  1. You gotta love the country version of the Canadian National Anthem! WOOHOOOOO 'Canes!!! What a game! This whole town is Red and Black. Oh, and maybe a spot hungover...
  2. GO with your gut!! Oh, wait - mental note to self - catch up w/bonfire threads all the way through before hitting "reply" . You are right that things will change as you go through school and get exposed to new things. My HS boyfriend went into pre-med to be an oral surgeon and came out of med school sa a Pediactric Cardiologist. Your heart and passion will lead the way! I'm more convinced of that now than ever... Congrats!!
  3. Hee hee! I had a front-row seat for that one - or should I say back seat. Thanks for coming down. I'm glad your dogs decided to hang around this time too
  4. Sorry I didn't see this before you showed up at CSS to wing-off some stress. I'd have taken a minute to give you a hug and introduce myself to you. My belated sympathy to you. Pam ________________________________________
  5. Me too! My birthday's too late for all of the 2006 events, but at least I'll get the "POPs turns 40" special edition member patch. ________________________________________
  6. And places like Kansas, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Connecticut, NY and NJ!! What a nice weekend. Thanks everyone who stopped in at CSS, and especially those of you who weren't too scared to share the trail plane with the big-way yahoos. We hope you liked the altitude!! Congrats to all you Granders, BTW - pretty cool. Oh, and sticky too I bet.
  7. Hey everyone headed to the Boogie - There will be a North Carolina style pig pickin' cooked by our very own Stuart Wood on Saturday evening, tickets available for $8 - see Pam or Randy at the DZ Friday OR Saturday to purchase a ticket. Pork BBQ, potatoes, slaw, beans, dessert!!
  8. Yay!! Please don't leave without measuring me for my new Odyssey!!
  9. And we'll be very glad to drink it with ya! ________________________________________
  10. The heads-up ones, always. The tails-up ones - NEVER!!!
  11. Now THAT'S worth replying to! Yay!!! ________________________________________
  12. Great point! At WT06 at least one of the folks who did have hypoxia to the point of blacking out did have "other physiological factors" - he was severely congested. This meant poor absorption. The Dr. was quite certain that was the main factor. The person in the base also thought that congestion was the probable cause as well. We are used to sitting ourselves down from high alt jumps due to ear problems or blocked sinuses, but don't always take into account those things that may limit the effectiveness of what would normally be a satisfactory delivery of O2 to our bodies. High alt jumps are outside normal parameters of day-to-day skydiving, and should be dealt with that way. Just like with making different types of jumps (camera, wing, instructory) you have to have your checklist of safety and proceedural items that apply to each specific jump. ________________________________________
  13. It is a sport, and it is a hobby (see below), so none of the poll vote buttons work for me. It's not my career, and there is far more to life for me than just skydiving - but it takes nearly as much of my time and far more of my money than work or the rest of the things in my life... sport Pronunciation Key (spôrt, sprt) n. 1. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. 2. A particular form of this activity. 3 An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. 4. An active pastime; recreation. hob·by Pronunciation Key (hb) n. pl. hob·bies An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure. ________________________________________
  14. Thanks for letting me hop in the van with you for some very small parts of it. I had a blast jumping with you recently in Perris (it won't ever be the same without the hair/jumpsuit combo - damn, must find new visuals) and especially that chilly but clear day in December in North Carolina. I still remember looking around the packing area that weekend and saying to myself "what the hell am I doing here!?" It was an honor to jump with you the handful of times I was able, but especially on that one.
  15. I'm not a talking head fan, either, but my choice was made for me - the new car came with XM. There's no "All Buffet All the Time" channel, but then, that's why you have a CD player . I like Unsigned, Lucy for morning drives, Ethel cuz the name is cool. I'd like to have a dinner party with Frank's Place in the background or the 1940's channel. I have checked some of the comedy and could have done without the channel that had Phyllis Diller,. but the uncensored one was funny. I did catch the ACC tourney while I was on the road.
  16. That's the second time this week I've had to wipe tea from my screen... I have finally been rewarded for the guilty, time-wasting pleasure of reading Bonfire (though for a short time I was certain I had mistakenly lurked SC).
  17. that completely depends on the team, I watched the brits and the US girls and there was a broad band of cute to hideous in that mix (oops, this is bonfire) but I'm sure they all had nice personalities They showed a Curling Calendar early on in the competition. Talk about cleverly placed "stones"! Ahem!! First thing I thought upon seeing curling? Don't try it in tight pants. I can't bend like those... erm... um.. whatever they call that person who hurls the big rock thingies with the handle... and not pull a groin AND fall over on my arse in the trying. I do think they are taking some of these more obscure sports a little far in terms of TV coverage. But as a result of that coverage, I learned that this is only the 3rd games this was a full medal event. It was a "demonstration" event in '24, '32, '48, '64, '88 and '92 before being accepted. Now THAT's perseverance. ________________________________________
  18. Bengal Kitties rock!! I had one for 10 years. Their personalities and chatterbox talk are hilarious. Enjoy her - what a cutie!! ________________________________________
  19. I start the trip on Sunday. Calc says it's 9587 one way. RDU/JFK/ICN/BKK JFK/ICN leg is 13.5 hours , time including layovers is 28 hours going, and 27 hours returning. ________________________________________
  20. I'm working, but interestingly enough, the people who I usually conduct business with are all on Holiday. My company = no holiday, my customers = holiday. It is a nice day to get some work done and not have to tend too closely to the voice mails. Oh, and catch-up on DZ.com.
  21. Duh - of course I did. It was late, There may have been alcohol involved... ________________________________________
  22. Rumors of a relocated Harvest Moon are already afoot. Or was I just that loaded at Z-hills? ________________________________________
  23. I don't play. You should know that about me by now. If you really want to know who is who, go here: http://www.tk421.net/character/ It was great fun at Z-Hills last weekend. Did everyone get Mak's pics? If not, lemme know. I'll send em over. Dawn & Eric are this month's "Most Photogenic." ________________________________________
