    Now you’re making stuff up because that’s not what I said you said. You specifically said you CAN’T HAVE natural variability and global warming. You said it could only possibly be one or the other. And not just once, you’ve said over an over again that CO2 arming can’t be real if one year is ever colder than the year before. So again, why should anyone listen to anything you say about climate?

    As Joe says, it’s nowhere near half - but the number there are have very effectively taken over the party structure that is supposed to be representing the half that they are part of. 
     

    So when you have the hugely disproportionate control over policy from a group of people so extreme it’s and divisive that they call Liz Fucking Cheney part of the liberal machine, what are you supposed to do? Not call it out, and just let them get in with it because making waves is bad?

    As much as Mitch McConnell damaged politics, pulled the levers of power to create policies and structure grossly at odd with the democratic will of the people, and fostered the unchecked growth of extremism in the GOP… he is at least a sane person who understands that government is important and at some point you have to be willing to compromise if the only alternative is a government that does not work at all. 
     

    So while he is a better devil than the ‘burn it all down if we don’t get what we want because total victory is the only thing that matters’ crazy MAGA person who might succeed him, it is also largely his fault that his successor might be such a person.

    That's cool. Interestingly Diesel engines are enjoying huge success in the light aircraft market right now - Diamond alone sell a heck of a lot of them. They're heavier than equivalent hp aircooled petrols, but with a much lower fuel burn and JetA is 60% the cost of Avgas (at least over here).

    So what is that global warming does that makes an El Nino / La Nina cycle of warming and cooling impossible? What's the physical mechanism of CO2 build up that means a massive ocean current must stop flowing?

    She actually made a joke about the craziness of taking economics advice from Joe Biden. At a conference she was invited to speak at. After what she did 18 months ago. I’ll give you two guesses whose economy has done better since then, and you won’t need the second one.

    They've more than flirted with authoritarianism by cosying up to proto-dictators like Viktor Orban for a few years, but now they're so comfortable with it they can say stuff like this out loud and not even flinch.     How on earth is this shower of radicals and idiots gaining so much of the mainstream space in right wing politics? How can anyone take them seriously? They invited Liz Truss - a politician so inept that she managed to break the British economy in a premiership that lasted less than two months - to give a speech and applauded her just because she blamed it all on woke.

    Where is the marketplace of ideas that Ron used to bang on about?

    The ruling basically stated that no Black person in any free or slave state could ever be considered a citizen. It basically made the civil war inevitable.

    Another real piece of real history that people like Nikki Haley have to ignore when claiming that the US has never been a racist country.

    Of course it’s not just stupidity. They both know that their entire line of attack on Biden is an exercise in political opportunism and revenge for the Trump impeachments. That’s why they’re doing what they’re doing, quality of evidence is irrelevant.
     

    Now Comer might just be dumb enough to have convinced himself that he really is the second coming of Jimmy Stewart, but with Jordan it’s cynicism all the way. He can’t have been taken in by a foreign agent because he never would have given a single thought to whether the information is true. He doesn’t care if it’s true. Similarly he’s not part of the Russian conspiracy because he doesn’t care where the information came from, what their goals are or even if another country is trying to benefit from it at the expense of the US. 
     

    The only thing he will have considered at any point in time is ‘can I use this to benefit me right now.’
