  1. think that's Chronicle 3... (fun lovin criminals)...
  2. All of the tunes mentioned here so far I recognize, but the song in question is not really that type of song - it's more of a moody, atmospheric thing. It's not playing for that long during the video.
  3. I'm looking for the artist's name and song title from "Freefly Clowns Chronicle I". It's playing during a section where Olav is doing layouts. Lyrics contain "Everything is all right at this moment." Anyone know? Thanks.
  4. Cool, I'll try that. Thanks all for the help.
  5. http://www.flickr.com/photos/3ric07/82859431/ anyone? thanks in advance
  6. That's always struck me as funny...
  7. If you're flying head down or head up, you can see, and it doesn't hurt, but you'll probably be squinting a bit and won't necessarily be pleased about your decision to jump w/o them. Can't say I've tried backflying w/o goggles, though. Anyone? Landing w/o goggles can make your eyes water, and can therefore reduce your ability to land safely.
  8. Just a quick tip: if you end up on your back a lot, the natural tendancy is to try to "sit up". In other words, you try to pull your upper body towards your legs. This is actually opposite of what you want to do, since it creates a de-arch, and tends to keep you on your back (until you rock back and forth and eventually do sit up). Instead, arch your back a bit. Catch air on your upper body (on your back). This will push you upright.
  9. Even GW is rockin' the atmo (see attachment below). Don't have the heart to tell him he forgot his rig, though. From: http://www.planetdan.net/pics/misc/georgerag.swf
  10. I like to skydive :) Seriously though, at some point I realized something: I don't really care who invented what, coined what term, etc. What the atmonauti group did, for me, is raise my awareness to something that I hadn't spent a lot of time on. I'll venture to say that I consider atmonauti different-ish. Different "enough" to be different in my eyes. But that's not what I care about. It's the skill level that Marco and gang have shown that made me go "yeah, I want to do that that well!", so I thank them for that. Label it whatever you want, or not. I don't see anyone arguing the skill that Marco and his friends have shown - and that's what I find most impressive about "atmonauti".
  11. While we're on the topic of freefly suits, I'm wondering about anyone's experience with 2 piece freefly suits. Do thes suit pieces attach to each other in some way? If not, what keeps the the upper part from moving while in freefall?
  12. Thanks for the info. Glad to see you're maintaining a sense of humor. I tried to when I hurt myself as well. Named my walker "Luke".... as in..... Luke Mywalker
  13. http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/freefall-record/2006/02/09/1139379597765.html congrats!
  14. One note: if you jump someplace that gets a bit colder in the winter, having a little extra fabric in the torso is good, so you can put some layers of clothes on underneath your suit. You want to be able to still zip up your suit
  15. For home practice: I used to put myself in the typical "bicycle" exercise position - holding yourself upside-down-ish, with legs in the air. Then, I'd close my eyes, move my legs into various positions, based on what I was visualizing. So, if I was picturing taking a single right hand dock, I'd have my legs in a semi-daffy position, with my left leg behind me. Then I'd open my eyes and see where my legs are. What this does is not teach you the exact position your legs will be in when doing something, but helps you in general leg movement position, with visual feedback. In the sky, you typically don't look at your legs. Maybe on the ground, while reviewing video. But not in the air. So this exercise is a chance to learn to move your legs and then check your positions after you move them. In reality, the leg positions you practice will differ in the air, so don't, while in the air, try to force your legs into a position that's not working. You'll have to adjust. But it is good for the reason mentioned above. Also, while thinking about this, another thing I used to do while in the air, particularly while headdown, is to bring all the limbs in (close your legs, bring arms to sides), then open them up, keeping my knees and elbows locked. This helped move me away from the typical-newbie headdown body position where the legs are bowed out, as if riding a horse. I wanted my knees more straight ahead, not pointing outwards.
  16. I'm sure if you're already knowledgable about what is entailed in training in other areas of life, you could probably come up with a good regimine for yourself. Things that helped my headdown skills - solo drills: Tap feet together Tap foot with opposite hand, behind back Put both hands in front Put single hand in front Pull single arm in across chest (so flying with one arm out) When doing any of these, you should initially try them where the action is quick. In other words, put a single hand out in front for a second, then bring it back to normal position, and have your body recover. Later, repeat, but keep your hand out for 5 seconds. Also, later, you can try them with your eyes closed (be safe, though!) For tricks, practice: Single, double, triple: cartwheels, 360s, front and back flips. For cartwheels, practice this while keeping one arm stretched out in front of you (good practice for doing docked cartwheels later). Doing double and triple tricks really will reveal if there's a weakness in technique, as it's often possible to do a sloppy single cartwheel, but maintain position. Once you start rotating multiple times, you'll discover that improper form magnifies problems. Again, can do these with eyes closed.
  17. Interesting. We've (Ozone Junkies) been using the names "Rogan Josh" and "Half Rogan" since 1999. For us: Rogan Josh: synchronized docked double cartwheels (each flyer turns the counter-clockwise relative to the direction they are facing, so the flyers are NOT rotating in the same direction). We (Adam and I) have hit this move once. 1/2 Rogan: same as Full Rogan, only with sychronized docked single cartwheels (instead of double). Also interesting: Adam and I do an "Intruder" which is an over-under type of move. One person in a sit, docked with the other head down. Sit person does 1/2 back flip, passing the dock between the legs, while the headdown person goes under, ending up in a sit. Just for kicks: "Colon Robber" is a docked triple cartwheel (one person at a time, both flyers are head down). There's a video of us doing these moves (except for the Full Rogan Josh) on SkydivingMovies.com - movie name is OzoneJunkies-2001-Large.mov. A lot of the footage is from us training for the 2000 Nationals. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2808
  18. yeah, but what happens when you want to downsize??
  19. If your fear stems from not knowing how you will react when you get in the plane, try doing something that many skydivers do: visualize. Sit down in a nice quiet room, and picture the whole process, including gearing up and getting in the plane. Maintain nice steady breathing. Try this once or twice a day (don't over do it). The more you learn to visualize, the better skydiver you'll be. This goes especially for building skills in the air. We only have a limited amount of time while in freefall, but you can spend a lot of time visualizing freefall. There's been numerous articles in various skydiving publications (and other sports pubs) discussing the huge benefits.
  20. I'm guessing, since you're still very new, that the canopy course instructor, for at least your first jump, won't give you any new exercises to try, but will simply tell you to fly your normal pattern and land as your normally would, with him/her observing. In this case, you wouldn't have any new variables from the canopy course to worry about on the first or 2nd jump. Again, just guessing here...
  21. Don't know how to take this... but whatever, thanks for the free bump
  22. Our site is down for reconstruction, but I finally got around to uploading our little 5 minute video to SkydivingMovies.com. It's called OzoneJunkies-2001-Large.mov : http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2808 CODEC: requires quicktime, or quicktime alternative: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm enjoy.
