  1. The center cell has no vent, the oustide cells (2,3,5,6) have vents so they presurize first, the center has no Vent so it is staysflat from the low pressure inside it until air comes in from the nose and crossvents. what you see is valve technology at work -SPACE-
  2. That would be great, I am assuming you will be there, i will message before we leave -SPACE-
  3. will probably go to moab for a cliff or two after perrine-mon/tues, then fly back to boulder to get the rope gear and a few cars. be in moab for turkey boogie wed night, be at walshmans walk bright and early thursday morn, rope jumping by 2pm.
  4. PETER? shit, now i have to get out there, to jump with the man who got me my A! and caught me doing deep moab soloes for my 6th base jump! How you been my freind?
  5. I think Alex and I are flying the plane out Saturday Night, and jump all day sunday, If Him or me could use one that day it would Be great. I am trying to get one of adams, then i dont have to make alex use a baby parachute (he is 178lbs, my gear is a dagger222) so hopefully that will work out. cheers -SPACE-
  6. Alex and i are thinking about it also! sweet!, maybe could i use one of your 8 rigs for a day or two? Alex will be using mine. and i posted the pics of the V1 jump on the wingsuit forum... -SPACE-
  7. Here are the pics, Forward motion was def. achieved. I told him the PCA was a pansy move and that i would freefall it but i also told him i would take it to the river, and he didnt want me getting his nice new V1 all wet. HA! kidding, it was funny and cool all at the same time a word on the load... it was a zoo. I jumped a freinds rig (tardover) a rock draggon 303, That thing was big! (i weigh 140 soaking wet) it was crazy. I like how you can see the help from the bottom vents, there is no vent on the center cell! cool! my 2 best freinds since the 1st grade also made their first BASE jumps on this load. what a great day! -SPACE-
  8. "at a recent funeral for a friend of mine, someone asked me pretty much the same question.... i got pissed off for a second, then stated : "pretty much the polar opposite of this...."" Cheers... thats perfect.

i know its not quite the same,but... On a local S a freind and i do a regular rope jump, a very simple 170' single point rope system known as a bridge swing. a series of mistakes (7 to be exact, after going through everything the next day) including Laser measuring problems, grigri problems, brand new ropes, and a few just weird things that we always do correctly but for some reason all came down wrong on the same night. before first jump at 1am, gearing up fealt weird, perfectly still night, not terribly cold. the kind that usually gives good moral. as i climbed over the guardrail i fealt like i had never rope hucked before, and i had jumped this bridge 50 or more times. i shook it off and jumped, and then in freefall is when it really got weird, i could see everything and it looked LONG. i remember locking the grigri off hard and watching my reserve line come tight, as the system stretched out of the corner of my eye i saw the guardrail of the small bridge below at eye level and i rolled my ankle lightly on the pavement, then rocketed back into the air, ended up swinging 10' above the ground. we usualy push that one low, but never near that. and the new ropes among other things contributed. now we prestretch ropes, and i listen to my gut.
  10. This does not count as my B, (hell, i AM a loser) but, i thought it was pretty cool. In my hometown, a mall was being torn down, and in the early parts of it, some freinds and me broke into the place and set up a jump in the old Atrium. The Valted ceilings were around 90', and the ceiling windows yeilded nicely to our bricks and made perfect exit points. The freefall was only 50' or so, but we had full reign of the place for about a week before it got completely torn down. It was great fun swinging inside with all the old arcade games and other weird earthbound peoplestuff one finds in a mall.
  11. I F***** HATE VIDEO GAMES. But jaap, if you made it, i would buy a Xplaystaionbox64 thing and play the hell out of it. Cheers.
  12. "High speed bandit rigging sounds pretty frightening to me. " With excellent scouting, and prerigging, the way we did it, it was incredibly safe. I didnt hesitate. The only thing is, unless its a rural B, only 1 jump can be made, unless 2(sets of main and reserve) lines are set up off the main anchors. When we did it, only 1 jump was made. I had a lot of climbers who knew what they were doing with the gear help out. definatly no solo jobs.
