  1. everyone, i'm really sorry for my post bitching about the bpa. i was really annoyed at the time i posted it about various things. the BPA is at no fault with most of it's decisions it's mainly because of the whole rip off britain culture. jumpers sueing jumpers? i say we go to whoever it is who is doing it and have a word. insurance is a ripoff at the best of times, but as soon as the company that is covering all of us as members realises they are the only one that will cover it the cost will go up and up again. craig, i'm sorry again for having a bitch, but i feel like everything about UK skydiving is expensive. i don't feel the mag is of benefit to me particularly and also feel that if the people who didn't want it opted out then they wouldn't have to get so many produced. i have alot of deaf jumpers who have been really annoyed that an interpreter wasn't provided when it could have been. while the bpa asked for someone to do it for them on the cheap i think that if the budget was spent on things that were actually benficial for the members i wouldn't mind paying it. but the only benfit i have seen from my membership is a magazine. again bitching and shouting isn't really a way to get a point across and i apologise for that, however i do feel that the uk skydiving community could club together with the bpa as backing and start making a difference too drive down the costs of insurance and other related things and in turn the bpa having to put the membership costs years on year in order to cover it. what i was annoyed with was seeing something int he statement last year about a four figure sum being given to create a display or something in the office? and money being shovelled into a website that is very hard to navigate and find things on ... it's hard not to get upset craig y'know and i understand problem or solution.. it's just very hard to get a point across for me to anyone. if i had the time to dedicate to the council i would stand, but i have too many of my own personal things to sort out before i can start helping others. again all i really want is for uk jumpers (and attached associations) to be stop getting took to the cleaners.
  2. well i'm not going to renew my membership this year, i'm going to jump when i go abroad, i think i'll be moving to america, getting USPA membership then "visiting the uk" for a while" i also think they should make the "MAG" from the membership an option, i personnally think it's a waste of money while we're on the subject of membership. the BPA has failed on more than one occasion to provide Deaf Interpreters for the AGM and other events organised by them. This means that the deaf uk skydiving community is paying out that same as hearing members but can't simply attend the AGM seminars etc. essentially all they are getting for there money is a mag and insurance. it boils my piss to see so much money pumped into a website (which i personnally could have done a better job on) and a display for in the BPA office, when all they had to do was pay a couple of interpreters about £300 for a one off to keep the deaf skydiving community upto date with what is happening. they pay there money, they should get exactly the same as you or I do from the bpa. the bpa in my opinion is getting far too cocky increasing it's charges for compulsary membership. when you look at the cost of joining the USPA compared to ours.......... it's a joke..... yes and before people start, i KNOW it's the insurance premium that has gone up.... not eh membership part....... but as soon as the insurance company realise they are our only hope they'll keep fucking us over every year putting the price up and up and up... it's a piss take
  3. i think one of the issues here stratostar is that many "young jumpers" in terms of numbers TRY and prove themselves and end up dead ... simply because they're ego says there ready when in fact there not ..
  4. yeah i just hit reply to the thread not to individuals .. force of habit. yes i wing load at 1.28 to be exact i think however i'm comfortable at that loading. i was pointing out that i was in a rush before, and after listening (like a alot of people don't) and having my own brush with the reaper (that alot of people come off worse from unfortunaly) i've took my head out of my arse and have realised i'm just a bit of meat on a string and calmed my approach to wanting to jump a pocket rocket like yesterday ... yes i'm still loading higher than the chart or whatever but it's something my "stepped back" self if happy with and am going to stick with till i'm truley ready to move on ... (maybe next week...... joking, for you people with no sense of humour)
  5. just my input here being on the verge of getting my 200th jump and already trying to be a hot shot with a sabre 150 and nearly snapping both my legs in the process i can see that 28 jumps.. you got your licence, then you got your FS1 and IC1 now you have 50 jumps and B licence ..... it's all good, your unstoppable, your rocking at FS because you got your ticket to jump with your pals who have 100 jumps and still no FS1 .... then you get a copy of the PST 2003 vid and see the guys burning up the pond, "i like the look of that" said the munki. so i get alot of coaching and instead of stopping at each point until more coaching was available i got cocky and started 180's at about 120 jumps because i wanted to swoop. having read books, watched the out takes from out of the blue and pst more closley and seen 5 jump bud's of mine snap legs it tends to slow you down quite a bit, showing off, while when it works looks good ploughing a hole with your knees in hard grass in front of a camera and a whole DZ FULL of tandems, grannys and there pets SUCKS and it really makes you humble i was concentrating on my 90 turns to final but have decided to back up to straight in fronts till i nail the transition from dive to level flight and until i do i will be holding off the turns, even though i'm burning to "whack in a 270 and burn up the front of the manifest carving along and dragging my toe" it ain't gonna fucking happen... so theres no point in trying it until i'm skilled and experienced enough. there have been many points in my canopy progresion where i hve BEGGED to jump a smaller wing, and been denied, and thought ah you bunch of cunts... but when i look becak even 70 jumps on.... i thank the people that stood in the way. MANY people ignore the advice and do it anyway, i actuvly looked for advice and held myself back, and still do i bore the hell out of many people i meet with my passion for canopy piloting and urge everyone to get onto courses and get coaching. most people get the wrong end of the stick and think i'm telling people to learn to swoop canopy piloting is my sport that i want to excel in freeflying is my game. to excel as a sportsman you need the right attitude, the dedication and to know when to stop and get the advice of others i have now learnt a very important rule that will keep me from doing stupid things under canopy in the future there are no shortcuts to learn to swoop, it takes time, just grit your teeth and deal with it, it's frustrating, but you'll thank yourself and others for it later....

  13. am custom making a streamlined foot mount with anti snag technology and a simple remote cutaway system at the waist level, will keep people informed and besides you have to be in a pretty stupid position to get your foot caught in your lines .......
  14. sounds good to me 1) i know i have to be c licence 2) we HAVE to carry a hooknife to jump in the uk 3) the footage is going to be for the benefit of the RAPS training program at the dz 4) i've designed a bracket with a cutaway system similar to the skysurf boards (cutaway located at waist level) 5) i've got no intention of jumping it SUB C licence. thanks for clearning that up guys, i've just heard lots of different stories about this that and the other
  15. what are the current uk regulations for jumping a foot mounted or leg mounted camera? cheers Wayne
  16. hi ian, cheers for the vibes bro :) i also know a guy who recently made an error in judgement and it made me think about my progression again, as well as reading brian g's book cover to cover (for the 8th time or something like that i've lost count) i just wanted to say cracking job on the jumptown video from 03 i think it was, you posted the link to it on here very recently and had another look, got any more stuff like that you could link me up with? i really enjoyed it
  17. i'm taking a step back from my 90 approaches and going back to straight in doub;es till i nail my flare hieght for optimum distance i think i've cut a few corners previously that i shouldn't have there isn't ay quick way to learn to swoop lol but who's gonna tell anyone who wants to learn with 100 jumps to slow down, doesn't matter how many people do i still went ahead... been lucky i guess.... you only get wiser with time ... be safe mate and all the best in what you want to do
  18. so.... how come i clicked it and it went to the icarus nz website? .....
  19. good stuff again smiles another way of looking at it.. but i'm gritting my teeth and want the banner to link lol check out http://www.canopypiloting.com theres a banner there for icarus NZ .. it's an animated funky banner and it's clicky there has to be a way of doing it this way whenever i try and cause the banner to link with an invisable button it simply doesn't work or the keyframe for actually clicking it is in the up sectin of the button behaviour... and i can't clear the key frames to just kit.. they end up empty circles... it's really really annoying me now ...
