  1. Yes, I will let you jump. I have no choice. It's either let you jump or risk upsetting my delicate balance of 50% stomach and 50% ulcer as I listen to whatever horse shit story you planned to tell and don't realize I've heard a thousand times. Yes, I am saying right wing things. In truth, I'm a pretty shitty liberal. In this case, however, I depart when it comes to imposing unnecessary and intentional limits on certain communities.
  2. I'm not opposed to needing an ID for voting, either. With mail in voting the voter has bags of time to get properly registered and identified. It's when voting is only between a few hours and, after standing in line for hours, you find you left it at home so are unable to vote that is an offense against democracy. Give everyone lot's of time and a system that isn't designed to exclude certain folks and no one should have a bitch. Well, except our right wing friends, as ever.
  3. I can tell you I'm not opposed. Who cares? They already know our locations, can read our encrypted communications, and know what we're buying and when.
  4. I guess my point is that I can see no path to your solution in the USA. We can't even get consensus on basic science issues much less a National ID card. You can talk all day about enforcement of this or that but until you say we'll round them up, hand cuff them and very roughly toss them over the border into another country or jail you're not explaining how the enforcement will go. Until you say we'll toss any employers who don't go along with your honor system in the calaboose, too, and fine them huge money it's just fiction.
  5. Phil, If you want to understand Brent you need to understand his technique.
  6. Is that good on planet Brent? Why stop at Dems and why stop at America. If there really is any logic in your logic or consistency in your philosophy shouldn't we want all 7.7 Billion people on Earth to have an AR-15 and a thousand rounds?
  7. He's used to not being wrong. He's used to controlling his environment. Happy Valley was probably just that for Brent. One thing about DZ's is that the cast of characters who are a daily part of the show are self vetted. People who think I'm an irredeemable asshole go somewhere else. Those who like my kind of asshole stay. So it is a self validating thing that can give you a very wrong impression of yourself if you aren't aware and cautious.
  8. That's right. That money could only be spent on guns or some other drug. It's a sickness and a sadness. It really isn't funny at all.
  9. Why is this a measurement for you? Can you not see that it speaks to the insanity and the inanity of the American gun culture you subscribe to? All it describes are dumb shits wasting their families money on useless guns and ammunition they will never use for defense. You know full well that most of those gun buyers don't have unlimited money and so something good they could have done will go undone. It's just plain stupid and you must know it.
  10. Please also tell us your enforcement plan, what penalties will be applied, and just who is going to be driving everyone to the border and watching that they do not return.
  11. Hey, I resemble that remark! And it's no longer good farm land. I rezoned it so now it's called something else and and also subdivided it so now it has imaginary lines running everywhere. Too dangerous to farm now, unfortunately.
  12. You've been spying on me! So, when one of your responsibilities is to keep the Earth First terrorists under control it seemed, at the time, politic to symbolically align ones new environmentally questionable business with the most dominant tree hugging group in the state. Hippies have long memories, it turns out.
  13. But only a slight one. We immediately got to work on an Airports Protection Bill. When it was signed into law a couple of years later imagine my surprise to learn that my Airport was now protected against any local government action of any kind and, just to be sure, my county needed to add an overlay zone to their comprehensive plan that included unlimited expansion of parachuting activities and aircraft operations at Skydive Oregon Airport. Boy, I sure caught a break with that one.
  14. Back before the DZ when I worked with the bird and bunny people to save the world I did a favor for a powerful lobbyist. Maybe a decade later when an anti skydiving bill was introduced in Oregon the other DZ's and USPA went the traditional route of crying and moaning and wishing it wasn't true. I, on the other hand, called in my favor and the thing was steered to the right committee and kept at the bottom of the inbox until the session ended. Once the problem was solved I was able to go back to deploring corruption.
  15. Sorry for the delay, I was traveling. Skydivers are among the biggest whores anywhere. But we really aren't more easily bought than everyone else. Apparently, when the sheik decided to buy Airspeed the money was enough to get Eliana to ignore any ethical considerations.
  16. Rational, I suppose, from a Conservative leaning, Libertarian, non-Progressive, Numerologistic, Randian point of view.
  17. Dumbasses. It's a homemade cheese steak.

    covid-19

It'll be hard to pay less than zero. Meanwhile, back to hockey. The Canadian Biotech firm Providence Therapeutics, that was producing it's own mRNA vaccine, is uprooting for greener pastures claiming lack of federal support. If their claims are true, and I'll start by believing your Pharma Bro's are no more believable than ours, that's not good.
  19. The wall isn't like the Keystone Pipeline, for example, in my analysis. There, cancelling the contracts amounts to lost value without any gain. Cancelling the wall not only cancels a dumb idea but also cancels a national embarrassment. For me, that alone justifies the cost.
  20. Well I'll be damned, the Mexicans have been smuggling guns into the USA?

    Yep. We're equal opportunity deplorers.

No slight to the famous and innovative Canadian Pharmaceutical industry but isn't is surprising the many ways the American taxpayer subsidizes our allies?

The real question is why aren't we charging you more?
  24. Now that the Supreme Court has accepted New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett things will either get vastly worse or somewhat better. Originalists Barrett and Gorsuch will be faced with addressing the historically flawed reasoning Scalia used to craft Heller. If they truly believe that preambles matter and there was no individual right to open carry under English Law things might just open up for some reasonable regulation. I highly doubt either will be true to their professed legal philosophies but then anything is possible.
