  1. So I talked to some manufacturers that have extensive experience building and testing these, but was unable to get them to sell me one, not even to help out with the R&D... So, I am going to build my own, with no known design to work with or copy except for the ones I saw a week ago. I will most likely make the same mistakes that they have made, most likely have malfunctions due to this... If anyone has a bag design that they are willing to share, please PM it over. It seems silly to develop such a great idea from scratch when they are already developed and working well... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  2. Yea, a little penicillin goes a long way. You know Mr. Jose, all that BASE I did made me appreciate not having rubber bands in pack jobs that I wanted to open well. After I saw one of these d-bags the other day, it seems silly to jump with bands. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  3. Anyone know where to get a berger d-bag? One that doesn't use bands, just figure8s, etc... Are manufacturers offering them for those who are qualified, or is it an after marget thing? Thanks, Peter --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  4. We're trying to find cheap plugs into the Rebels. My Conceptus setup lasted about that short, just spliced into that line.. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  5. If anyone is interested in some of these, they are working excellent and if the demand is there, I can make a couple and send them out. The problem with that crappy $40 bite switch is that when it broke in a couple jumps, I was sitting there looking at 12 tandem photo jumps that I had to do that day, and return/replacement would be about 4-5 days at best to Hawaii. It would be easier if they made them work better in the first place. If anyone is interested, PM and I'll send two out for $15 and $5 in shipping. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  6. The bite switch that I ordered from Para-Gear lasted about 20 jumps. It worked flawless for the first 15, then I tasted that electricity taste for a couple jumps. Upon closer inspection, it was oozing this brown foamy stuff and was punctured all over. Not impressed. Cost me about $40... I made a homemade tongue switch that is working great since, cost about $2. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  7. There are easy ways to slow your openings if they are too hard slider up. Slider material choice, packing/nose rolling techniques, etc... Every time I am terminal within a few seconds of impact, it can't open up fast enough for me... I have a ZeroP composite Ace, and a ZeroP composite Blackjack. Without rambling on and on about how they are the best canopies ever, just add ZeroP and it awe inspiring. The range of flight is incredible- it allows you to sink in ways that you wouldn't be able to with all F111, and glides like a parachute should. Flare power is increased, and it sounds much cooler when it opens than all F111. That alone should sell you. I think other than the $250 for my Hanwags, it was the best $200 I spent in BASE, without a doubt. Best canopies ever... EVER --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  8. Blackjack with the ZeroP composite... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  9. Ever wonder why brakes don't come from the manufacturers with more than one or two brake settings? Seems that it is a very critical issue in safety and opening performance, but one that very few people do because they don't have bar-tack machines in their closet... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  10. Well, Brush is closed, bust Colorado Sky Sports in Canon City has the cleanest, fastest climbing turbine in southern Colorado. Best vibes, you'll love it unless you are a wannabe skygod or phallus... The USPA regional director is the only here one that isn't invited there, everyone else loves it... Excessive rules are for losers... Check out the forums at www.coloradoskysports.com, bitch all you want on their forums!!! --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  11. What is the best price that people have found for the DigiRebel XT lately? I've found $889.. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

    Low cliff jumping?

