Traeger. We have two. One here at work that our Realtor gave us as a house warming gift that is the smaller one. Then we bought the bigger one for home and brought the small one to work. The naysayers most likely have never used one. When we bought our house we had bought a new Weber grill for the patio. We have yet to even use it because the Traeger smokes (pun intended) grilling. When we hold training classes that are on the smaller side My wife will smoke tri-tip here at work for lunch. We also smoke steaks and salmon here at work pretty regularly for our employees too. Said I wasn't going to post again so I am not going to rehash anything I said but I would like to ask the OP (again) how many TI's have lost their medical due to DUI's? Is this such a rampant problem resulting in a shortage of qualified TI's that there needs to be this Amendment? Are there 1 or 1000 TI's that are out of a job because they failed their medical? And my last clarification - You should be asking that the class 3 medical change to eliminate the DUI standard as the USPA has nothing to do with the medical except stating you must have one correct? So this has nothing to do with DUI's other then the government has included them in the medical correct? I am really going to try and "listen" to your response on how the world will be safer for everyone especially tandem students by eliminating the class 3 medical. Please try to explain how that will happen and not that your trying to get your buddy his job back. You do see the fallacy in that statement right? Might as well smoke cocaine if you smoke cigarettes makes about as much sense as what you just said. And my poor decision making in my 20's and 30's where a small part of my decision not seek out my TI cert. More so because of the damage I have done to my body and not being physically the best person to save my son or daughter if the shit hit the fan. As for one DUI ending someone's career if your career stated that up front and you knew it then yes. That's 100% that persons fault and no one else's. Actions have consequences. I didn't make the decision the FAA didn't make the decision and the unsuspecting tandem student didn't make the decision the TI choose to loose his job all on his own. It was a conscience decision. I feel bad that he has a problem and hope he has gotten help and one day can earn it back. I believe in redemption and forgiveness. It shouldn't be a death sentence the first time, but I sincerely believe a TI or pilot shouldn't get a second chance if they do it again. If I sound like a broken record GOOD! Alcoholism and addiction are serious diseases and I hope he gets help but making excuses for him and others like them only puts them and others at risk. I know I have that flaw I was just never caught. I am just amazed how you guys can justify DUI's as no big deal. Hell everyone should have one or maybe two.. TI's are responsible for the lives of their passengers. If they have no concern for their lives or the other people on the road then why would anyone believe they have concern and can make responsible decisions in the air? These are legitimate questions and if they can prove they have learned and the FAA gives them their ticket back great if not then THEY CHOSE to lose their right to take PAYING passengers. And here you are absolutely wrong. 1 DUI is not a death sentence. As Mr. Mullins pointed out there is a road to redemption. And as far as anyone could make that mistake you are absolutely WRONG. It is a conscience decision to drive drunk. We are all grown ups we know the ramifications of driving drunk. A TI or a Pilot KNOW they will those their ticket if they take that chance which shows POOR decision making skills. And that is why it is part of the medical. And yes I am for a 90 day jail term for the first offense. I do not know the recidivism rate for drunks so I wont make up numbers but use my own circle as reference. My brother is one of those and when his friends called me on the second one to see if I wanted to bail him out I said thanks for calling but I'm going back to bed. A single DUI costs a pilot his ticket too. These rules are not a surprise the TI knew them and choose to take that risk. There is only one person responsible for losing his job and that is HIM A single DUI should have much harsher punishment then what is currently being applied. DUI's KILL PEOPLE. Because this person failed the medical this other person wants to do away with the medical which will make everyone safer if TI's do not have to get medicals. What is keeping TI's from obtaining the medical? How is not being able to pass the medical making TI passengers safer? Is this a major problem in the industry? I read most of that and here is what I "read" Someone got their medical pulled because of DUI's and now cant work as a TI and has no other skills so you want to change the BSR's to allow him to continue to work even though he knew drinking and driving can not only kill people but cause him to lose his employment.
