  1. I'm very interested. I've been thinking of taking Sandy Reid's course at Eloy. This winter is too soon, however. I'm way overcommitted at the moment. Next fall or winter would be best for me. (Arizona summers don't sound very appealing.) Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

    Yankee or Dixie?

83% Dixie, even though I haven't lived there for 26 years. Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

    kicked off dz

Our DZO banned a jumper for whining and foul language. It was a regular occurrence, though - not a single incident. Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  4. At my DZ it's $12. If you don't have a C license then it's a dollar more (the farmer who owns the student landing area gets $1 per landing). I usually do hop'n'pops from 4k which is $1 less. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  5. Yep. I've only been around here for a year, and even I can feel the trend. I find myself not posting a lot because I get tired of people not taking things in the lighthearted spirit I intended. (lighthearted suggestion for PK deleted) Note to whomever it may concern: I'm self-employed. If you send something to my employer, I'll just pass it around the office and we'll all get a good laugh. DZ.Weight Watchers

My numbers are 235 / 208 / 185 / 27 I've been working on it for about a year. Most of my weight loss happened near the beginning and I've been stuck on a plateau for a while, but I'm ready to start making progress again. I gained about 10 lbs. at thanksgiving, but I'm happy to report that I've lost that by now. I'm doing freeweights, jogging / treadmill, and watching my diet. I used the South Beach diet with good results to get started. These days I mostly focus on portion control. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

    Panty lines??

If a girl's really attractive a panty line's not going to change that, but I think it's classier not to see them. I feel about the same way about bra lines, and a little less so about bra straps. I mean, a peekaboo view of a bra strap is no big deal, but I think it's exceedingly tacky when a woman wears a top that deliberately leaves her shoulders bare (no problem so far!) and then wears a normal bra so the straps are inches from any material that could possibly cover them. Eeeeeww. Where are the fashion police when you really need them? Spencer (sick today, so I'm spending far too much time online...) "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

    Tan Lines?

I guess I'm in the 10% that prefers not to see tan lines, but it's not that big a deal. We can always turn out the light and see if I can feel them. Of course, it might take a few hours to be sure. Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  9. Probably not. I've met Craig, plus Dennis, Eliana, Neal, Mark, and Kirk, but none of them appear to exist on dropzone.com. Why, thanks, Rosa. I love you, too. Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  10. Okay. Perhaps I was being a bit hasty. Let me try again: If you haven't met Amazon, Sunshine, or VanillaSkyGirl, you probably haven't been a jumper very long. I think the exceptions to this rule will be few indeed. Spencer (who hasn't met Rosa or been kissed by Sunny. Yet.) PS - Jeanne, I don't think the corn would be a problem early in the season, before those nasty ears develop. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  11. Forget Kevin Bacon. In skydiving you don't exist if Jeanne hasn't met you. Pop quiz: can anyone name a dropzone she hasn't visited? "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  12. Here are the ones I've met (whose dz.com userids I've been able to find). I'm surprised by how many jumpers I know who don't seem to be using dropzone.com. The list of people I've met on dropzone.com that I want to meet in person is considerably longer. 3ringheathen ACMESkydiver Amazon Aut Bandanarama FLYBERT71 FlyingSquirrel FrogNog GogglesNTeeth aka DJatLarge Hbomb IBTOMP aka tommyp KellyF MarkHarju Moose MustangUSN OutOfTheBlue SeaKev Shayla Shydi TVHigley aironscott ben_jacobson blueskiesguy cassielou jrcrackers karenmeal northspy paulb aka red aka martini skydolphin aka rhonda timgramley tommyh tsg444 tysonh vladira "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  13. Makes perfect sense to me. Does that mean that I need therapy? Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  14. I'm a fair bit heavier than you (245 out the door) and I started with a Spectre 210 and a PDR 218. The Spectre is about as viceless as they come, but it actually has a flatter glide than the Sabre2, and you can swoop it a little. I'm sure you'll like it. Any new ZP canopy is going to be a bear to pack, but the Spectre won't bite you if your packing is a bit sloppy. I have one reserve ride on my 218 (and 4 demos of one rigged as a main). It was easy to land even at my weight, so I don't think you'll have a problem. The handling is fairly similar to the Spectre, but it flies slower and has a bit more flare. I've never heard anything bad about the Smart reserve, either, and I have quite a few friends who jump them. best of luck, Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
  15. I think the word "selfish" gets a bad rap. There's nothing wrong with wanting your needs to be met. It's when that's the only thing you care about that it's a problem. Some people insist that even altruism is selfish - you do it to make yourself feel good. I can live with that. I need someone to be nice to, and I'd really prefer that that person be nice to me. If that makes me selfish, so be it. Kelly - keep looking for a guy who'll love you back, or stick around for a while and see if you can nurture that feeling in this guy. Either way, don't feel bad about it. Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
