  1. You have got to be kidding me that they aren't making a bunch of money with the stainless... Its all good that they do, but how can the sometimes $200 be justified? Hardware Main triple ring (444) ea Non SS $3.27 SS $9.17 Chest strap 101 ea Non SS $.99 SS $1.99 Riser rings ea Non SS $1.80/1.18 SS $5.27/4.05 --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  2. How many people on here have taken the time to send a letter to the NPS/Yosemite/etc concerning backcountry parachuting? I agree it is more fun to make fun of LeRoy, but it isn't very productive. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  3. Nope, not on the BASE board. The link goes to "Tit-ee bar(NSFW)", in the bonfire. Pretty funny that this post is as popular to BASE jumpers as tits are to skydivers. And the beauty is that the "World Famous Miles D" didn't even have to post. BTW, I've heard from reliable sources that RADIX is one of the most incredible videos to date. For $20 at that! Leroy, I have a 180' tower here that I want to open up, when you come out, we'll jump it together... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  4. I'm just stoked that this is going to make it to 10,000 hits after all!!! YEA!!! --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

  6. Hmmm, it doesn't sound like Miles had any part in the tragedy. And I would have thought it an honor if someone like Dan Osmon considered me a close friend, and someone who he trusted and wanted to have around when he tried pushing the limits like he often did. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    First BASE Gear

Yea, once upon a time, I had a shiny new vented/valved canopy. Everything about it kicks ass. This last year of heavy jumping has taken a toll on it, it isn't new anymore. And I have two new ones that were born to replace it. Anyone know enough about airlock technology, and how to use a sewing machine, to give it a shot? Even if this idea doesn't work, I can take the airlocks out. I am willing to spend my own money to try this, if someone has the skills and knowledge to go in the right direction...? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    First BASE Gear

Seriously- I'll put the offer there, again. I will work overtime at my crappy job to afford another canopy, if someone will build me an airlocked canopy with bottom skin vents. And I'll go to TF and knock 6 jumps a day until I have about 100 videos with belly mount DV shooting up to get video of the openings. I'll jump it from a plane with friends taping from the side, in all flight profiles. I've tried and tried to get interest going on this, I can't imagine that can be all bad... If it is a horrible idea, tell me why. If it just hasn't been tested as far as it could, build it... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    BASE Magazine

I might change my mind before that. However, I did get to work 2 hours doing gear checks at BD'04, that opened my eyes... Not everyone is jumping pimped out BASE-specific gear. For sure... Thank you for judging my BASE experience though... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    BASE Magazine

Um, just finished reading the 1983 issue. I think I have pretty big balls climbing our As, or jumping in Moab. With my Warlock. And my vented/ valved Blackjacks. At sites that have been jumped for decades. Etc... Early BASE must have been an experience that I cannot even begin to comprehend. In fact, I will do a jump with a Wonderhog and StratoCloud at BD'05, just to get a taste of that craziness... WOW, thanks to the pioneers... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    First BASE Gear

AIRLOCKS with bottom skin vents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, if there is a manufacturer out there that is willing to make one, (again?) I'll buy one... There seems to be another potential advantage! --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  12. Ok, you win. I am stupid. Why is it that people have to dissect posts, and try to prove that everyone is wrong, and they are right, point by point? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  13. Yea, this one needs to hit 10,000 views... Priceless... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  14. I would strongly recommend a wide angle of .3-.65... Hope this helps --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  15. I think the most important lesson is this: You are a skydiver, and can make decisions for yourself. Ask around the dz, ask online here, read incident reports, etc... But do whatever it takes for yourself to be comfortable when you leave the plane. There are some out there that jump two audibles, an Alti3, Cypres, etc.. You get to decide what you need to feel safe. Until you can make decisions not to wear some of these things, wear them and don't use them. Or just keep them there as backup. Whatever, but be comfortable, and be safe... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  16. Nice, then Sid is the man, and made that website after watching me pack somewhere... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  17. Anyone else try not only putting the d-bag around the packjob, but also to just do the first s-fold, then into the d-bag, then the second s-fold? I would take pics, but don't have skydive gear anymore... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  18. Hmmmm, I just ordered from Para-gear, thinking it was the only place that would have hardware.... I paid $16/ea for some hardware through them. Had to order $50 for minimum credit card. So I bought a whole bunch of stuff that I didn't want/need. Paid $8 for a small envelope to get shipped. The part that I ordered is $3.27 at dj-associates... Damn --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  19. Just because you jump with two audibles, an Alti3, and a Cypres, doesn't mean that everyone that doesn't is unsafe and dangerous. I stopped wearing an alti when I gave mine to my brother, when he started jumping. I sold my audibles when I needed money for BASE. I sold my Cypres when I needed more money for BASE. Now, I pay attention to the ground below me, and pull when I am comfortable, or uncomfortable. I know what 2000' looks like. Why is it so hard to understand the concept that you can make decisions based on your eyes? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    Moab Exit on I-70!

Yea, I've noticed that also. Since mile markers are so interesting lately, coming from TF to Colorado, there is a sign saying Cheyenne 425mi, then a couple miles later, one that says Cheyenne 420mi... Time to celebrate after leaving that little stretch in no tolerance UT... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  21. Hey Abbie, why are you an Avery-hater? I think there should be a whole misinformed thread started, where you and Avery can throw down, a couple people would have their days made seeing something like that... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  22. I think my Advisor is the best money I've spent in BASE, except for my Han-Wag boots. Makes ladder climbs, unknown crane climbs, etc much better. For skydiving, I don't think it is anywhere near accurate, or at least doesn't measure, or update, nearly fast enough. Just my thoughts. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    RADIX VIDEO DONE

DAMN Jimmy, $20? Thats a lot less than a lot of the other videos I've seen out lately. Standard Issue rocked, I can't wait to see how sick this new one is. My money is in the mail, for both Radix and another copy of Standard Issue, everyone keeps taking my copies... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  24. Totally, I was going to say that with my Sony MS cameras, USB 1 is even too slow to move over 1.2mp images... I can't imagine ~300mb/min DV video clips... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  25. But back to my previous thread, what if you do want a fashion show... What are the properties of dacron lines as far as taking dye. Any dye from the fabric store? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
