  1. I don't really see that as the major problem. That would be a real political disaster for the current administration, that would be the greatest fallout probably. The much bigger problem is having a few hundred thousand people from really diverse backgrounds who are traumatized and feel completely displaced integrate into German society. Estimates say only about 1/10 can be immediately integrated into the work force. It will be major challenge for the school system which is quite desolate as it is. It will leave lots of people feeling completely disenfranchised, with nothing to do... That's the real danger IMHO.
  2. I think they are completely overwhelmed with the situation. I also think that Merkels politics is generally reactionary and opportunistic. At the moment the Germans are feeling really welcommy towards all the refugees and without the major help of all the volunteers the whole thing would look way worse than it is. Merkel is using this for popularity. Now the powers that be are very scared that at a certain point the majority population will turn against the refugees and Merkel wants to on the one hand stop that from happening and on the other stop the really pissed off people from running to right wing partys. And you are completely right, the way the current refugee system is set up, it cannot handle that many people by a long shot. This will also lead to big conflicts within our society when integration fails miserably again.
  3. It means that people where super racist during bible times...
  4. Subjectively, I think the Police started it and only they can stop it.

  6. http://www.kpbs.org/news/2014/jul/08/california-ranks-worlds-8th-largest-economy-overta/ California is the 8th largest economy on earth(bigger than Russia and Italy), I think you can afford a small tribute towards the climate.
  7. I wouldn't trust my children near a person suffering from paranoid delusions, the chance that they play with your gun and injure someone or themselves is much greater than you saving them from an imaginary enemy.
  8. There is so much wrong with you just wrote it's actually quite unbelievable that an educated man has such simple world view. I'll try to explain. The real reason for the strong American military presence was Russia, if you'd payed any attention in history class you would know that the cold war started pretty much right after WW2 and the enemy was literally behind a wall in Germany. The US was very interested in holding a strong strategic influence in Europe as counter point to Warsaw pact and Germany was perfect for that due the divide and lost war. I'm not even going to start with the economic reasons for the US involvement because that would make my answer even more complicated. But if it makes you feel better, the US was only here to hold gun to our chests. Do you really think that's the only reason Germany hasn't started another war? Right now Germany has one of the most pacifist societies on earth. Every time Germany wants to get involved in any conflict there is major outcry and huge public debate. In the last 70 years only one our countries could be considered a war monger... Guess which one. And it's not that the US didn't repeatedly request German military involvement in their various adventures, you know, as thank you for protecting us from the Russians, hell Germany even has troops in Afghanistan. If Germany is peaceful because you have us outgunned why does the US have highest violent crime rate of any 1st world country? Flawless logic. To add another incredibly stupid comment in the same spirit, I feel safer with a German pilot than any American police officer.
  9. I cannot for the life of me imagine living a life where I think it's necessary to wear two guns all the time. I think it's absolutely unbelievable that you accept living in a society where you think you must be ready to take a life at moments notice. I cannot fathom the paranoia one must have to live like that. I can imagine you eyeing "suspicious" people, thinking over the tactical situation in the 7/11 where you go to get milk, checking which aisle gives the best cover in Walmart. Do you sit in a tactically favorable position in church? You only sit where you can see the entrance, you only go to churches with solid wood pews for better cover? Does your quality of life not suffer from being constantly worried, that you could get shot at any moment?
  10. If only all those little boys( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_cases) and girls (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic_Church_sexual_abuse_scandal_in_Ireland ) had you to tell them to have more faith they would have considered their rape a blessing.

    FIFA

While I believe it could be factor, the German press is speculating that his lawyers advised him step back because if gets indicted every word he now utters as the FIFA president can be used against him...
  13. In western Europe it has. Germany's economy is based on exactly that for the last 60 years and it's arguably the most successful on earth right now.
  14. As long headlines such as this are making are making news all the good will drown out in public perception. Man Threatens Suicide, Police Kill Him http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/05/28/man-calls-suicide-line-police-kill-him.html