  13. I actualy have my ROPE-BASE.... (yeah, i'm that big of a loser) If anybody wants details pm me, i never worried much about it, but after i did the B, i had to finish it so we did a night at the A. Buildings are quite easy if you can get access to 2 next to each other. (like high rise college dorms) well, easy physicaly, just illegal. A's get complex, only done it once, and used the bottem 400' of a really big one, and we used the wires for some creative rigging. bridges are easy Cliffs are our specialty. -SPACE-
  14. "You cannot recover lockout unless line tension is released, and humans usualy cannot react fast enough." our release is in our teeth, a 3to1 step down much like a 3 ring but fabric, the last loop is held in ones teeth so releasing does not even take a reaction, just release jaw. we thought of this because we were worried about messing up a launch and getting knocked out before we could pull a release handle, it also does not take a hand away from flying the canopy.
  15. yeah, we just built a payout system and it worked great just a half hour ago, the speed we needed seemed a lot more tame, we needed more distance but it worked great. went all the way to 700'. we are using a paraglider now also on the same system... we are going to have a lot of fun with this. ... -SPACE-
  16. Agreed, the fixed length is dangerous we are working on a "constant tension payout winch/belay" i have used these on HG tows, but they are kinda expensive to buy, and complex to build. tonight we are trying a brake bar. --The cord we are using is very dynamic, the weak link is now 150lbs, and the line stretches 20% at 150lbs,we can tell this has helped a lot but we still think we need a payout winch, it will also help with absolute altitude, and decrease the launch area needed.
  17. "*If you're going to be cutting away from the tow line, make sure the handle is easily accessible." NOOOOO! there is not a chance in hell i would let myself be towed without a FAST release on me and a secondary on the tow vehicle. when i did it from the boat, a 2 people HELD the tow line in the boat, i think that is a very good way to do it.
  18. our release system is much better and faster than the ones these people were using, they are the same ones i used to tow hang gliders with. and the harnesses we are using are different. oh, and the tow line is 1200' long. altitude is good.
  19. cut and paste by Dexter from Dexter's forum- Thanks. There was also a fatal incident very recently (a couple months ago) doing this. I will not post names or a location because it's not my place. However, since there seems to be an interest in attempting this, I will post a little. *The jumper was being towed by a pickup truck. *The rope length was approximately 200 feet. *The canopy was a large 9 cell *The jumper was a reasonably experienced canopy pilot. *There was a cutaway system (3 ring) attached to the chest strap and connected to the tow rope. The jumpers were intentionally cutting away from the tow rope for landing. The accident: Jumper is successfully launched and pulled to altitude. The canopy started to crab to the side towards a downsloping hillside. Jumper corrects heading and then the canopy drops to the ground. It is unsure if the canopy collapsed or if the tension in the rope compounded the canopy corrections resulting in a dive. A couple points to think about if you're going to try this. *The tow vehicle should pull in a straight line and avoid turning! *Keep canopy corrections to a minimum. *If you're going to be cutting away from the tow line, make sure the handle is easily accessible. *IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRY THIS, HOOK THE CANOPY UP TO THE RESERVE RISERS!!! An unintentional cutaway will be catastrophic. *Consider not doing this at all. I lost a friend this way.
  20. actually thats perfect, thanks rhonda. i just have never been to any of the skydiving forums. most of them say "11,899,675 New" or something like that. -SPACE-
  21. PS... i would say our balls are now medium sized. small enough to keep us aware and under control, yet heavy enough to keep us creative. we are trying to figure stuff out safely, with our modest testicles, and hopefully have some really cool stuff to give back to a really cool sport.
  22. the first few under the stilletto i said "that almost killed me" so we dont use the ZP eliptical high performance canopy anymore. but we seem to have the BASE canopy figured out, somewhat. we will be carefull, thank you .. -SPACE-
  23. a small crew and i will be there this weekend. (the 11-13th) we would like to have some people to jump with! tom- have you gotten holly j off the bridge yet? edited because i cant spell -SPACE-
  24. Anybody do a lot of it? i have been behind a boat and a car lately with my dagger 220, and a stilletto 150. just want to see if anybody has a lot of experience with it. maybe some does and donts. i have a background in hangglider and paraglider towing, so we -kinda- know what we are doing PS- i KNOW it is really dangerous. as usual im not looking for a lecture. i have read about people who have died doing it.
