  1. The feeling I get most strongly from the American right (far right) is "If you don't agree with us, you aren't a patriot". Similarly, anyone attempting to protest against policy or change how things are done is met with "This is our America, love it (our exact conservative vision of it) or leave it" leaving absolutely no scope for the idea that others might have valid, non treasonous, opinions on how the country should be run. Bleh, party politics is ugly sometimes. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Curious

So, why do you keep posting that Clinton spied on everyones phone calls when you proudly state that you don't believe the government spies on everyones phone calls? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  3. Contradiction. First you say there is no added function, then you say there can be (Down's syndrome). As an aside, it is not always easy to say whether 'good' or 'bad' mutations are the most useful. Take sickle cell anaemia - a bad thing. However if you lived in an area badly affected by malaria you might be quite happy to have a sickle cell gene. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Tour de France

Well damn. The last time splits I looked at were half way up the final climb and Sastre was looking to have a couple of minutes on Landis in the overall standings, Landis must have given it everything to the summit and on the descent. Still, how many riders are kicking themselves to have let Pereiro regain half an hour on the road to Montelimar in stage 13. The way this tour has been raced I wouldn't even be surprised to see one of the contenders in a breakaway on the Champs Elysee Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  5. Exactly my thinking. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  6. Thanks for the reference. Interesting to note that Spetner finds evolution hard to believe because "It clashed... with my religious views". Anywy, it sounds wrong to me. Take the case of a single celled organism reproducing asexually, and encountering slightly different environments as it spreads. Without mutation there is no genetic diversity and the organism is limited in the environments it can spread to. Now say there are, oh, a hundred seperate mutations in the population. 98 of these are damaging and the organisms die before reproducing again. However 1 of them is useful in the original habitat where the mutated organism thrives and replaces the original. The other allows it to survive in a new previously unpopulated habitat. Although natural selection has eradicated 99 variants of the organism (got rid of information if you will), the combination of natural selection and mutation has resulted in 2 variants where there was only 1. Your sentance following the part I wuoted earlier is also interesting, So if all domestic cats were tabby, there would be a larger gene pool than with the many varieties there are today? 7. Without looking it up I believe that in resolution 1441 it was explicitly stated that Iraq would face military action if it did not comply to the letter of the resolution. I doubt that threat has ever appeared in resolutions against Israel. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

    Tour de France

This race is just so good! The last stage of the mountains and still no one knows who's going to win. If there was one more stage in the alps I would bet on Sastre, but he might lose time on the TT. Landis is 'probably' still out of it in the overalls. I'm happy to wait and see what happens though - the Time Trial is going to be such a battle! (And what about Rasmussen yesterday, 1st over all 4 peaks and the solo stage win. Phenomenal riding.) 9. Where did you learn that from? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

  11. But can we really trust Diana Ross on these kinds of issues? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  12. All I'm saying is, I've pointed a telescope at the moon and I couldn't see one single spaceship. So you tell me, where did all the landers and moon buggies go? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

What, you don't think she liked being the man in a relationship? "Say my name Ronald, say it!" Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I think if Bush had been around in Thatchers time he would only have been permitted to address her as 'Mistress' (Oh god that's a disturbing image - I'm off to wash my brain out with bleach) Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  15. Woah, did he push that 3rd term amendment through? Have I been asleep for three years?!? Somebody tell me what the hell's going on! Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  16. You mean the tree? No, Cyprus. The island. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  17. You do. First the 'How can animals decide to change' argument and now the 'Why can't I see animals still evolving' argument. Man you are really digging up the classics here! Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  18. But you may get people with only a handful of packjobs doing it. Before I had my own gear I rented a rig and found out on opening it had a step through packed into it. No big deal and certainly didn't need cutting away but it could have been something more serious. having said that I still wouldn't bother repacking rented gear, but I'm just lazy. 19. It always amazes me how many creationists think evolution is driven by conscious desire to change on the part of the animal. Do you even realise how moronic that is and how much you've been lied to by your precious anti-Darwinism 'experts' that fill your head with these ridiculous falsehoods? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  20. Holy Foking Shit! Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  21. Speed skydivers place them on their rigs' laterals for competition measuring. As far as I am aware the main drawbacks of having the logger in the helmet is the spikes caused by head movement, resulting in unrealistic peak highs and lows (and messy jumptrack graphs as a result). I don't think this will have much effect on 1st and 2nd half and full dive average speeds as displayed on the protrack readout. What suit are you using and what are your speeds? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  22. Fuck no, I'm being a massive hypocrite here. In fact I think a lot of the time its safer to be doing 80 / 85 on the motorway than doing 70 and causing other motorists to have to slow down, change lanes, overtake etc. It would be nice if poor lane discipline was cracked down on like speeding too. @ the two tickets thing, you're not the only one. There was a woman recently making a big protest 'cos she got caught by 4 camera's on the same stretch of road and lost her license for, essentially, speeding once. Fuckin' sucks. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  23. Thats more what i'm getting at. A diplomatic solution would have been ideal. Large scale conflict is never ideal, it should be (as Paj said) a last resort. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  24. Better than /= Ideal. Successful diplomacy is usually the ideal solution that people hope for. And when the identifiable enemy is defeated? What do you think might happen then? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  25. Ideal? How can an all out war ever be ideal. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
