  1. you make a very good point at that, and i somewhat agree with you. but, its still beautiful to jump from that place, no matter how you got to the top. Some paraglider pilots say that paramotoring is cheating, and un-pure. and they are right. but most of them have never done it, and the always have to hike up and have perfect weather. a paramotor can fly whenever they want for the most part. im not a paramotor, but i would if i had the 6000 US to buy one. paragliding is plenty for me at the moment. I would ride the chopper when i got tired if i was there. that one hoser did say something like "base jumps are not meant to be gobled up like skydives", or something like that, and he was correct. but there is something to be said about 11 big wall BASE jumps in one day. there is also purity to hiking the whole 2000 meters, and making one or 2 jumps in a day. i dont plan on going when the chopper is there.
  2. I jumped with nothing but an unvented 42" PC for the first 70 BASE jumps i had, that includes big walls, 2000' As, a 180' hand held free fall, 70 is not including a ton of bandit loads. I did have a dagger 222, so it was a leightweight small parachute in a Warlock, so i would use a 42" pc again off 180'. it was no problem for 3 jumps.
  3. exactly 731' 2". no farther, no closer. period.
  4. what a waste of rope. it does seem like they know wht they are doing. PS-i HATE the USA. a lot. but, i can fly airplanes here. thats all its got goinf for it.

    Going Up . . . ?

I have been waiting for that for about 8 years. i bet they will cost about 2000 euro at least.
  6. I have freinds at princeton doing what is called urban exploring and buildering, hard core shit if youask me (and that is saying something) they put the pics on Facebook and all of them got special visits from popo man.
  7. i cant tell what the system is they are using, we dont use helmets on frasca, or most of our other hucks. there are some we do where tree impacts happen almost every jump, and we always where helmets with those, but i dont know what those guys are doing. there might be enough energy absorbsion in the system to not warrent a swing back, or there could be a energy absorbing belay (swing line), to stop the swing.
  8. ok... the rope they are useing looks to me to be about 5 ropes bundled to gether, greebn man was righ about the UIAA fall testing requirments for ropes, its is a climbing testing company that does that. whoever said 'the longer the fall, the more the rope stretches' was correct, a 1.7 factor fall means that you fall 17' on 10 feet of rope. factor is just a ratio. now, for climbing purposes, a 1.7 facor fall os about as bad as you can get, the worst being factor 2 fall. meaning you would be leading, be 10' abouve your belay/anchor, and would send. falling past him, another 10 feet, so a 20' fall on 10' of line. this jump in the video, is about what seems to me, an ACTUAL fall factor of less than ONE. However, there is a lot more to it than that, this is a SWING, meaning the fall is not being abrorbed by the rope, pretty much just like frasca. i would say the THEORETICAL fall factor of this jump is around .1 (1/10) I could show you the 'math' for this stuff, useing graphing and shite, but really, the only way to tell how much force is on the line is to use a load cell. Math, can only give you the fall factor. you could get kinda close to force, but its not worth it. (trust me, me and the boys have spent 6 years doing that stuff)
  9. Me and the boys decided to do our monthly 3 way at the dropzone, and decided to do our favorite, Crew. Amature crew. not terrible bad amature, I have about Crw jumps, the other 2 guys, 10 each. wanted to get the best out of the jump, exit from 18,000, 12,000 agl. decided to do a quick exit, as fast as possible. we are used to our BASE canopies being on heading maybe. took 2-3 seconds between jumpers. not bad, but we are useing sail sliders, on 1.3 loaded sabers and saber2s, order was alex, nick, me. I must have exited at 3 seconds, and nick, well he snivvled, A LOT. I fumbled with the dump as well. while keeping canopy on heading through snivvle, i glance up and right, to see nic coming at me, fast. not to fast to dock fast, but the kind when 2 FAST canopies are coming at eachother, in full flight. nic had a 180. I went for my hook knife chest mount, and got myself ready go through his lines. had i impacted his body, there is no doubt in my head i would have either killed him or put him in the hospital for a long time. from the first time i noticed him to the impact was about a half second. I fealt the right riser tension up, and the canopy got jerked back behind me, and i realised i had not gone through his lines, amazing, i was sure i would. then, the canopy came back above me, spun once, and re-inflated. I had only hit the righ half of my canopy on the right half of his, took us both out for a few hundred feet, but thats it. lady luck i might say. Holy Shite. just a story, but still. Lesson of the day, either 4 seconds, or mesh sliders. We continued the jump, got a few docks out of it, and almost landed out as usual. I have not been that close to going in since last year this time.
  10. hehe... last time we set up frasca, (november 06) i brought the GF, and she stood there for about 20mn geared up, ready to go. she was so freaked out. after the line got restless, i asked her if she wanted me to push her. she said 'maybe' a half second later, she was ass over teakettle freefalling for 70meters, thanks to a healthy shove from me.
  11. very nice, i wish i knew the designers. anyone? looks a bit, amature-driven however. (professionaly designed, but made for whuffos)
  12. I do have a serious side sometimes we need a one eyebrow raised funny look smily.
  13. Ahh... that makes sense. My bad. I would delete it, but i would seem like more of a moron.
  14. Clueless. whatever man, those guys are fucked. have you ever seen CSI? they can figure out anything on them computers. we should make a show, a cross between COPS and Stunt Junkies. -SPACE-
  15. after reading that old locked thread, i noticed some hoser from supertopo (climbers) site posting wanting to know how short of a drop we do, only, in the thread of the 'missing' jumper. I wonder how that happened
  16. holy shite, i totaly remember that. kinda. only a little. so, can we still tar and feather him?
  17. who are you? I was in a coma myself, so i dont remember anything about this. someone explain.
  18. thanks man, funny thing is, i didnt take but 2 of those pictures, and they were all on my canon digital elph s500, i would set the camera up in its manual function, turn on the multiffram (3.5frames/sec) set the exposure, and hand it to ground crew. tell them, hold this button down when i exit. now thanks to Bazil i have a D400 with a BAD ASS lense, and i can take even better shots. but, , , its winter. -SPACE-