I think it all comes down to what you are asking.. If you are freefalling 200' objects, the canopy will open in time, 99.9% of the time. That is not "demanding". But when you freefall a 200' cliff, and it opens in time, but doesn't open facing the good direction- you'll be busy for a few demanding seconds.. --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  13. Thats funny. I've only made one jump ever without mine- the first. Ever since then, it has never been off its Spectra necklace... Sure did make you feel wanted by those friendly skydivers, huh? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  14. Mr WFFC, What is your interest/knowledge in this matter? I have seen several of your posts already, some deleted. And it seems that you know much more than even I do in this matter, and it is my dropzone that is presently without gear. If you are an accomplice in this theft, I would strongly recommend that you come clean with the sheriffs department, and hope for leniency. I never thought I would see the day when skydivers break into locked dropzones, and steal gear. I have never thought twice about leaving my cameras and rigs unattended, but this changes things. Since day 1 in skydiving, I was sure that good karma would be rewarded, and bad karma would be punished... I would stay on the ground if I were you... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  15. Why not use a couple wraps of masking tape, sticky-side out, located as high as possible up against the line attachment point? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  16. I have a ZP Ace and now a ZP Blackjack. And a lot of recent jumps on the F111 Blackjack and Mojo. In my opinion, the ZP topskin/foreskin is the bestest thing ever. EVER! The only negative I've heard from other jumpers was slightly more difficult packing, but I've found just the opposite. The transition is at the first packing tab, where the first lobe fold is, so it is almost a non-issue. But as far as having a canopy that flies more efficiently, glides more efficiently, sinks like magic, and flares solid, I sold my beloved Blackjack to replace it with the ZP Blackjack. Imagine landing your PD reserve, and then saying that you couldn't tell the difference flying your Spectre. Nothing will save you if you suck, but playing with these ZP composite canopies, I would rather have ZP than vents, 99% of the time. Especially if you are trying to dodge 60' pine trees off local tall As... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  17. Ahhh, Mr. DexterBASE, I think I can still remember the way out to TF.. Peter PS Bringing any hot BASE jumper chicks with you this time? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime

  19. Yea, I have one of those containers also. It would have been easier to edit your post to keep yourself out of hot water than to claim that you have a three canopy/one harness system... Chest mounted main, with two other back mounted canopies, that gets cutaway, legally? Priceless!!! Why not just d-bag that crap canopy, with a groundlaunch harness underneath a skydive container? Oh yea, we have those 3-in-1 containers... The rules are the rules, BillVon... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  20. I just can't imagine knowingly and intentionally getting myself into a situation, where I would have only one canopy, and one chance, to save my life. That would be a LOT of trust in the container/canopy. Maybe I'll try it someday... But seriously, why would BillVon's situation be legal under the BSR (recommendations, NOT regulations)? --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  21. What's even more funny is when its not a rivalry. Just jealousy. Unidirectional jealousy. The attention is flattering. Thank you... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  22. Wouldn't that mean that you would be jumping a container/canopy system, where you would be, for all practical purposes, intentionally cutting away? Are you going to wear a belly mount to fully comply with the FARs? Just curious... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  23. If anything, this comes from the days of AFF with little canopy understanding. Seeing a couple people yank down as hard as they can on rear risers, and, not surprisingly, crashing in, keeps most from trying it at the dz. With a skydive canopy, there isn't a huge need to practice it, the toggles will "always" be there. Once you get into BASE, you learn that you can't be scared of the rear risers. Just to the opposite, you go through drills, mentally and physically, that directly involve rear riser input, to save your life when the canopy opens and you see a rockface up close and personal. Slider down means you will have a lot more chance to test out your rear riser landings, versus slider up and skydiving. I just think you're thinking about skydiving too much, and swooping too hard... As far as the poll, I vote to do whatever it takes to get on the ground safely and unhurt... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
  24. Why not perform the stunt from an ultralight? There would be no need for a TSO'd rig, no license to take from the pilot, etc. Or maybe the wingsuit needs to go through a $50,000 TSO approval process? I wonder where skydiving would be today if the pioneers from the 60's and 70's were online back then, debating online if something was legal, or if they should do it even if it isn't 100% safe. Or if they should make more regulations... Remember, FAR 105.17... http://www.chutinggallery.com/services/safety/far105.htm#105.17 I can't believe that skydivers would tell someone, who has the skill level to attempt something like this, that they have to have a TSO'd rig, and would be in support of the FAA revoking the pilots certificates. Seems to me, the way you guys are regulating yourselves now, within 5 years, jump ticket prices will be $50, or it will simply be impossible to skydive without buying a $10,000 TSO'd rig... Its a good thing it wasn't always like this... --------------- Peter BASE - The Ultimate Victimless Crime
