Ive never had anything but exceptional service with paypal even when we got our account locked because a douche reported me for taking "donations" four our annual Leukemia and Lymphoma raffle. I didn't think anything about people buying raffle tickets but they have a rule you must be registered for charitable donations and I get why after they explained it. As for the OP paypal is absolutely worried your the scammer and for damn good reason. So many people have been scammed the exact way your trying to do this. Take the money out of paypal before shipping. Once you have the money and take it out of the bank you can close all the accounts and everyone is screwed but you. Skydive Arizona. You can stay in the bunkhouse CHEAP or even set up a tent or if your old like me then the hotel is decent and fairly price or just rent the team room if you want privacy. Perris a great place to jump just not as "cheap" to spend a week and jump your ass off as staying at Skydive AZ. They have a shuttle that runs to the airport so you don't even have to rent a car. If you need groceries there is always someone that will run you into town or just eat at the bent prop but that can get costly if your staying for an extended time on a budget. Showers are clean and the people friendly and the tunnel is on site :) Sounds like I work for them doesn't it? LOL I have 200+ of my 1000 skydives there so I really do like the place. I will be making a journey for at least a couple days before I hang up jumping but I will also be back to Perris and will make sure I get my jump in at Elsinore since the only time I went was after getting slammed so hard at Perris I thought I broke my back. Oh and last but not least is Lodi. Lodi is the cheapest place to jump and you can camp but commodities are not as easy to come by nor is travel to and from. Lots here have issue with Bill and I cant say they aren't justified.My first visit he said grab a rig your on the next load without even checking to see that I knew what the fuck I was doing. I had 57 jumps and he didn't know a thing. I asked if he wanted to see my license he said hell no we don't care about those we skydive here LOL He noticed the blank look on my face and asked ok where do you jump I said Skydive Ogden and he said oh great Brian's place. Short answer. Yes it can be done. Long answer is way more complicated. You are creating an entity that will be very complicated and will require full time work and lots of volunteer hours if you are planning on disbursing most of the proceeds. You will also have to develop a LEGAL means test on who the money will be disbursed to and how. Will you be giving grants? Or paying bills? Giving cash disbursements is way more complicated then covering partial or whole medical bills. Others have stated about board meetings and minutes and accounting but before you even get to that you will have to have the other ducks I mentioned in a row and those are just ones you will need to even think about getting started there is way way more. Now if your ready to make this your life's work, and it will be your life's work, then I for one would not only applaud you but would gladly donate not only money but what little precious time I have left after my other charitable endeavors (we are dedicated members of Team in Training, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) Life is precious and we don't always realize it until we get involved In doing something that's outside of ourselves. Hmmm without a ground check of the gear it's hard to be sure what happened but I can share what happened to me. I had tuck tabs added to my really old Javelin and when I had packed my rig(yes I actually used to pack way way way back when) I had tucked them in a way they did not come untucked on opening and the rig pinned my head to my chest. I went through all kinds of scenarios in my head and ended up deciding on landing using my rears because I couldn't reach my toggles either but since I had no idea what was happening but I knew I was flying stable I didn't want to take a bad situation and make it worse. It was immediately apparent what happened but I had considerably more jumps then one and it was my own gear so I knew to check it when I landed to see what happened and to make sure it didn't happen again. Good Job not dying/getting hurt but I am more considered that your AFFI didn't catch it if it was a harness issue. Now if it was a ragged out harness and it "slipped" after being properly adjusted by your AFFI(its their job on level 1 to make sure) then the DZ needs to have that rig removed from service until it has been checked and repaired so that it doesn't "slip" as the gear is designed not to do that. Again no way to know for sure about anything from an internet post but it isn't air gremlins that got you something serious was missed and there is no excuse for it on a Level 1 jump.