    FIFA

The US sought them arrested by the Swiss police in order for them to be extradited. Corruption harms the sponsors of FIFA/World Cup. Since the sponsors are by large American corporations like Nike and Coka Cola, the US government is doing what it does best. Protect corporate interests.
  16. Thanks Wendy. Interesting perspective. That's true, I was talking about the connotations a hijab has in western society and why it's not good for integration.
  17. Yeah, I thought you would react that way. As soon as somebody asks uncomfortable questions believers tend put their hands over their ears and sing LA LA LA... It was very interesting reading about your perspective... As bewildering as it was. Cheers.
  18. The fact that a niqab is simply incompatible with western societal standards and I simply do not believe that a woman "wants" to wear a niqab, she is forced to do so by her surrounding culture and she is not free to leave that culture, that's why the government steps in to try and ensure her freedom from a oppressive culture and family environment. The government wants woman to integrate into the society they chose to live in which is again impossible by hiding your face. Precisely in the way that woman have fought to wear non modest clothes without the fear of oppression, being fondeld or raped. I'm sorry, you cannot integrate into western society by wearing a niqab, just as you can't integrate into Saudi Arabian culture while wearing a bikini. A hijab is something else, from a western standpoint it is still a sign of oppression by a male dominated society and it is very visible sign of divisiveness. Please show me the exact Sure where God stated you must wear a Hijab. I'm not talking about some Hadith or another mufti interpretation that says wearing a Hijab is a sign of modesty. If it's modesty you want, you need to wear a full niqab. Yeah, you're really a strong woman for hiding your hair from men in one the most tolerant societies on earth. Yes I am judging you through eyes of my own culture, and I believe I have every right to do so. You see, wearing a niqab or a hijab is in the eyes of my culture not a woman's choice but something forced upon them by their culture. A culture which often has a death penalty of leaving it. Why are you ignoring that argument? It's not directly about the Hijab but what it represents. It's completely fine for a woman to wear modest clothes, as long she does this on her own volition. The culture that brought about the hijab and the niqab are completely male dominated and woman are oppressed in these cultures like no other, they are killed by their own family for trying to leave... The hijab and esp. the niqab are inherent signs of this oppressive male dominated culture, you wearing them and saying you do this proudly simply states that you believe in stone age gender roles.
  19. It is absolutely not the same. SA forces woman to wear certain cloths in public. France only says certain clothes cannot be worn because they are detrimental to what we consider a free society. The problem is these woman are not free to decide to wear certain clothes, they are pressured into it by their culture and they not free to leave that culture. The price for wanting to leave is often ones life. There are plenty of examples of honor killings of woman who decided to live a more western oriented lifestyle, but keep telling yourself they all do it out of free will... Hell, 2 days ago a girl was shot in the head for singing in casting show. Wearing a hijab or a niqab diametrically opposes everything woman have reached for gender equality in the last 100 years and makes integration into western society impossible. You yourself say you don't want men to give unwarranted attention, are you such a weak woman that you have to hide from men because they ogle you sometimes? The step to not being allowed to leave your own house without the company of a male family member is not far from that type of thinking....
  20. It was very interesting listening to you describe a different culture but now you've completely gone off the deep end. SA and France are not even in slightest comparable. SA has executed 88 people since the beginning of the year for crimes ranging from apostasy to being gay to being a rape victim. Just tell me the last time France stoned a woman that was raped or whipped man within inch of his life for writing a blog. Naah, but France is the same as Saudi Arabia because they want woman to integrate into the culture they chose to live in.... I hope you will someday come live the real world....
  21. Only a lawyer could try to formulate such bullshit! That was a perfect Godwin. I can't believe you are a professional, your response is childish and pathetic. But you have almost manged to derail the thread by creating imaginary controversy( Germans vs. US) and not said single word about issue at hand. You are an expert in the Ciubaca defense.

I don't think you can ever make sure an organization can works 100% reliably. I do think however innocent people shouldn't be actively killed because a government agency has quality control issues.
  23. At least the ISIS camps are located conveniently next to the FEMA camps.
  24. Do you really think 15 or 30 years is a long term prognosis? I agree, though liberals aren't pushing for education reform to tell all kids "GMO's are bad, duh." BTW, one of the major problems in any such discussion is the black and white conservative/liberal issue. I don't think any educated liberal in this forum or anywhere else believe in homeopathy is good or that all GMO's are bad. As the study I posted in the OP clearly states, conservatives believe they have a disproportionate understanding of climate science and base their views on that. Thats a problem. It's called Dunning-Kruger effect. Conservatives at least according to this study are literally blinded by dogma. I would like to counter your context less graphs with my own context less graphs. http://s3.amazonaws.com/mmc-beta-production/assets/11709/maldives.jpg http://www.climatedata.info/resources/Impacts/Sea-Levels/SeaLevel-01.gif You where saying?
