  1. Yeah! That's the vid, I like it. Let me know when team HMB has that second video done, Chad and I are definitely going to want a copy. And not to hijack this thread, so congrats again Amanduh! Katie. Edit: typo
  2. Thanks, Malcom! It was nice to meet you and thanks for the gc, let us know next time you're in town.
  3. Congratulations, Amanduh!!! Welcome to the family! Congrats to Brits too! I think I have video of you doing your unpacked B, niiiiice. Katie.
  4. Thanks guys! I am so happy, I feel like it's my birthday or something, hehe. I was dragging at work towards the end of the day today, but I was (am) so happy I didn't even care! Batman, John Doe and Black Death Bill, what an incredible jump, thanks guys! Congrats to you too John Doe! Hmmm...we both got our B's, is that why you wanted to exit first?

Oh! Chad I'm glad you remembered...yes, the business deal... Stay safe Bryan, we want you back here healthy, brother. Katie.
  6. Congratulations, Jaap! That's awesome! We'll have to get together soon and have a beer to celebrate.
  7. Ooooooh, let's make fun of Katie! Dynamic smoke vents or not, those steam columns are laid over even when it's fine...
  8. The Kung Pow Ranch is where it's at! That's on my top 2 list for breakfast places.
  9. Hey Canuck, Chad and I won't make it to Twin this year for Memorial Day, but we'll be there Labor Day and some time in between for sure. Adventure Racing is like crack. The more we train, the more we're inspired to train and this race just made us want more! Maybe we'll run into Winnie Chang in one of the bigger races. Does she ever come to the US? That would be sweet to meet another fellow BASE jumper/adventure racer!
  10. Our first adventure race was last night! Thanks for your input on naming our team, we went with Raw Feat and we're really happy with it. This adventure race was just a sprint, but it was so much fun. We checked in and they gave us a course map to study which was a topo map with 21 check points on it. We started off running through some beautiful trails on a big hill and ended up winding our way down to the beach. We ran along the beach which was tough with the soft sand in parts and slippery sea weed and big rock fields (and the people on the beach wondering why the heck a strung out line of people with packs on were all running around). We hit the checkpoint at the end of our beach run and started back, it was encouraging to see the amount of people we were ahead of was greater than the amount ahead of us. When we got back to where the beach leg started, there was a manned check point and a surprise task of building a sand-castle 16" high. It was fun and a nice (quick) little rest. They told us where to find the secret location of check point 15 which was left off the map and we took off. The whole running portion was 8 miles. We transitioned to bikes and took to the streets for this urban navigation part of the race for another ten miles. We chugged up some nasty hills on our mountain bikes and screamed down some fun ones too. It was really cool to see other teams go zooming around because all you could see was a pack of bike lights. (The race didn't start until 7pm so it was getting dark by the time we even got on bikes). Aside from getting lost once, and passing one of the check points which made us have to backtrack a few hundred meters, it went pretty smoothly. Chad did an awesome job getting us back on course. We are exhausted today from putting out so hard last night and getting in so late, but it was soooo fun. At any point, we would look at eachother and smile we were having such a good time. There was a guy taking video when we were running in to the check point to make the sandcastle. I'll post a link if he puts it up on the website. Results from the race http://www.mergeo.com/beast/b-results.asp Katie.

    Congrats 850

    Congratulations Faber!
  12. Tom, you crack me up everytime people start talking about the memorial day boogie. Nobody seems to listen that it's the worst time to go, and hey, up until a little while ago Chad and I were planning on going too. Sadly, the work schedules won't allow it this year (tell Cheri we're bummed out about it), but we'll be there Labor Day and definitely some time in between
  13. Once I start my count-down, that means I have already commited. I have never started a count-down then chickened out. I have, however, been fully geared up at the exit point and backed off of each object. I want a chicken BASE number, put me on that list Tom.
  14. Nice Jamie! You should have mentioned your cool BASE jumping friends...
  15. Hey Jaap, My parents had an idea I was BASE jumping and my mom came out and asked me so I told them the truth. It was absolutely horrible. My dad flat out couldn't fathom why I would do something like that, he was mad enough that skydiving had taken over my life since that day the two of us had done our first jump courses together. (That was his only skydive). It got to the point where the word "BASE" pretty much wasn't allowed. I remember specifically a time when my sister and I were both over at my parents house and she asked me a question to which the answer involved BASE, but I just said skydiving. My dad, who was sitting right there, said "thanks" because he could see I was trying not to upset him. Right now my parents and I have an agreement that as long as I am a full time student with good grades, they will pay for my school and help me out. It almost got to the point where I was offered an ultamatum between BASE jumping and their help. Don't be discouraged though Jaap. Over the last year, my mom has actually asked to see BASE footage (a very little bit at a time). My parents were over at our place for dinner and my dad was going through our pics on the computer and actually asked me to email him one of Chad and me standing at exit point that he liked. I still don't bring it up in front of my parents, and I know it scares them that their little girl is risking so much, but they are slowly coming around. Let them do it at their own speed, and just know they love you. I made another thread involving my dad and his thoughts here http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=984493;#984493 Katie. You're not alone brother.
  16. I'm Katie from the greater Seattle area. I'm down for a big-way, sounds like fun!
  17. Hell yeah they do, have you had the pumpkin spice lattes? Those are good too!
  18. I don't think gymnastics is bad, but that rhythmic gymnastics? Who the hell came up with that, c'mon. A hoolahoop, ribbon or ball to dance around with? How did that get into the Olympics?
  19. Hey Jaap, good thing you didn't jump that one off our object eh? That conveyer could have been bad news. I am very happy to hear that you are alright. At least now you know how not to pack your PC, I am looking forward to seeing how you did it when you post the pictures step-by-step. It seems like if you took a 5 sec delay that when the pc hesi cleared it would open your parachute pretty damn fast and did if the people on the land couldn't see your canopy out by the time you passed the trees and it still opened in time. Maybe the reason you aren't too busted up is if your bracing position put you head high.
  20. That's not a bad idea, heh heh heh...
  21. Nice Tim, hehe. I like "faster than you" but we don't really know if we're going to get our asses handed to us... we did think of "Which Way's North?" That's probably more appropriate. We're so stoked for the race though!
  22. Alright guys, Dexter and I aren't just talking about it, we're actually registering for our first adventure race coming up May 3rd! We've been training hard and it should be a ton of fun, but we need a team name. During adventure races, you get can get pretty dirty so we thought "Mud Monsters" and "Mud Pirates" were appropriate. "Mojo Monsters" comes from my love for anything that has to do with "Mojo" since the NPS took my Mojo canopy (and it's just a cool word...). "Raw Feat" is because your feet have a high potential for turning into hamburger during a tough race, and it's a feat to finish. "Masoquest" comes from the words "masochist" since much of adventure racing has to do with inflicting pain and suffering on yourself (no sexual ties thank you). The "quest" part is because you're on one

    Age survey...

Sweet! Only 20 more years for me until life starts, the last few have been pretty incredible too... Most of the jumpers around here are somewhere between their mid-20's and late 30's.
  24. Hey guys, I don't normally post here, but I couldn't pass this thread up. I am absolutely crazy, silly, over-the-top in love with Dexter
  25. You can't buy his penis! Besides, Tim, you would have to learn to walk again leaning backwards to counter the weight. $1800?! Who do you think is first in line for that rig?
