    Pilots v. Jumpers

woah tonto i never meant this post in a derogatory way toward skydiving. i think skydivers are really brave. what i was trying to say was that skydivers have a "coolness" to them that pilots lack. sort of like snowboarders. please dont think i meant anything bad, i was just trying to start a conversation comparing pilots to skydivers and "bad and rad" was a poor choice of words. regarding problems from mommy, i dont live at home anymore but i keep my mother up to date, and she practically begged me to cancel

    Pilots v. Jumpers

Im a student pilot and soon to be jumper, and ive noticed a major difference between the 2 groups of people pilots are calm cool collected and generally very low key about their flying, where jumpers are loud , rad and bad. thats not to say jumpers are inferior--its just that pilots are like the skiiers while jumpers are like the snowboarders, if you catch my drift. compare the threads here to studentpilot.com and youll see what i mean
  5. thx alot guys. i am speaking with my mom and i may be able to convince her, its just taking time
  6. i know i probably shouldnt have said anything but i told my mother that im going skydiving next week and she forced me to cancel...anyone have a similar problem, and what can i do about it?
  7. thx douva im a bit crazy with these things. i fly planes and now im ready to jump out of them but ive got to be the most nervous guy out there--lol
  8. hey appreciate the advice tom youve been a real help-- i think i am definitely going for this next week--my FIRST tandem--i only wish theyd make chutes with 2 reserves
  9. Im headed to the video store, which one is more in tune with this community?
  10. wow fast replies guys. yea im definitely gonna do tandem the first time--oh and i forgot to mention im from long island ny--so my choices are either skydivelongisland.com OR Longislandskydiving--im not sure which one to go with yet. also does weather matter at all? i know that i cant fly VFR if there are too many clouds, and i dont just mean clouds i mean winter weather also, wont you freeze to death in the winter up there?
  11. OK heres the deal..im 21 and really REALLY want to get into skydiving. ive always thought skydiving is the absolute bravest and most outrageous thing anyone can ever expect to do in their lives, but im a bit scared. im taking flight lessons for a private pilot certificate and im ok with that, but skydiving frightens me in that there seems to be much more room for error. ive been vacillating for years now whether or not i should skydive, but i really need some encouragement and reassurance. oh by the way, does it help to go on roller coasters, because im terrified of them as well and have never been on one ....yet.....
