  1. It's been a long time since I have logged in, I haven't made a jump in 5-6 years (a long time) do to health issues. I might actually be done now. '21 started off with back issues,. Then a tore 3 rotator cuff tendons THEN Covid tried to kill me last year spent 12 weeks(from sept to dec)in the RICU. PE, Pseudomonas infection on the same lung with the PE, Bacterial and Viral pneumonia, lifeflight and a temp of 106.5 for 8 days.only 1 antibiotic work on the pseudomonas. The told me wife to start preparing for my funeral as they gave me a 3% chance of survival.

Then 2 weeks after I get out of the RICU, I have  a complete lung collapse in December. My whole reason for living was my daughters wedding on December 18th. I promised id be there and after 11 days in the hospital for lung surgery I got out on the 11th and was at her wedding in Idaho the following Saturday. She is my guardian angel.

Started 22 off with major back surgery on march 15. So while I have held out hope that id be able to jump (my neck surgeries kept me from jumping the last 6 years)n I may have to face the reality that I am done and that sucks! I am hoping and praying that I can at least make 2 more jumps with my 2 kids when my son turns 18.

Anyway that's my short sob story. I miss all you folks, its just hard to hang out here and not be jumping. it really really sucks. I am glad this place is still up and running..Blueskies.....go fast take chances

  2. Hey everyone. Long time since I logged in. I have a Tongan friend who wants to skydive. Needless to say he is a BIG MAN. know there used to be a couple of DZ's that would take the big guys up. Would appreciate some names of some DZ's. Thanks!

  3. I would suspect any DZO with any sense would restrict its use on the DZ. the pilot walking by and getting a snoot full of a weed cloud and a surprise piss test and they get their ticket pulled. Not worth the risk to the DZ and pilots and TI.

  4. It’s always been and will always be about the people. There are still some good people here and some a-holes with giant egos and insane political ideologies that creep into their use of the hammers and authority given to them which is the biggest issue as for me coming reguallr6 and reading the same post by the same people . The good ones have died or moved on leaving the ones that like to hear themselves type. And for the record I fall into that category (arrogant a-hole) quite often so I’m not just pointing at Billy Boy ;)what I am getting at is the place needs characters, we need people like Tonto, girlfalldown.shrek etc...RIP... then the ones that stopped coming like Rosa, chilli, winging and mouth to name a few. Anyone can step up and breathe life and excitement back into dizzy.. but as with this whole generation it has to happen in 6 seconds or the milleniual brain looses interest...is Dizzy done? Nope...but it could use a shot of adrenaline or at least a couple monsters

  5. You don’t understand opening at 3 grand because you don’t understand a lot with your b license..I don’t know you or what your real stats are but I probably have more exist at or below 3 grand them you do openings above 3 grand. And I don’t even have a ton of jumps. I’ll just give you one example and move on. Every single large formation jump I’ve would have kicked my ass off the loads if I was even thinking about opening at 3 grand let opening that high. Being in the base we didn’t even turn and burn until 3 and dumped at the legal altitude 2200, yeah, yeah that’s the ticket, we dumped at 2200 yeah... now should you with a B license being down in the basement? Nope there isn’t anything down there for you, YET... but don’t be scared. 3000 isn’t low nor is 2500... 900? Yeah that’s low but you might end up the centerfold of Parachutist:) you should spend some time in the formation skydiving room. Then go talk to your instructor and for DZO or the old guys dancing with each other before you cling on and move to the back of the “bus”

Let me elaborate on "it found me"...
Sorry, I should have left that out of the post.
The Katana 107 was the only wing in my range at the dropzone when I was downsizing from the Crossfire 119. I flew it 5 times, I liked it, then I bought it.
Thanks for your concerns with MY safety.
The purpose of this post, however, is that I want to know why people think Katana's are unsafe.

Don’t give two shits about anything said except “MY safety” everything you say is now suspect. I’d have serious question about you being a TI or any type of instructor if you meant and truly believed it’s only about “YOUR” safety. Unless you jump on your own property out of your own plane with no one to ever watch or give two shits about your life or hell even picking up your bags of bones afterwards then no,mits not about “YOUR” safety. I get why you said it and I hope you didn’t mean it. This sport is not singular and deaths an serious injury are never just “my injury or death” everyone suffers and he an forbid you take someone else with you. Again I hope you, especially as a TI, know that an it was just a fuck off line to the poster speaking down to you, and I hope you get that I am speaking to you not down or up just to you.

