  1. They would get them the same way we get them. By creating them there selves. Or if your clever, you can build that stuff without patterns. And I would be one of them you speak of. Through the late 70’s early 80’s. Jeff
  2. Being a skydiver often makes one feel like you’re on top of the world. With that advantage, you just landed on the moon and probably won’t be back down for some time. Congratulations Jeff
  3. Doe too many of the comments I have been hearing here for some time, I thought it would be good to have a poll. I wanted to do this some time ago but just haven’t had the time. Now after returning from the 2007 PIA meetings in Nashville, I’m a bit more compelled to do so. The bottom half of this Poll applies to rigs with AAD’s only and is for Riggers only. Thanks for your honest participation. Jeff
  4. Quote I like the hot glue gun idea best. And since I've also had problems with the fibers fraying from the cut edge, that hot glue might also help solve that problem too. I'm going to give that a try. >>>>>>>>>> John, It will also definitely help bond and hold the fibers. Just so it doesn’t have and adverse effect on the resin you use. I would make a test piece first. We only glue one side, but you may also try applying it to both sides with that thicker Kevlar. Then scrape off the excess glue on the back side with a sharp tool prior to assembly for your application. I have enclosed photos of one of the types of Kevlar we cut often using this technique. I was one very popular guy with the parts department when I discovered this trick many years ago, that’s for sure. Hope it works for you. Jeff
  5. John, Kevlar is easy to cut with most any sharp scissors if you get a hot glue gun and run a thin 1/4" bead of hot glue over the area you need to cut. We have been doing it that way since I come up with it. I love the look on Riggers faces when they first try it. rushmc, A hot knife will not cut it, Kevlar will not burn. Jeff
  6. I'm ALL ears! For one, they don’t appear to be reinforced; the locking loops are way to short, and the bar tacks that holds the small ring down is to close to the small ring. Jeff
  7. Anyone notice how out of spec those risers are. I see 3 things alone. Good thing it did brake or you would have been hurting just that much more. Jeff
  8. QuoteSome seal dyes are stamped too wide for the seal like mine is OJC, _________________________ Same here, mine is OTC. Jeff
  9. The same will work with a standard Cypres pull-up cord and helps a lot. Jeff
  10. Stratostar, I hope your using the special applicator for that. Jeff
  11. Have you tried this? Jeff
  12. Eric Fradet patented a system for Main Assisted Reserve Deployments (MARD) sometime between1993 and 02. In 1998, the French company producing and selling the ADVANCE harness/container with Eric’s MARD system was Parafun. But that company is now under new ownership and is called Basik Air Concept. Patrick Deayardon had a prototype of the early Eric Fradet MARD system and I adapted one to his Vector 3 prototype back in 94 or 95. I’m not sure if he ever used it. This French Parafun system was shown to the U.S. public during the 1999 San Diego PIA Symposium. I believe Mike Truffer wrote an article in skydiving about it. And by the way, the SkyHook is only one of many ways to cleanly accomplish a Main Assisted Reserve Deployment. Jeff
  13. D, I believe his name is Dallas Whitenfield (not sure of the spelling). I think he was from around the Decatur Ind. area in the 70’s. Apart from just doing demos back then, he occasionally came out and jumped with us at Para Sport, just south of Ft. Wayne at the Lazy K Airport. Jeff
  14. Anyone interested in these slip on leg pad covers for an existing rig should first make sure you can unthread your leg straps. Some rigs with the DJSSA stainless leg adjusters won’t allow the dead-end to pass without removing the harness stitching. Some 2 or 3 years ago I redesigned the Mirage dead ends to pass through the DJSSA hardware for this very purpose. This works well on most Mirage harness types but not all. It would really suck to order some, then find out you can’t put them on after you get them. Jeff
  15. The swoop armor option is a 1680 denier ballistic cloth sleeve with spacer foam to the inside that slides over your leg pads to protect them. We did it for some people here some 2 or 3 years ago and are now offering it again. Jeff
  16. Let’s not forget that landing a canopy with both control attached by the rear risers is not the same as doing it with one missing. If one control line is gone, the only stopping power you will get from that side is from the C & D’s only. The most critical stopping surface area (D’s to tail) from that side will be gone. Jeff
  17. Terry, That was absolutely brilliant. Jeff
  18. I know of a rig that also uses DJ-SSA, and you can unthread them. Jeff You better watch out... I'll spin that as an Infinity Safety feature Tony, That would be like saying all the Infinity’s without DJ-SSA’s would be considered less safe? Considering you do offer all of the industry standard leg adapters. Are you sure you want to go there? Jeff
  19. I know of a rig that also uses DJ-SSA, and you can unthread them. Jeff
  20. You certainly couldn’t have chosen a better group to help with a class for advanced rigging. Jeff

    Baby Bunnies

No, the loin sections should always be separated for grilling or frying. The rest is best for stewing. Jeff
  22. Clownburner I should have also mentioned that the only hardware used for that application that will not allow the dbl. type 8 dead ends to pass is the DJ-SSA. Unless you design it to do so. Jeff
  23. You can thread new elastic keepers on without having to unthread the adapters. Just thread the new ones on over the dead end, slide up to the adapter, push between the slide and main body of the adapter twice and you have it. I can do it with my eyes closed. To remove the old one, I use one of my favorite blades, or scissors. Jeff
  24. Probably one of the best hot tips there is. After absorbing the tremendous wealth of information from your instructors and the posters here on dropzone.com; and just before making that purchase, don’t forget to contact the manufacturer as well. Just tell us what you’re planning to do. You may be surprised by what you may learn. That’s where most of your instructors and the posters here on dropzone.com get their information from. Jeff
