  2. Has anyone heard of this catapult they set up from cranes and pulleys where a jumper is thrown 400 feet up in the air, opens his chute and lands safely???!!! it happened in France a little while ago. here is a ling in French http://www.para-mag.com/archives/n225/article/article.html That s crazy. Would any of you go for it if it was available ? -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  3. you lucky you! i am from dijon even though in Massachuetts now. So you can jump with your own parachute and membership to your country s USPA type of thing. the A, B, and C licences are FAI so they are recognized worldwide. You can just show up, they check your gear. If the reserve repack requirements are ok, you ll be fine to jump but they should not allow you for exemple to loan it to a french skydiver. The closest pace is Chalon sur Saone. there are trains leading there every half hour and it takes 50 minutes. I would advise you to get in touch with them first so they can pick you up or something. http://www.parachutisme71.com +33(0)609 40 25 81 and if you call directly froM FRANCE 06 09 40 25 81. have fun with the french chick... i personally prefer American girls. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!

  5. has anyone ever ordered from para service. com? i was so surprised by their prices that i felt like asking if they are reliable and if i can buy from them . thanks for any feedback -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  6. i m looking for a digital camera. i already have a camcorder -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  7. ok, i checked all the different brands and there s no digital camcorder smaller than a basketball that has a remote plug... i don t want to spend thousands on a reflex either. so is there a alternative...? i remember this guy at the WFC who had a small 3 mega pix camera big like a small camcorder who had a remote plug installed on it by a friend of his... is this possible on any type and where can i have it done once i ve bought a camera...? thanks for the tips! -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  8. I ve had an ICON for 4 months and i just love it. Looks good, fits nice, the pilot opens slooooowly everytime. As to the customer service, A+ If anything s wrong, they ll take care of you in no time! -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  9. the legend R is simply the mst advanced rig i have tried concerning comfort. it s also very small for the size of canopy it holds. the only problem is that the reserve canopy size that fit in the containers are always way smaller than the main ones. exemple: with the container made for a 170 main, you can only fit a 155 reserve, for a 150 main, you canonly have a 128 reserve. other than that, it really looks fine too! -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  10. so i just want to make sure i got everything right. i m travelling with my rig in my checked luggage cause the company asked me to. along with it i need: -the cypres card -a copy of the TSA policy on rigs did i forget anything...? thanks -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  11. ok, after editing video with several different software, i have come to the conclusion that the bundle imovie, idvd... included in ilife are what i like the most. no crash, no capacity problem in the middle of editing. i have decided to buy a powerbook i could carry around with me and edit and burn dvds for tandem videos. i ve been looking for a month here and there on ebay. my observation is, no real good deal. powerbooks are way too expensive for me! so i m thinking about buying any kind of PC. my question is: i am so used to imovie, idvd that i really want to keep working with it. is there a version compatible on PC? and for those who edit and burn too, is it really better to get a powerbook or is a good PC going to be as efficient and reliable? thank you for your remarks and information. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  12. thanks very much for the tip. the process is anything but simple. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  13. ok, i know posts have already discussed that topic but, i have a question. i want a laptop for video editing+dvd writing on the go for tandems. does it really make a big difference if i take a 12'' screen instead of 15''? and a different question for mac users, i have a few dvds i personally made but i erased the imovie projects. can i, from the dvds i wrote with idvd, duplicate it? and how? thank you -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  14. oooopps, i meant TSA... not FDA -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  15. i went from Indianapolis airport to California for spring break. i completely forgot that my packboy (which, may i remind you is made of metal and ends in a point shape) was in my pocket as i was about to walk through the metal detector. i realized i was gonna be in trouble so i just took it out of my pocket and lay it in the plastic container where you re supposed to put your shoes. i figured i might as well let them take it from the container and explain that it s supposed to close parachutes (and that the rope was not meant to strangle someone). the box went through...and i took my shoes back along with the pack boy that had not even been noticed... -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  16. i don t want to tear my actual jumpsuit apart so...does anybody know where i could find patterns for jumpsuits...? thanks for helping -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  17. if yopu go to bordeaux, GO JUMP at CAHORS!!! it s very cheap if you rent and it s a family DZ. everyone is very nice and hospitable. you sleep in a bedroom for free! it s a little more than an hour to get there but then you can stay a while. if you do, say you came on patrick mercier's advice, they, open their arms to you -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  18. i have packed my rig since jump 1. that s how it works in france. during AFF, they teach you everything. you can t get away after AFF without being able to pack yourself. i don t know why, i just love packing! it s the meticulous and dexterity parts that i like. when i decided to pack tandems, i spent 2 rainy days unpacking and packing tandem rigs (about 20 in the 2 days) and i had pretty much done the same for the individual rig i rented. ust use the time on your hands when you cant jump but are still on the DZ to ge better at it and not waste time when you can actually jump. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  19. do they have a website...? -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  20. i just have one question. i live in the states and just bought my first rig. when i go back to france, should i keep it on my shoulders or put it in my suitcase? cause i ve heard some companies won t let you embark with a parachute! -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  21. i regularly read posts from beginners who have the issue of spending so much money on rentals after they are done with AFF. so much money that could be used for more jumps...it leads them to either consider putting an end to it or buying used rigs too fast with too little experience. i come from france and i went through AFF in the south of france (CAHORS http://www.parachutisme.com) there, when students are done with AFF, gear rental costs 5 euros per jump... sometimes 8 euros but that s it. when i first got here, i was really surprised to see that gear rental ranged from 20 to 40 bucks per jump! then i realized that there are so many used rigs for sale. there are so many more skydivers here. in France, only a small percentage of skydivers own their personal rig. it s like a dream hardly attainable to own one. rigs are so expensive but here, there are so many used rigs to buy that as soon as i arrived here, thanks to an awsome retailer i met at the WFFC named bonnie ,i made the best deal in the world buying my first rig ever! (i had over 200 jumps). i just wonder how come rentals are so expensive here compared to france.i wonder if it doesn t make people stop skydiving once they realize the costs of it. if rentals were way cheaper, i m sure beginner would spend even more money on jumps. i am no longer concerned by the problem of renting but just still think about those starting to skydive. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  22. could anyone help me ...? i need to find a wide angle lens for my new pc 350 (30mm) relly compact. where can i look for that? is there any specific brand? thanks -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  23. i think i should add precision to my question. i asked this because i got my Icon with a harness really too small. the end of the story is that aerodyne took care of everything and i m gonna get my harness soon made to fit me. i m very happy with the customer service. i asked this question because i wondered if it happened to someone else. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
  24. i was just wondering if anyone experienced a harness way too small on the Icon in spite of giving precise measurements of your body . -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech!
