  1. I was actually helping the tandem catchers and had a guy say "Man! that was a blast!! I think I shit myself!!" we laughed and said yeah yeah.. it's fun. He responded with "no really. I think I shitmyself, where's the bathroom." -- Rob
  2. twice. once a liter of Absolut once a fifth of scotch regretted the scotch more than the vodka. -- Rob
  3. student in question should have gotten his ass up and walked out if he had to take the call. -- Rob
  4. rtfa you have kids going to starbucks and getting double espresso's now. there is no illegal drug in the drink. and until cocaine is legalized, there won't be any in any drink released legally in the US. and anyway, espresso doesn't cut it for me anymore. I might have to try this stuff. -- Rob
  5. we HAD rats in our grage, but I started leaving the door open about a foot. kept seeing the local cats leaving when I got home. now we don't have rats anymore. Imagine that. -- Rob
  6. my last naked jump was on a Lingere jump a bunch of girls on the DZ decided to do. I volunteered to go with them and wear lingere but one of them said "Oh no... you have to be naked if you want to jump with us". The rest is history. I guess they didn't realize I'm not shy. -- Rob
  7. ok, here's stupid. Demo planned for evening into a golf course. Overcast at 3K when we take off. no big deal. the demo was planned to be a hop-n-pop anyway. find the golf course, clouds are at 2200. no biggie, we have all done 2K hop-pop's before... when exit time comes, it's actually at about 1800'. everyone landed fine. but while we all had remembered to set our cypres's for the altitude difference (landing area was +120' from takeoff) we all forgot to adjust our altimiters. actual exit altitude recorded electronicly was about 1700' Now that's stupid. Oh yeah, there was one spun up main that was chopped and lost. But he wasn't pissed about it. Just kept muttering "guess I shouldn't have gotten out". -- Rob

  9. length of driving racord will vary state to state. in TX it's 3 years. (5 on record I think, but 3 is all the insurance folks care about). I've been driving for 21 years and I don't know how many I've gotten 15+ easy though. -- Rob
  10. I took a long break from skydiving because of monetary reasons. I found rockclimbing filled the void rather well. Obviously this wouldn't be good for you late in your pregnancy (at least not doign toprobe climbs wearing a harness). I found that climbers are very similar in attitude and personality (in general) to jumpers. check out rockclimbing.com for issues while climbing pregnant. -- Rob
  11. It's long been my opinion that the reason skydivers are reckless or careless is that they haven't seen enough shit happen to their friends yet. how's it go? There are old skydivers and there are bold skydivers, but there are no old bold skydivers. -- Rob
  12. make up with them, live in your room, and ask that they respect your space and stay out of your room. take a month to move your stuff slowly into storage/your car/your moms and then near the end of the month that they already have your money for, wait for them both to be out of the house, and vanish with all your shit. If they ask, just let them know that they'll need an extra $350/month each (note that you're giving them about the same notice you had to come up with 700/month) and you're out. Fuck 'em. -- Rob
  13. depends on what this person is giving advice about. there is something to be said for time in sport too. if this theoretical 400 jump wonder has been jumping for a year, I'm going to hazzard a guess that they've seen a couple of turned ankles, maybe a broken bone. If they're giving advice to a 50-jump wonder about what kind of canopy they should buy, I believe the 50 jump wonder might be better served by someone who's been around long enogh to understand the flinch reaction that your body has when someone cuts you off on final, and how a high end elliptical responds to that flinch as opposed to how a non-elliptical responnds to that flinch. They might also be netter served by taking advice from someone who has seen first hand how stupid people under hankerchiefs can kill themselves during a "hey y'all, watch this" moment. If this 400 jump wonder is giving advice about relative work (the type they've been coached on) they are probably highly qualified to be giving that advice. so my answer is a definitive "It depends" -- Rob
  14. eh... you probably drink shiner bock light! what the hell were they thinking making a light beer? Shiner is Shiner. it's not light beer! -- Rob
