BtMG, not less than 5 years and up to 15 years. consuming itself is not charged directly, it´s the possession and the rest. Seriously, I would be positive touched if the great nation you have in the US would be able to see that the society has developed and changed since the constitutional act. maybe a document to rule and guide that nation is now ready to follow that process... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  21. As some of you might know, the Glock was an illegal one, purchased via darknet with roughly one year of search/attempt. The handgun was a former decoration weapon with a proof stamp from Slovakia, which was modified (perhaps from the seller) back to a working 9mm. The guy in munich purchased that with over 300 bullets and received it in a dropbox from a parcelservice, which is not uncommon for that kind of deal. Dealers of that kind often hijack dropbox-accounts from private persons for their business. He payed via trust account. The chathistory in the darknet shows somehow that he was willing to pay 2300.- /2600.- Euros for that package, but the seller should make a price of his own. Usually a Glock17 is about 680.- euros, if purchased officially. Sideinfo for germany: 95 % of the confiscated weapons on a crimescene are illegal ones. Estimations are that 5,6 million legal weapons are on one side facing 15 - 20 millions of illegal weapons on the other side. Some estimations go up to 60 million illegal weapons, but that seems really high. So talking about the legal situation in Germany about using firearms in a crimescene is useless in that direction. If we would manage to stop the import/distribution of illegal firearms in germany, that would effect the situation a lot more in a positive way. My 50ct to the discussion about the constitution and the right to have firearms in the US: you will never come to a consensus. The part who hangs at the second amendment will defend it with all they have. The part who sees that differently will not convince the other part. So stop discuss that in the forums, it will not lead to an agreement. (this applies also to the Trump/Hillary discussion ...) -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well

  23. Hard to believe... never seen that or heard about that. would love to see the footage because usually, the cameraguy is on the outside (left or right door) and such stuff would be difficult to judge. And I´m not quite sure what the sporting code states about that. Sure you don´t think about a kind of "helping" exit where you launch something different and switch grips to the needed formation once you´re outside? Like here on round 1 from airspeed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0q03F1XCk4 start watching at 00:18, they are launching a modified "E" to switch grips to the "J" they have to show. Took them a second from 00:19 Exit to 1st point at 00:20 -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
  24. I guess it is.. all have to be in flight.. so you have to leave the aircraft. Working time starts when the first jumper leaps, formation counts when in flight. Otherwise just capture the grips of a "F" from outside for example and it would count ... or standing on the edge of a skyvan with all the grips taken... I suppose you have to jump first to make the judges push the knob .... you take the grips, leap and as all are outside of the plane showing a controlled formation with the right and visible grips, that´s it. Point one .... -------------------------------------------------- With sufficient thrust, pigs just fly well
