Canada has never started a war with anyone. Where's our prize?

Stagflation ended when the FED stopped printing so much money. This led directly to the '81 recession.

We are not in a stagflation period because there is very little inflation. Stagflation occured because policymakers looked at the Phillips curve (positive correlation between inflation and employment) and mixed up the causality. While the standard Keynsian Aggregate Supply/Aggregate Demand map shows increased demand causes prices to rise, policy makers decided to pump up the money supply to make prices rise in order to increase demand. The Nobel winning work by Milton Freidman showed that unexpected inflation caused an increase in aggregate demand. In subsequent periods, once the inflation expectations have been integrated into the economy, the effect is lost. In fact there is a backlash as workers attempt to recoup purchasing power. Now you have the stagnation of the economy you started with but at a higher sustained level of inflation. The only way to keep the increased AD in subsequent periods is to accelerate the increase in inflation to an even higher level. This period is currently known as QE3. In 1980 The union I was working for was offered a three year contract with 10%, 11% and 12% increases. We were outraged as that would only keep up with expected inflation and do nothing to alleviate the loss of purchasing power we had lost from the unanticipated inflation from previous years. Clearly we are nowhere near expected inflation of 10% or more per year. Stagflation is coming but not yet.

Does your DZ try to guilt you if you have a cutaway?

According to his profile he has an A. Nope! If you rented the main you need to return the main. Your responsibility. -
You mean it wasn't Elvis and The Rolling Stones? Clearly Elvis and The Rolling Stones were the result and not the cause of a depraved society.

Only a couple more degrees and we will be able to export tar sands bitumen via the arctic. When the permafrost melts we are going to grow rice and feed the world.

In a Presidential election, do you believe...

Show up, sign the necessary form, and refuse to enter the booth. This should force the official to record the event, in order to rectify the total voters vs votes. -
Libya did no such thing. Al Qaeda did so. I think it stretches credibility to even suggest that the Libyan government (such as exists) stood by in complacency.

You never jumped a tandem as a student, will you do it for free now?
Andrewwhyte replied to Maksimsf's topic in The Bonfire
I did my first tandem when I had 1500 jumps; scared shitless. It was his first tandem too. Then we switched places and did it again. -
Actually: news.yahoo.com/photos/libyans-denounce-benghazi-attack-slideshow/demonstrator-holds-message-during-rally-condemn-killers-u-photo-225806960.html Rounding up a bunch of crazies isn't that hard in most countries. That doesn't mean most people think that way.

Does the US constitution mean anything at all to these people? http://deadspin.com/5941348/they-wont-magically-turn-you-into-a-lustful-cockmonster-chris-kluwe-explains-gay-marriage-to-the-politician-who-is-offended-by-an-nfl-player-supporting-it Great response from Kluwe. -
At your experience level I would not consider this to be a huge leap. The Pulse is a very docile canopy, more so than a Solo. If it fits a bit loose you can get your rigger to add a bit of fill to the back-tray of your main container for cheap.

Oh Christ are you SERIOUS! He's Israeli Jew

You are mistaken. there are many duel citizen Americans. I was under the impression that that included all Jews. I could be wrong. -
Obama condemns killing of U.S. ambassador to Libya
Andrewwhyte replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I completely agree that the government (as well as previous ones) "deplores any international effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others." Stating that you deplore something does not however, constitute repression; it is not an attack on free speech any more than saying you deplore racism. -
Government ordered drug testing in New Zealand
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Instructors
I just wonder if the government involvement will lead to more stringent responses to trace positives. I work in the oil patch where trace positives are automatic dismissal. -

For TI's - When a tandem student wont jump.....
Andrewwhyte replied to shorehambeach's topic in Tandem Skydiving
I am with EFS. If the student puts their feet out, they are going. In a larger plane if they approach the door, they are going. I have had one student out of 3000 refuse. He was balking while we were moving down the bench; no problem, we landed in the plane. I don't know too many cameraflyers who would land with the plane unless the dropzone had some rule about paying for the jump if they get out. -
As Skydecker said, UK law mandates that the government abide by treaties they are signatories to. If they did storm the embassy, there could be an argument that the the Equadorians would be within their treaty rights to arrest the British ambassador. This is the road to war.

Funny. I often think I am 18 but I am really 50.

Let us be clear about one thing. If that raid had been botched the President, and the President alone would have worn it. Those of us old enough to remember the rescue attempt in Iran in 1980 are certain of that.
