    Prepping?

It may only be hindsight for you but not for the rest us. This is exactly what you were being told at the time. The fact that you appear to be conceding that the travel ban was useless, while you're still trying to bash us for not supporting it is frankly baffling.

    Prepping?

Then you weren't ok with taking any real measures to stop the virus. Under the criteria the Chinese border "closure" was just xenophobic security theatre. Not just shutting the stable door after the horse had bolted, but leaving the back door open for all the other horses to escape too.

    Prepping?

Then defend your suggestion that states would need to be consolidated if the EC was abolished. How would it make any difference?

    Prepping?

Only because you've been brainwashed into thinking that states are like people. That a red state is a unified homogenous blob of conservative thought and a blue state contains nothing but liberal principles. It's nonsense. Like your suggestion that you'd have to redistrict all the states to make a non EC election work.... Dude. Think about it. If the EC didn't exist the makeup of the states wouldn't make any difference. There would still be the same number of people living in the same places with the same regional concerns voting the same way. So what? Elections are generally decided by a few swing states anyway. You could just as well say that under the EC a President is elected by Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina and a couple of others. So if only a few states are going to have all that power, why is it better that those states contain fewer humans?
  5. Wow. Says she went to her car, retrieved her gun, got back out and shot the person she was arguing with..... in self defence. I suppose that is the kind of logic needed to think Trump’s doing a good job.

    covid-19

Wen it starts to affect them, independents will start judging independently. When it doesn't they're more likely to go with their right or left lean. The airline/border shutdown was a useless overreaction, in that neither were done properly or in time, and weren't backed up with strong enough domestic measures that would have made a real difference.

Thanks Captain Obvious. That was the point.

    Q

Would be? They actually are. His posts don't break the rules therefore they stand unchallenged. Ipso facto the standard is being applied.
  9. An American security contractor just tried to invade Venezuela with pretty much the exact same plan.
  10. George Floyd once served 10 months in prison on a charge of supplying $10 of drugs, on the word of a cop with a history of fabricating evidence. This fat old white guy effectively steals a quarter of a billion in public money and pleads down to a misdemeanour with no jail time. Freedom really isn't free, you only get it if you can afford it. Of course. Why wouldn't another rich career criminal be welcomed into the Trump orbit with open arms, so he can make more money selling access to Trump to other career criminals from around the world. Yet more evidence of the sheer insanity of anyone who rails against 'the elite' but supports Trump. No-one knows more about elitism than Trump, believe me...

    Q

They allow Biden and the Dems the exact same amount of free access that they allow Trump. It’s not Twitter’s fault that only one side respects the terms of service.

    covid-19

And totally shut out the experienced professionals already in place whose job it was to know how to get that done. All because the private sector must be better on principle. They keep saying Biden wants to be like communist China - but putting political dogma above cold reality and consequences be damned the way Trump’s administration always does sounds exactly like the Maoist MO to me.
  13. It would have been sensible enough to distance.

    Q

It’s not a first amendment issue. How does a great patriot like you get to be so clueless about your own laws?
  15. I just saw that apparently he stopped so low as to deny his own grandmother had died from Covid, despite it being listed on her death certificate. If he does get a serious case I can imagine him carrying on like the black knight, being wheeled around in a ventilator while whoever’s left in the press office insists it’s only a flesh wound.
  16. I’m sure that personal experience of Trump fighting the coronavirus with the help of his personal, dedicated staff of 20 doctors and an entire medical wing just for him will be of great relevance to the average Joe.
  17. And yet there was value in taking him to an actual hospital in the first place.
  18. No, you don't understand. There are a bunch of people saying it's impossible to tell if Trump is recovered enough to go home yet. The course of a significant number of serious cases requiring intensive care is for patients to rapidly deteriorate around a week after first developing symptoms despite having seemed to be recovering well from a mild case. It is precisely because his doctors can't predict if he'll be ok or not that it is stupid for him to leave hospital. If he recovers well from now on that still won't make him right or the critics wrong.
  19. That makes no sense. What exactly do you think you mean?
  20. First, the really great drugs they have still don’t negate the possibly for covid patients to suddenly deteriorate around a week after symptoms start. Boris Johnson was feeling ok until he was suddenly in intensive care. Second, how predictable it is that the WH is spinning this utter fuckup born of their own flouting of almost every aspect of public health advice into a triumph of their ‘pragmatic‘ approach. That the pure chance that Trump isn’t severely ill or dying (yet) shows that covid is something everyone can just get through as long as they don’t overreact.
  21. Who could possibly have seen that coming when the WH were clearly obfuscating the timeline. The chaos, incompetence and dishonesty characterising their handling of the Trump outbreak is almost a perfect microcosm of his entire administration.
  22. While Trump's infection is prbably true, it's worth pointing out that his US Navy doctor has just admitted lying to the public about his treatment.

  24. From WaPo "Christie was in close contact with Trump and other senior officials in recent days. He attended the event in the Rose Garden last Saturday where Trump announced his pick to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. At one point, he was seen hugging Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), who also has tested positive for the virus. On Sunday, Christie attended a news conference in the White House briefing room, along with press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and the president’s personal attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani. They could be seen huddling close to one another, none of them wearing masks." But hey, let's all remember that Pelosi went for a haircut that one time. She's the real villain here.
