  1. Hmm, at Skydive Dallas, which is a large DZ, everyone is more than friendly. Surprisingly so. From time to time the regulars are busy doing their own thing but I have had a dozen come up to me when I’m practicing door exits on the ground and offer tips or just introduce themselves. I’ve only got 12 jumps in but fell very welcome. I guess it just varies from DZ to DZ. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. 2. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that has this fear. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  3. At least with skydiving I know it’s a sure thing. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  4. Great shots of your graduation jump! I forwarded the link to some friends. I'm glad I am not the only one with some little "issues" on dives. You put it so eloquently. Congratulations!!! 5. Interesting question. I've only got 12 jumps but #12 was the first time I could breath normally (or close to it) in the plane. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  6. I am not a Dr. but having have spent a lot of hours talking to my father’s eye surgeon about lens replacement surgery and recovery. Based on my understanding of the procedure I don't understand your Dr's concern. I would seek out a second and third opinion. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. 7. It's strange how AFF differs from DZ to DZ. We never get pushed out of the plane. Front floats, back floats, diving exits, but no pushing. However, I worked on gaining stability from a totally unstable exit on my AFF 5 last week; the problem was that it wasn’t supposed to be an unstable exit. :) It was the first “cold” weather day (hey it gets cold even in Texas) and I was wearing gloves and thick sweats under my jump suit. The bulk got me distracted and I had a hard time getting properly positioned in the door. I had my feet too far in the door. When I stepped off into the relative wind my right foot dragged in the door and it caused me to bend forward slightly. Of course this caused me to summersault forward a few times. I arched and got out of it but I distinctly remember my instructor’s face on my second flip as it spun around….he was laughing at me. It was an ungraceful exit but it gave me a lot of self-confidence in terms of getting out of an unstable situation. It was also the most fun I’ve had skydiving so far! Congratulations on passing your 5! I hope I progress on mine this weekend. :) "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." 8. I understand your frustration. It’s a little scary to have someone touching your equipment if you have not asked, particularly if you may not know and trust him or her. However, I have to ask what your feelings would be if he found a critical flaw? "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. 9. Thanks for the feedback. Of course I did a search before I posted the question. I came up with an unmanageable number of hits. 99.99% of them used the term in signatures, accident notices, etc. Not much help in understanding the meaning. I even tried a variety of search parameters and continued to get a untenable number of unrelated hits. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
  10. Being new to the sport I hear this a lot. I looked around on the net and found differing interpretations of this. I’ve heard everything from it’s a line from an old movie to it’s an old way of thinking that says that skilled skydivers won’t die to it’s a yin yang thing. What is the history and meaning of this phrase?
  11. Hey my friend. Sorry this happened. I saw you come back into the DZ. Best of luck with your wife next weekend and I'll see you in 2 weeks. "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things." CP
