  1. Hey guys! I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. It's been too long! Thanx for the words. See you soon.
  2. I just wanted to thank everyone for the replies. I do need to trust myself, my training, and my gear. I really appreciate the links to any sort of reading material on this topic! Just reading the words of my fellow skydivers makes me feel so much better. I can't believe that I thought I was alone with my battle of fear in this sport. Thanks everyone!! The financial forecast will have me jumping again by the end of January!! I am excited!
  3. Sounds like you go through the same sorta ups and downs I'm dealing with. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. Thanks
  4. I am interested in hearing my fellow skydivers discuss personal experiences, opinions, and how you went about dealing with fear in the sport of skydiving. I had to take a break from skydiving when I moved to Alaska for a year after 41 jumps. I am now getting ready to begin jumping again, and I am feeling nervous about it. In 2002 I did my first tandem jump. I loved the experience and couldn’t stop thinking about it, but the thought of jumping with my own parachute terrified me. So I spent about a year or so talking to skydivers and reading as much information as possible to help me get over my fear and to prepare for the student program. Finally I started and completed the student program. Now I feel as though I need to build myself up again. I know that I can get myself there. I will probably feel better once I do my refresher ground training. I would love to hear what anyone has to say on this topic. Thanks!
  5. When I was 11 I put my arm through a window and slashed one of my main arteries in my wrist. I remember watching the blood pump out of my arm in shock. Luckily my dad saved the day. It took me about three years to get over my fear of jumping with my own parachute. FINALLY...I started the AFF program and now life is better than ever.
  6. Welcome and good luck w/the student program! Where in Texas are you from?
  7. Congrats!! Let me know how your next jump goes. I'm going to do AFF 5 and 6 tomorrow. Can't wait to jump!! Welcome
  8. Congrats and welcome! I'm going to do my first AFF jump this weekend!
  9. Thanks! I'll let you know when I'll be at Spaceland so we can meet.
  10. Thanx! You just let me know when you wanna jam. My little sister is an Aggie as well. Do you ever make it out to Skydivespaceland?
  11. Lewis... Thanx for the encouraging words! Just making this first solo jump will be a great personal accomplishment. I will make sure to let you know how it goes....I'll post a picture of how cool I looked...
  12. That's great! Yes, both of our jumps will be awesome. Let me know how it goes!
  13. Thanks for the greeting! It would be cool to meet a female involved in the sport. I'll let you know the exact date I will be at Skydivespaceland. Are you far from the DZ?
  14. Hello to all! I am new to the sport of skydiving. I will be doing my first solo jump at the end of this month! Any encouraging words appreciated.