  8. Yeah 6 rear ends 3 T bones 2 roll overs 1 that cant be discussed and lots of random shit that minor property damage occurred. Only 1 was ever my fault and that's the one that cant be discussed. Not sure why I was a car magnet up until I was 35. only 2 of those ended up seeing a chiropractor. Didn't stick around after the roll overs. Don't take offers for a ride from drunks, your skateboard is way safer, and as it turned out I got home faster too :)

  9. Ok fair enough. Wrong choice of words. We were talking about being under canopy not in freefall. I suppose a catastrophic failure at 1000' would have been better? :)

  10. Ok correct me I am flying straight ahead and a giant hole opens up in my canopy. I am going forward and now down(faster), I am cutting away and pulling my reserve but my skyhook will have beat me. What is completely wrong with what I said? Its still my "plan" tell me how I am wrong i'll listen

  11. Yep Titanium. They charged me 12 grand for the hardware. I have the plate they had to take out from the first surgery because it had pulled loose and was causing breathing issues when I would have any strenuous exercise. I should have brought it in and told them to reuse it

  12. Hows retirement John? And the only thing that ever really scared me (besides the airplane) was a two out. I liked to hum them low so if I had a two-out my fat ass would be deep in the no no zone LOL. On our pops record attempt in Nevada I got to watch a two-out happen 50' below me :o I had my hand on my cutaway as my main was opening as I was watching his reserve come out and looking over my shoulder expecting my to come out too. Still either amazing or very worrisome all of us didn't have two outs since all of us where within +/- 50' of each other when we dumped, no time to track when your beeper is flatlining in your ear. Made the centerfold of parachutist though ;) The person with the two out landed nice and soft didn't mess with it but then we only had about 15-second
    canopy rides

  13. Lots of good stuff but it really comes down to making a decision BEFORE your in the shit, because making a plan while in the shit usually turns you into a pile of shit.

The post was about a total on your main at 1000' correct? Then it became a canopy collision. Different scenarios and different minds sets. You have a total at a grand you should be ready and make a decision in a split second, chop and my skyhook has me open as I have forward and downward speed. a canopy collision at a grand is going to throw you in gods knows what direction, your brain is going to be going what the fuck was that when it figures out what happened your now below 700' or more. go silver and pray..

  14. +/- 900' have to add i'm a big fat belly flyer so I have always been by the door or on the floor since I was most of the time outside. much below 900 your best bet is to stay in the plane unless it's on fire and you can get out. I'd rather bounce then burn..The truth is if you're a free flyer or a tandem or camera you aren't getting out of a plane going down at those altitudes. you pray..

  15. At least you have a cool story to go with yours B| me just hard living and bad genetics, the 27 plus car accidents (lots of slams and bumps only a couple that were totals) didn't help and I am pretty sure the insta canopy I had in Perris that gave me momentary paralyzation didnt help much either. But none of that was on video so it never really happened :D Glad you didn't die;)

  17. Had surgery 5 weeks ago. I changed surgeons this time and wow! Major difference. I’ve been off opioids for 2.5 weeks already and I had been on them for 5 years. Luckily I had a great pain management dr and she worked with me to keep it as low as we could for as long as we could but grateful to be off them all the way now. Still hurt but I hurt about what I hurt taking that shit so I am golden! I’d call it a miracle but I’ll wait another 10 months before calling it that. In the meantime, I’m dreaming of maybe being able to jump again one day but the wife isn’t so sure she is ok with that.

  18. Rosa stays active on Facebook but not jumping I think she stays off here I'll tell her she is missed.

I miss Lisa (Mouth) I lost her number years ago on a phone change and she hasn't logged in her in years.

Lots of folks that made the place jump have "grown up" and moved on. Hell, I just sold my first new rig to a young Marine because my jumping is more than likely done, but I kept my custom work rig just in case.. I am not a quitter LOL

It's good to see lots of others aren't quitters either LOL

I will always log in and scan the forums, I keeps me close to the sport even if I am grounded..

  19. Because he has MILLIONS with a Capital M followers that LOVE him. My son who is almost 12 thinks he is hilarious, and his apology and videos on suicide are sincere and very welcomed by those that have been touched by suicide. I know this personally October seems like yesterday. So just because you don't like the kid for one dumbass ignorant mistake doesn't mean he doesn't have value as a human being. Besides that, he has MILLIONS of followers. A DZ would do well to sell him his AFF for $1 a jump because they are going to be swamped as if point break came out today

If you really need to, going to the Carbonezone for deployment should be in ones tool box, because very few others will be that low, provided your canopy don’t 1500 feet to open, or you’ll have two out from an AAD fire, or maybe dead.

Thats always worked for me ;)Of course being a big fat ass almost always in the base if my cypresss wasnt scared then neither was I ;)

  21. I don't think without a medical miracle that I will ever make more then a couple of jumps a year if that ever again. I am selling my first brand new rig to a kid that watched me jump into my customer appreciation days and said one day I am going to do that and went and did it. He is now a Marine and I couldn't be prouder of any kid (young man) especially one that isn't mine. I made him a heeluva deal since the Pilot 188 only has maybe 50 jumps on it but I couldn't think of a more fitting person to keep it aired out.

I am keeping my rig with my company logo'd rig and parachute for the occasional ride up with a tandem and hope that I am capable of not killing myself until my boy is able to make his first jump in 6.5 years but I think that is wishful thinking.

Its been a helluva ride. I have 2 state records, 1057 skydives a jet jump and a Rodriguez brother :) Thanks Chilli. I never got my 100 way but I have multiple 2 and 3 point way big ways and the only thing I have left to hope for us to be on the jump when my daughter and my son make their first. I hope my daughter makes hers this summer.

I was debating even posting this as I've pulled away from the site as many others have mainly because I wasn't feeling like a skydiver the last 4 years, then I read the post are you still a skydiver if you quit... Well I jumped from a fucking JET so yeah, I'm a skydiver always LOL...

    Getting old sucks balls......
