  1. more like dr. jekyll / mr. hyde...
  2. steven segal just happens to be a very good friend of mine. when i tell him what you just said, he's gonna go all chuck norris on your ass. steven segal NEVER cringes. EVER.
  3. let's say you weigh 180 naked. most of your jumps are on a mojo 280. you've done well with this canopy, and love the way it operates. you're thinking about a new canopy, and reckon you might as well have a bit more fabric over your head for gnarly stuff, and some vents for low stuff. current thinking says a 300' canopy might be just the ticket. that would mean a rock dragon 303' or a troll 285' (301') mdv. questions: would a black jack 310' just be way too big? especially with the zp option: would a person just float away, never to be seen again? would a black jack 280 or flik 293 vtec fly like a bigger canopy than the mojo 280 (especially a bj with zp?) any benefit there, or too small? thoughts?
  4. nicrussell, by saying they've repealed the law banning it, it means they are now ALLOWED to sell hard liquor on Sunday
  5. generally speaking, how's the jumping in moab and at the potato bridge during the first week of january? does the weather close these locations out?
  6. my first mojo 280 had a small-hole-mesh slider. i made 6 sub-terminal slider-up jumps with it (an A from 800' and bridge day) and never had any problems. i didn't realize they'd changed things up until my second mojo 280 arrived with a large-hole-mesh slider. go figure...
  7. I see that a few people are jumping full-face mountain bike helmets for BASE, but I was wondering how they behave on terminal jumps? They don't have the neck/chin baffle of a skydiving helmet, so do they fill with air and try to come off your head? Move around a lot? Thanks.
  8. I don't understand this: "The Troll is available in five precisely scaled sizes: (Note – Atair measures surface area by measuring the span x chord of the bottomskin) 205 ft.2 = PIA spec 220 225 ft.2 = PIA spec 240 245 ft.2 = PIA spec 260 265 ft.2 = PIA spec 280 290 ft.2 = PIA spec 305" (From the Morpheus website). Who measures their canopies differently to this? If you buy a Flik 293 or an Ace 280, are they actually smaller than you think? I don't get it. If a 290 is a 305, why not call it a 305? Or is it really a 290? ?????????????????????????? Help?
  9. It seems to me that BASE PCs that have no load tapes on the canopy fabric seem to get a lot of criticism (even though the PCs DO have load tapes on the mesh). However, I can't believe that an outfit like Vertigo, for example, would sell PCs like that if they were not up to the job? From what I know of Vertigo, they really have their design and production quality dialled-in, and they are super-experienced jumpers (no, I do not work for them!) I have jumped a zp PC with no load tapes on the zp, 8 load tapes on the mesh, BASE, and it was fine. I know there are a lot of people jumping them, and those people must be happy with them. So what's the story? Are we wigged-out by a design that we don't really understand? Are load tapes on the canopy really necessary, or just "the norm" in BASE? (Go check out your skydiving PC, if you still have one... you won't find any load tapes on the canopy of that, just on the mesh. That works fine time after time at 120mph plus...) If you're BASE jumping PCs like this, what do you think? If you're building BASE PC's like this, why? Just curious...
  10. Question: If .75 is the ideal "mid-range" wingloading, and .7 to .8 work for gnarly / forgiving respectively, at what point does a wingloading become dangerously low, if at all? Would a .65 be problematic? .6? Is there a point you shouldn't go beyond? Cheers.
