  1. Yup. I got this exact wording as well. Better yet, I also have one of his fraudulent (WAY over the amount) checks. The logo of the bank (Regions Bank, Memphis) is not even current. A bank representative told me today that I should frame it and put it on the wall, as that is about all the satisfaction I will probably receive. There are too many jurisdictions for authorities to get involved, so my energy on this one stops here, except for warning others. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  2. Lemme see...It seems like I get everything from Trader Joe's. I'm sure they have clients there. I'll check the produce section and try to find a six-pack for you. . ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  3. Leapin' lizards, Jack. I would love to see some of your trapeze video! I might learn something from you that could be incorporated into my next routine. Yes...Get thyself to your nearest DZ. "Competition is good. It makes you better." (Quote from publisher, John Baragona.) You guys are going to make me cry with all your words of admiration. But at the same time, I admire you. Liz is one heck of a blogger. Lots of info. And Benjamin, so creative...video editing, web site creation, making ads...such flair and eye appeal. And Betsy, we BOTH have fun at what we do. Three cheers for all of us who enjoy this sport. . ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  4. Thanks for all your support Miss B. You have inspired me to strive for the best. I like my silver. Wish us luck for next year. Oh...er...and the coffee's on the way. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  5. All of you have been such an inspiration to me (Merriah, Betsy,...) and I thank you for all your support. I would be happy to offer anyone help as well. Freestyle seems to be going through a resurgence in popularity and I hope to be able to continue collaborating and participating. If any of you are in Eloy, PLEASE find me. I would love to share stories and swap techniques. Afterall, we're all still learning and perfecting our art. We all have something to contribute. My silver medal sure feels good (I'm so psyched to be a champion), but it reminds me that there is still so much (fun) work to be done for next year. Make sure to contact Tamara Koyn to get the latest World Cup freestyle videos. They are sure to make great study material. [email protected] ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  6. I have just secured a camera flyer! Thanks to everyone who sent me messages with leads, etc. Wish us luck. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  7. I would love to be able to do that. Let's just say that we're geographically challenged. Now, about adjusting brain chemistry...what's the secret? To everyone else...I've got some GREAT leads but nothing firm yet. I'll be covering the competition fees, but need a freeflyer with enough experience to stay in the same skydive with me. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  8. Actually JJ, you're probably one of the best candidates so far, but if anyone out there has experience doing "the weird s*#t that I do," I'm hoping to hear from you. The goal here is to have fun, to be out there doin' stuff. What good is it to be sitting on the sidelines when you can be participating in a national competition? This is a great opportunity to show your stuff to the US. Doesn't have to be perfect, but it is preferable to remain in the same skydive with my teammate ...So, a certain amount of freeflying ability is required. I'll be covering the competition fees. What do you have to lose? ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  9. Hi Guys and Gals...Want something challenging? Something to put on your Sky Resume? Wanna be popular? Well, I don't know if I can help with the third thing, but this is a really cool thing to do if you're available. I need a video flyer so I can compete in freestyle at Nationals. My current teammate is not able to compete this year. I'm looking for a good freeflyer who can keep up with the demands of freestyle skydiving. To see some video of what is involved, go to http://www.nearly-normal.com/photopage.html (Click the summer 2004 training link. You will need QuickTime to view the video. If you are using a PC that can't play it, there is a link to Apple's website that will allow you to install QuickTime.) Or download it directly: http://www.nearly-normal.com/media/Nearly-Normal-2004-web.mov PM me if you want to do it...Let's go out and have some FUN! ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal

  11. For those of you who have been sitting on the edge of your chair for the past few weeks, the 2005 rules for competition in artistic events have just been posted. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/documents/ I guess it's time to get to "work." Good luck to everybody planning on competing at Nationals. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  12. My teammate, Jason (one of the most adaptable and talented flyers I know), says this is a really good time to do fun jumps and to learn some new flying skills. I'll be looking forward to doing just that. In the meantime, maybe we should start a support group for for those who's 2004 training schedule is over.... Hi. My name is Bryce and I'm a skydiver. Hi Bryce. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  13. I had fun, too. It's really weird now having Nationals behind us. It's like school's out for the summer...Like walking around without a purpose for a while. (If anyone can give me a purpose for the next few months, I could sure use the suggestions.) I hope there will be more teams competing next year. I'll be back in training in the spring...Sherri, watch out! I'm looking forward to upcoming competitions...There's nothing like going up against some of the best in the sport. It's exhilarating and it makes you better at your chosen discipline. 'Nuf said. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  14. Scratchy Honeynuts. Ohhhh...That's what those are. I feel better now. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  15. LMAO-OTFL: This is funnier than sh!# I guess that really means the pixie has something planned for all of us. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  16. Hahahahahaha.I guess I'll be staying after school helping the teacher with her pixie duties. What can I do for extra credit? ...besides ...Sheesh you guys. I'm talking about the waste basket. So I guess my lips are zipped for now about the Boogie. I'll stop spreading rumors about what I think is going to happen. It's all kind of exciting. But it'll have to come out some time. I can't wait for your official announcements. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  17. Looks like a great line-up of events in the planner! Any other fun activities planned? Any "celebrity" appearances? Any sponsor give-aways? ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  18. So...Just to get this straight...The teams that win in 2005 will have only a couple weeks to prepare for the World Cup? 2003 results will not be used for invitations? Are any of these official announcements available yet on a website somewhere? (Like FAI?) BTW: About your signature "I'm 10 minutes from normal...Does that make me nearly normal?"... You are now an honorary member of Nearly Normal. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  19. This just in.... My teammate and I have a name...aptly, it's Nearly Normal. Jason and I have been working hard the last few months in preparation for the US Nationals at the end of September. For those who do not know, we're competing against some of the best in Freestyle. Jason is the camera guru, and I'm the guy "on parade." Wish us luck at the competition. We could use any and all the support possible from y'all. Anyone want to be part of our cheering section? I think we'll rock. It's going to be a lot of fun. Starting this weekend, we'll be passing out some really cool stickers (in Eloy - while supplies last) to anyone who wants one to show their support. If any freestyle fans want a sticker and will not be in Eloy, I'd be happy so send one to you. (PM me.) The fun continues. Blue skies to all. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  20. I think that everyone would agree with this suggestion: More contests that earn free jumps. There were a few of these last year, but I think there could have been more, especially since many of the attendees were not at the boogie for the duration. (I loved the pixie hunt even though I didn't find her.) Contest ideas: Lottery Wheel-of-Fortune Multiple point/scavenger clue hunt Most graceful landing (judged by votes) Most interesting exit (judged by votes) 3-time in a row on-target landing competition Samaritan (someone helping low-timers) There's more where those came from. Just pick my brain later. Facilitating some of these might be difficult, but there might be something usable in each of these. Hope this helps and gets the wheels turning. Contests...attendee interaction...FUN. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  21. Now that you can sit, and after a little more practice, it will seem like it's the only way to fly. It will feel so natural. It would be a good thing to fly with another person to check out whether or not you're backsliding. If so, remember, pelvis slightly forward, and straight torso posture. If you find yourself looking down at the ground, chances are you might be backsliding. Once your posture is in check, if you move your lower legs slightly forward, this will help you move forward to stay close to your group. Practice...practice...practice. Getting your sit is a milestone! Good job and have fun. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  22. I love that! It's so right. I'm going to use that phrase at work tomorrow. Hope you don't mind. BTW: HH, great job on the reorganization. Looks like lots of late nights into the early mornings. A thoughtfully evolving project. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  23. ...And you get a 1969 Dodge Coronet "woodie" station wagon for getting 'em through training...But you can't drive it until after graduation day. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  24. How can I possibly add to all these warm, well wishes, except to tell you that you have my love and admiration. Happy birthday! Another anniversary of your 28th. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
  25. I think she meant beside the clouds, 'cause I hear that's where pixies like to hang out. ---> One Half of Almost Nearly Normal
