  1. I'm having the opposite problem...the muscles surrounding my ribs are 'splinting', which the Dr. told me means they are rigid and locked tight. The pain is coming from them being locked up all the time, so muscle relaxers were prescribed to help loosen them up. It's helping a little...hot shower before bed may help, too! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  2. We don't have a recliner, but I'm piling on a TON of pillows to try to make that 'shape' in my bed. I am really trying to do these exercises that PT has given me, but man it hurts to try to look down at all. Doc says I tore all of those muscles at the base of my neck & I sure do feel it. Thanks for all of the suggestions & well-wishes, everybody. Very sweet of you. I am definitely putting this advice to good use.
  3. I'm definitely going to keep track of this with my primary care doc. I do have a referral to PT; I am seeing them twice per week. At least my chiro and PT are agreeing on treatment and the issues at hand! That's kind of cool, and kind of rare I think... This 'heat' coming off of the injury sites is totally tripping me out. PT says it's typical...it's just crazy though. If I sit in one position too long, it feels like someone's got a hot frying pan on the back of my neck or spine. I keep getting up to see if I forgot a heating pad behind me or something. Crazy feeling. PT taped my back today - a big 'X' to help pull my traps back to try to relieve some pressure from spasming neck/trap muscles that are worsening my headaches. I think it has helped. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  4. 2000 Ford Escort vs. 1995 Ford F250. He won. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  5. Friends are so sympathetic and supportive after an injury, ain't they? ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  6. I'm not sure about wrapping...'bruised' is the best way that I can describe the pain, but technically, the muscles between each rib are spasming and locked up. It feels like I picked a fight with an MMA guy. That's why I have submitted to taking the muscle relaxer...because otherwise, nothing will release these spasming muscles around my ribs and neck. X-Rays show 3 of my cervical vertebrae won't move at all because the muscles won't release. It's weird. I've been icing...and heating...maybe wrapping might let the muscles chill out? Because they'll feel supported? I'll ask PT today... ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  7. Think I'll go to Wally World today and pick one up...that's a beauty idea. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  8. that, and wash it down with st. michelle gewurztraminer, or if you prefer red, menage a trios. (the wine, not the sex). That's a pretty sweet wine...I like them sweet. I had half a bottle left of that here in my fridge up until about a week ago. I am trying REALLY REALLY hard to stay off of the Rx meds...i am taking Skelaxin (muscle relaxer) and trying to NOT ask for any Vicodin. I've been managing w/Extra strength Tylenol about once per day. I'm also using a T.E.N.S machine that I bought a few years ago...and Tiger Balm/Icy-Hot patches. I'm seeing a chiropractor, a physical therapist, and I'll get a massage today (yea!). Sounds like overkill I know, but I just cannot get to a point where I am without pain. The daily headaches are horrid. I haven't had any alcohol at all for a couple of months (everyone else around here drank the wine)...I am really trying to not allow myself to get to a point where I am 'needing' meds and alcohol, because given my history, it's a potential danger. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  9. I know with this group somebody MUST have some kind of experience with this... I got in ANOTHER freaking car accident on March 11th. Got rear-ended in my lil' Escort by an F250. That freaking hurt. I didn't think it was that bad...no ambulance, but my car is totalled. Then about a week later, I'm in so much pain I'm just going out of my mind. 3 problems: neck (I was stopped at a light looking down at my hands and >WHAM< the dude hits me). The headrest slammed into my head, back and ribs slammed into the seat, etc... The right side of my pelvis was knocked out of alignment. Sacrum (sp??) was tilted, thoracic was torqued, and my neck is a real fucking mess... So WHAT POSITION can I freaking sleep in that won't kill my ribs?!?!? I lie flat on my back with a roll under my neck and my neck is ok...legs elevated a bit and my pelvis doesn't hurt, but then my ribs are just aching. Dammit I am such a baby with chronic pain... I can't lay on my stomach because it kills my neck...? ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  10. That's it right there. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

  16. Yeah, take it easy on it! Ice, ice ice...I know rest and elevation an' stuff, but ICE is your friend. I am developing a lovely case of either strepp or bronchitis...unless it's possible for one to lead to the other. Then I think I have over acheived and developed both. Fuck me... ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

  21. But how will we know if you really are losing weight, if we don't have "before" and "after" pics? Well I'm not really to a real *after* point yet. I have lost 37.3 pounds, and have quite a bit more to go. When I get down to a healthy weight, I will post before and after pics. Oh, if you meant just the boobs, well you'll just have to look close in the pics. I'm not going to be zeroing in on that area when I've lost 2 sizes there alone. >sigh again
  22. There will be no submissions from me this thread. Losing weight has a couple of unfortunate *disadvantages*. >sigh< ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  23. Celery is your friend. When I have to munch I'm trying to eat things that 'don't count'. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
  24. Hey! What's up? Friday I missed my Zumba in the morning, but I Zumba'd at the gym's 2nd location. Saturday and Sunday I was off. Yesterday, I did Zumba at 11am. This morning I was supposed to do my step and lift, but the truck caught on fire in the driveway. -I'm ok, no flames, just a bunch of smoke. I'm waiting on the tow truck now. As for diet, I'm still on my religious fast, so I'm only eating all-natural foods, no bleached flours, only form of sugar is cane juice or evaporated cane juice, and honestly I have LOST MY APPETITE!
