  1. Actually a lot of guys run full on mid-controls right there with open belt drives. Plus I keep my pant leg on that side wrapped with a strip of Velcro. Before that I did get it caught in the front pulley a couple of times before I just learned how to avoid it. Besides, you just go around once and it spits you out, LOL! And besides it's only scary the first couple of times . . . NickD
  2. Well, the ankle is getting better. In two weeks I'm taking 9ina for a 400 mile road trip, and you know, she's not exactly set up to be a long ranger cruiser. So I built and installed some mid-rest foot pegs. Just so I could switch foot positions once in a while. I used some round bar stock and drilled and tapped a hole for the one on the belt side in the motor plate. On the other side I had to build a bracket for it and ran it off the bottom frame rail. Just came back from road testing it and it works great. (I can't believe it's night time in SoCal and still 75 degrees!) NickD
  3. I use the GoPro HD on my motorcycle . . . The 1080p is terrific on a big screen (Youtube doesn't do it justice) and it has wind noise canceling built into its firmware so the sound is pretty good too. For the price you can't go wrong. (I believe there's a slightly stripped down model out now for under $200.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlxraPVtMKc NickD

  6. Good story, except my stock in trade these days, "is" clueless old ladies . . . NickD
  7. I had the first accident on 9ina last night! (only my second motorcycle accident in 30 years. ) Heading up the 210 Freeway to visit a friend the traffic was bad and I was trying to merge left. I looked over my shoulder and starting leaning into the next lane, and bang! The cage on my right side slide right into my lane and me. I didn't go down, I guess because I was leaning away from him, but he shoved me almost two lanes over. I looked to my right after he hit me and saw his eyes were like saucers. He just kept going though. I rode another mile or so trying to shake off the shakes, and my right leg started hurting. And I couldn't use the rear brake without it hurting like hell. I turned around and limped it home and now today my ankle is all swollen up. I guess I had my right foot hanging off the peg and when he hit me it got pinned under. Not a scratch on 9ina though, thank goodness. Thank god 9ina didn't get squirrelly, she's a good girl! Anyway, any girls want to come over and pack me in ice, or just want to come over and get packed? NickD
  8. How safe does this look? It's a snow removing device used by the Long Island Railroad. Not only is there no containment of any kind should a compressor fan or turbine wheel blow up, how would you like to be the driver staring into the teeth of that first compressor all day? Plus the train and jet engine are serioulsy working against each other. NickD
  9. Honestly, I didn't see what took 1st in my class. When I walked down off the stage I was so stunned and happy everything else was sort of a blur . . . I do want to see it too though, so I'll see if I can find a photo. NickD
  10. I gotta hand to "Jax" - Charlie Hunnam - from Son's of Anarchy! He hung out way past the time he was scheduled and made sure every girlie that swooned over him got a chance to meet him. And when he did finally leave, it wasn't in a limo, he rode his own bike out into the LA night. It was pretty cool! He's a good Son! NickD
  11. I won 2nd place in the "Evo to Present" Radical Class at the 2011 Easyriders Motorcycle Show in Los Angeles today! I'm so proud of 9ina!!!! The last shot is just a passing cutie I asked to pose on 9ina . . . LOL! NickD
  12. Know what part 105 and a roll of toilet paper have in common? Nothing! NickD
  13. >>According to Skyrider, that doesn't count.
  14. >>Hey Nick..."Takin' a trip?"
  15. Usually, I would be going ballistic over something like this. But, when I thought about it, I came to this progressive conclusion. Without the N-word in print stupid conservative rednecks will eventually forget they ever heard the word (six months or so) and it will finally go away forever. NickD
  16. >>I thought I would toss out a pic of my dad

    Sorry ...

Jimmie Cricket is right! Without Skyrider my "Winter Bike Project" thread is going to be stone dead . . . Come on mods. Banned for life means just like it is on a for real drop zone, only a month or so . . NickD

    Sorry ...

In honor of Skyrider's banning for life in the BF . . . Which sucked, come on you guys, really? Let the brothers go! Not all of us are Bill Vons or Lou Dimonds, get a fucking sense of humor . . . http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/8219127/ NickD
  19. Never minding the potential for a micro-burst, I think it could have gone either way. So I'll defer to captain's digression. Except for one way. If they had to go around for any reason, they'd have been smack in the heart of that thunderstorm. All in all that was stupid. NickD

  24. I did an online translation of that story and it seems the bike was shipped to Belgium in 1942. The private owner rode it once or twice and then he crashed. So not wanting to ride anymore he stored it in his backyard. When it got in the way of his kids play area he opened an old well and dumped the bike down into it and covered it over. Then the fellow in the photos (who I think is a relative who heard the story) dug it up! Pretty cool! BTW, Nina and I are entered into upcoming Easy Rider Bike Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the spectator judging class! It's on the 8th! NickD
