  1. Outstanding!!! Welcome home!!!! I am headed back over there for the 4th time, 2nd time this year. Thanks for the work you did over there and glad to hear your returning home, Brother!
  2. http://h1070964.hobbyshopnow.com/services/advanceresultsDetail.asp?strProd=SKY+SURFER&strSearchType=ALL&strInCategory=ALL&strInManufacturer=ALL&tag=asrch http://h1070964.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=HBZ7800 I am sure that this is NOT what you want, Someone to show you what you are trying to build and saying that you could just buy it.....But just in case. I am trying to make my own jumper from scratch as well. I'm going to have head out to the Local DZ and take measurements.
  3. Still looking for info....I'll be heading out to the local DZ to see if I can get some measurements from some actual chutes. Any additional info would be great!!!!
  4. NEVER change your grip when the bike it going vertical......I don't imagine he will get "lucky" after that stunt. Maybe he can lick her wounds.....
  5. I'll PM you. I am planning on dropping it from my 1/4 scale Piper Cub with a 10' wing span and about a 10 lbs load. It will be remotely controlled and I'll have a 12 or 13" "guy" It will be a wood frame like a person that will house the radio gear and each arm will get the servo so that when actualed the arm will drop and the breaks will induce a turn just like on a Real rig. There are many people out in Holand who have been able to make these work but they have gone comercial and like I said before I hate to buy something that I can make! How are you involved with the Mk-79s on your web page? I'll PM you later on.
  6. Yeah I thought about using the whole Kite thing but I have all this Material to use up and I'd rather build it. I have all the other things worked out....Pilot chute, Container, Dude, Risers, All I need are the plans to make the RAM chute. You are right about the R&D to figure out how to best fly it and at what weight but I am trying to get my young Daughters into more exciting things than playing with their Barbies when they could be flying them.... An OLD bag design would work for what I need to do. Nothing fancy just something that will work.
  7. I'm looking at trying to make a small 6' RAM Parachute for dropping from an RC Plane. I looked in the previous posts and there is only talk of ones that can be purchased. I have an OLD chute that I will give me loads of material to make one of my own......But I need plans to build one with! Any help or directions on where to try to get some scale plans? I'm not looking for industry secrets just a RAM chute that will carry a guy and look real!!!!
  8. Glad to hear everyone made it out in fair shape. I am about to begin training and your post, as well the others who post, help to shed light on how serious our sport is. Even if there isn't a clear cause or reason for some of the mishaps it can help to keep us aware of the hazards. Again glad to hear everyone is still with us.
  9. Thanks for doing the leg work to disprove the 45deg rule. I am just starting out and it will be an example that I bring with me on every jump. Off topic-----Where are the pix from? We don't get Mountains like that in Florida, just the "twin peaks" kind! GREAT pix!!!!
  10. I will be right behind you. I start my AFF course on the 27th of March. What was your favorite jump?
  11. RUSH album cover!! Kickin' band! I am about to make my jump into the sport too. I have been through the Army Airborne school and then I went to Orlando to try Skyventure and then I went to Deland and Palatka to check out the action and I am HOOKED!!!!!! As soon as I get back inport and off this BIG gray floating Airport (Aircraft Carrier) I'll be heading out to the DZ and taking my plunge. Still trying to decide on AFF or Static though. Either course Costs right about $1,000. Your Tandem progression sounds like a good way to go too. Let us know how you do! It is great not being a "LEG".
  12. What part of the DZ was the tree? I was heading south on I-95 when there was a lone jumper on the east side of the field. I'll have to stop by and say hi on one of my trips to Norfolk,Va.
  13. WOW, That is fast! If I knock out my AFF Course and then go on cruise I might get to jump overseas and any additional training that I get or require when I return to the states will be good training and cout towards my required jumps for the final lisence, right. I am at sea right now so I can't get to my local DZ but when I return I'll work with them and get lined up with an instructor. Thanks for your help! I can't wait to FLY again, I have been walking the earth as a "LEG" for too long since I have been under canopy!
  14. I have looked into all the training methods and I am going to go with AFF. However I will be departing the country for half a year to defend my counrty and have a small amount of time left in the states. I almost have the $1K for the prepaid course. I'd like to see what the average time (I know that mistakes are often made and cause set backs) it takes to complete the USPA AFF course? I have been flying small private planes since 1988 and have been through Army Airborne training as well as had a session at Orlando Airventure and was shaky on my first time in the tunnel but was stable and was able to do 360 Deg turns in there on my second go. I hope to finish my AFF before I leave on Cruise and then take some refreser training when I return and then work on my "A" card.
  15. Having all the info out there on the styles and functionality of helmets. What would a seasoned jumper recomemnd for a "Leg" that is just starting out and wants to buy the correct helmet the first time? All I think that I'll want to do is some free flying and a little formation stuff down the road. When I have jumped in the past I had a BIG kevlar helmet on that prevented the C-130 from beating you up when you don't get out far enough.
