  1. I would expect a bit more than 2.5 is possible with the huge suits we have today. And that is without transient effects or help from updrafts. The competition rules allow for diving before the measurement phase so we can only say the performance is at best what we get from there but normally lower. However, with today's suits being almost double in size to some from 5 years ago(phantom) in which people were getting close to 2.5, I think some of the best flights are already in the 2.7-3.0 range. Size of the suit shouldn't affect it. Lift/drag ratio (which depends on design, and skill of the flyer) determines it. In practice, it does. Since that is contrary to the accepted laws of fluid dynamics, you need to provide some evidence in support. This is a fairly common observation in the real world. No manufacturer has succeeded in making a smaller wing suit in area outperform a bigger suit from their line up. AFIAK, as of today, every single WS pilot(who has figured out how to fly their suit) is able to get better performance out of the bigger suit in that manufacturer's line up. Until, there is evidence in the real world that is contrary to the 'bigger suit from same manufacturer gives better performance'. I am going to stick to that thumb rule. P.S: I am not in your class, I am not too concerned about what I have to write in the final exam so you give me a better grade .
  2. That is a 20 sec transient following an 8 sec dive. To put that in perspective, a 5'8" 200lb guy was getting 3:1 for ~35 secs after a dive(~10 secs) in a V1. 3:1 IMO is definitely possibly with today's suits without having to dive.
  3. Good choice! Whether you are buying or trying

  6. Nice use of the inlets as color accents :). K
  7. Nicely done! Nice clean looking suit. I thought there was some talk about not having seperate leg wing inlets during the prototype days but this one and the bird docs one look like seperate inlets on LW on the production V4s.
  8. Nice! That is like the most obvious thing to say, though . Get better glide in V3 than prodigy?Only meaningful numbers to compare are cruise glide or L/D.
  9. I guess you could say that about smellveggan. The trajectory taken for the flight has a major influence on the outcome(even when ridge lift is absent due to the following). I guess the water level in that stream is different year to year, in 2007 the closest landing point on the left bank was 1.6km from exit but the right bank was only 1.5km from exit. Yuri himself posted here his best L/Ds. Never a whole lot more than 2.7(in still wind). Anyway, I would put close to 3.0 for you in that Apache suit on short (1minute or so) BASE flights in normal conditions as no surprise. The 2.4 average on a 3minute 20 sec flight and a short base flight are very much apples and oranges
  10. What only 2.4? Jeb himself posted that Yuri was getting that in a classic and that too more than a decade ago. Fun aside, this is a good thing.
  11. Nice flight with good views.
  12. Love the thinking behind the stretchy sleeve, keeps the wing profile shape like the designer wants it to be and also allows quick riser grab functionality. What's the optional foam insert, Jarno?
  13. Congrats!! What was that expression that was used against people that were keen on GPS, Time measurements in the early days? I guess in a way everyone is a sucker for numbers .
  14. They don't do Shiney anymore. No more Aluminized silver and no transparent either...
  15. Awesome!! Enjoyed that immensely. How do you do it, Ed?
  16. Nice one Matt. Advertisers using wingsuits for whatever is O.k, IMO.
  17. i managed to get my protrack to think i popped at 11k with my tx intro I got confused because I thought I had set the Altitrack on SLO when I purchased it a couple of years ago. I don't 'pop' so that confused me even more. I just believed that L&B stuff works period. The device works, I fucked up .
  18. Thought Sugar Glider was made by the same lady(MariaVon?) just based on input by JB(the other one ).
  19. The Jii-wings designs had that(arm wings extending below the knee) before Tony even started making suits. What about the V1 style smooth leading edges on the -Bird suits? What aarthus said. The end result is we got better suits and more choice.
  20. Thanks, it was in mode 0. I was pretty sure I had it set to SLO when I brought it a couple of years ago. So, no wonder the device got fooled. The jumptrack page doesn't have it but the buy it page shows windows 7 x64. Just need to get the 64 bit version and I'll be set. Mine is the Red 32 bit one.
  21. I just tried to download the data to figure out what's happening because it is only recording 14 secs of freefall. Is there anyone that had this problem? L and B website say I need to get a 64 bit USB track interface device(this has to be shipped). The website only talks about XP and Vista. I am pretty sure L and B will sort me out. Just checking if anyone knows any workarounds? Or if this works on windows 7 with that USB device.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. The mount worked like a charm(without any tape). Got to do a couple of jumps on the V3. The dummy(me) messed up and the Camera was in triple shot photo mode so all I got was pics of me trying to start the video recording .
  23. Has anyone used just the adhesive mount to get forward facing video? I will add some Duck tape just for safety but wondering how the adhesive mount worked at WS speeds?
