  1. Everyone, I'm sorry that I have not been able to respond until now. My computer has been down. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, love and concern. Mom is in a better place now, she no longer is in pain and will not ever know pain and suffering again. It's very hard to let go, but there comes a time when you have to. Dad and I are managing and we'll be okay. I'm going to get him out doing some things now. He's 91 years old...hmmmm, possibly a tandem jump is in order. I'll have to check with the doc and see what he says. Thank you again all, and a special thanks to RkyMtnHigh...Katee, you're the best! Thank you my friend.
  2. Okay, is anybody in on this? Here is a link to ASC's website forum (hope it works, go to ASC's webpage an dclick Forums if it doesn't wiork) Full details there. http://www.ascskydiving.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=85 Hope you all can come out. 3. Okay everybody, Sorry I've been out for awhile. The Birthday Celebration is definately on. We have shirts that are really sharp looking. Red, with gold Eagle Globe and Anchor on them, and in large black with gold trimmed letters, Ist Annual Marine Corps Birthday Boogie, ASC, 13-14 November 2004. We will meet at ASC and skydive all day. I'm going to try to get a local radio personality, Kim Peterson, who has done a tandem at ASC in the past to come out and maybe do another jump with us. He is a Vietnam era Marine. On Saturday evening, we are going to try to do the cake cutting ceromony. This will be for all Marines, and to show those who have not ever been Marines a little history and tradition of our Corps. We'll explain what we're doing during trhe cake cutting. I will wear my Blues, anybody else that can still get into them feel free to bring them and wear them. After the cake cutting, there will be plenty of beer to drink...gotta show the civilians how beer is really supposed to be drank! On both Saturday and Sunday, we are going to try to do an all Marine jump. Jim Ware, one of our Marines, who is on the staff at ASC, has suggested that we take along some cake on each jump (maybe a cupcake) and release them at a certain altitude. I'm going to see if Chutingstar (Mike to the G) or one of our other videographers will film the jump for us. Think I'll do the jump in utilities, anybody else bring em if ya got em. It should be a great weekend, and a prety unique way to celebrate the birthday of our Corps. Hope you'll all join us at ASC for the MC Birthday Celebration!
  4. Are that any members presently in the Marine Corps (either Active Duty or Reserves) or anyone that has ever served in the Marines. If, at anytime you have earned the title, United States Marine, this message is for you. Several of us, at our dropzone are trying to organize a Marine Corps Birthday Boogie. Any Marine who has ever made a jump, be it a military jump or a jump at a dropzone (you must be jump qulaified) is invited to attend, we are going to try to have at least one All-Marine jump each day of the Boogie, to honor our Beloved Corps, and we will try to do a cake cutting ceremony as well. The jump will be open to members of any other branch of service as well, if you are jump qualified, and have served with the Marines in the past, example, Navy Hospital Corpsmen, Officer or Enlisted personel attached to a Marine unit, exchange program, liaison officer etc. All Marines, jump qualified or not are of course welcome to attend, as well as members of the other services too, but all that hope to jump must be jump qualified, and to jump on the All-Marine jump, must either be a Marine, or a member of another branch of the service that has been attached to/served with the Marines. We are trying to gauge how much interest that is for an event like this, our DZO said it will be fine with him, if we can get enough interested to attend. If you are interested, please send me a Private Message stating your interest to attend. I havew also posted this message in the Events/places to jump forum. Thanks. Semper Fi, Richard L. 6. Thank you all so very much. This was totally unexpected.
  7. "First off, if people skydive they can afford to pay $20.00 a year. If you cant afford $20.00 a year people are full of shit...My opinion." ------------------------------------------------------------ Full of shit? Fine, then I will gladly swap places with you and let you see how full of shit I am. Try doing anything without having a job/income! I have jumped a total of 1, uno, one, singular, as in one single time since January, and that was ONLY because someone felt sorry for me, and bought me jump ticket , and someone else hooked me up with a rig! Full of shit? Why the FUCK do you think that just might be? It must be nice to have a job, and income so you can look down and tell everybody that cannot afford something how full of shit they are! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  8. "$20 is only small to someone who has income. Without a true income, $20 can mean gas or food or a jump to stay current or almost 1/3rd of the USPA membership or the only way to keep the lights from being turned off." ------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you Dagny. That sums it up right there....$20 is only a small amount to someone who has income! Seems people that have jobs, and income can afford to pay for things forget that there are people that don't and can't. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  9. Well, it was this one. But now, since Talk Back has been closed, I find it less entertaining and haven't been here near as much and eventually, I'll probably just slowly drift away from here unless it re-opens -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  10. If I were qualified, i would do any of it. After all, it would mean that many more jumps. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  11. No, I cannot afford it Of course, I guess some here would like for me to be gone, so if this becomes the rule, pay to post, I guess they will be happy, because i will be gone. It really SUX to be so broke you can barely afford to live! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  12. If there is a fee to use "Talk Back" I guess I will have to leave the forum. I cannot afford to pay anything. Of course, I guess there maybe could be those here that would like to see me gone and not ever return. The problem seems fairly simple to me. Two topics, politics and religion, seem to be what has caused all the problem. My suggestion would be to have a seperate forum for politics and religion. This way, those that wish to discuss these two explosive, and potentionally disruptive topics, could have a forum to post on, and the majority, that don't want to be bothered with the topics would have "Talk Back" to carry on as they always have. I was a mod on a forum that had this same problem several years ago. That is what they did, created a seperate forum for thiose two topics. It worked out great. No political or religious discussions or fights anywhere except for inside that forum. All other forums carried on as normal without the problem. I think it would work here, and hope it will be considered. I would like to see "Talk Back' re-opened. It was the best forum here, I miss it greatly -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  13. I couldn't agree more. That is what I love about my DZ. You walk in the door, whether you are a jumper of someone that is there to do a tandem, AFF, or just checking it out from curiosity, you do not hardly get into the door before someone speaks to you, says "Glad to have you", etc etc. Nothing leaves a good and lasting impression on someone more than making them feel welcomed right from the start. I've seen it happen the other way around at other places. Stood/sat around and unless I spoke to someone, no one would have spoke to me, or even noticed that I was there. Even, then, it seemed that they had their own little click, and didn't want to talk to you, either too wrapped up with themselves and what they are doing, or like "your not one of us, so we could care less if you're here or not." Places like that turn me off, and I won't be back to jump at them! -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
  14. I'd say that he could easily handle AFF. He has already jumped out of planes, wouldn't have a fear of the door, He could handle it. -------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
