  1. Why more speed? You don´t need more speed unless you are perfectly accurate, do you? Trading accuracy for speed is a bad choice in my opinion! At about 800 Jumps already wrung everything out of his Xaos27 108 and maxed it out at every other rotation and accuracy?? I do not know him but I don´t think so! But then...maybe i´m wrong! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  2. You could look at it this way: parking your car = landing your parachute! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  3. As for everyone who´s interessted in knowing if they need a "speed-cypres" this Link should anwser most questions. No Wingloading recommendation from Airtec...but they needed a 3.1 Wingload to exceed the activation speed of the "regular" cypres2. Excerpt from the Link ... Interessting read. ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  4. Try to get in touch with the guy´s from www.basetownmedia.de they´re pretty active. Mostly in the south! They all live in or near Munich! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  5. Ok, flame me...honestly, do! i thought i should´nt be entering this...but now, I do...I´m way off the chart, but did fine what´s so ever, i´ve jumped a Spectre 150 with 150jumps @wl 1.5, jumped several canopies (including Stilleto´s, Vengeance and XF´2s) after that with about 300 to 500 jumps @ Wl of up to 1.9...and thats is what I jump right now with just a little over 700 jumps! According to the Chart I should´nt do so...I understand...I appreciate that "something like" a guideline is presented from someone with a very good reputation is out there... I read the book, I learned a lot, I try to stay save, maybe I´m out of the norm or just lucky, I don´t know...I feel comfortable putting my canopy (XF2 119 wl 1.9) in your backyard...done that once or twice...and swooping it through the pond and being able to keep myself dry (except my shoes)...ok, sometimes I´m not as accurate as I wanna be, but still ok! And for that...what if I told you that JC told me personally that I´m good with what I´m doing...which was trying to get some good accuracy doing 270s??? I don´t mean to say I´m just another hot-shot, "nothing´s gonna hurt me" type of guy...´cause I got a close call that same day and Dan B.C. talked to me quite intense about taking care of myself and not ruin the nice day, and he was totally right, no doubt! I wanna stay alive and don´t hurt myself, I love live to much to be stupid and take chances where there are none! I don´t wanna sound like a total dick..but maybe I do, but everyone has the right to do as they wanna do! It´s difficult to get my point across...I just wanna say it´s good that we watch out for each other...but still...everybody has to take the chances he want´s to give himself...some give themselves realistic one´s...other´s don´t...but who are we to tell them off?!?! I do believe that everybody is responsible for everything they do, that includes choosing a canopy at every wl they desire! Although the people selling them that canopy are responsible telling them not to do so if they think it´s not ok...but what more can you do? The only option is not to sell it to that person...but then again, if he or she want´s it...there´s nothing more to it than telling them, again, they are responsible for themselves, you should learn that with the first jumps you do...pack, jump, pull, stay alive, that´s the thing´s you learn from the beginning! Everybody has the right to execute this behavior just the way they feel right about it! Who are you to tell somebody that he should´nt do this or that...we are free to execute our right, no matter what, even if it includes our right to die..as long as you do not endanger someone else...who the f*** cares..it hurts, even if i don´t know you, but you have the god damn right to do so and i´m not gonna blame you for it! Maybe I´m just a stat waiting to happen...I accept the risk, I´m aware of it, I know that I´m maybe gonna hurt myself badly one day...this is my risk and I´m willing to take it for the fun I have and I wanna keep it as calculatebale (does that word exist) as possible!! Otherwise, I do agree that educating jumpers about the risks involved in jumping hp canopies is a very necessary thing to do...even more it´s a requirement to every educated jumper...but still it´s everyones own choice what they do... Sound´s hard, but hey, live´s hard.. if you don´t recognize you´re own limit´s you won´t get old..Darvin´s where ever you look! And you´re land is the one of the free...at least that´s the last I heard of! i´m sorry if I offended anyone, that´s just what I think about "absolute" charts....nothing more and nothing less... You never know until you go....! Stay save, keep clear and live! I know about the "land of the free"...but please just think about that...you´re contradicting yourself, but that´s a different story and a different thread..sorry! Just one last question...what or who got you to start this never ending discussion??? Something must have happend to get you really upset! I´d really like to what! cheers! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  6. Not really a review, but the homepage of the manufacturer Paratec Germany! There are some info´s, maybe it helps! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  7. Sorry, this is not the canopy we´re talking about in this thread, it´s the crappy Demon from Performance Variable! You can see it from the looks of it, every Demon has this "Bat" type o´thingy sewn on it! Video is from the IPC World Cup at Perris last year, right?! So, sorry, next time, please do your homework before you start talking about something you obviously don´t know about! Cheers! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  8. If it says 10/04 then you have to replace the batteries somewhen in October, but not on a specific date! Yes, the reserve has to be opened to change the batteries, but if the same rigger that packed your reserve the last time opens the reserve you don´t need a repack, he can just break HIS OWN seal, open the reserve container, put new batteries in your cypres and close the container again with a new seal. That is only if you are inbetween your reserve repack circle! Saves you the money of a repack! Otherwise the reserve has to be repacked after the seal was broken from a different rigger. ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  9. Your way off topic, go take that into PM´s! You are around, you defended yourself, now children let go of it and be nice again! C-ya! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  10. It´s all about promotion! It´s his job do be in the media for his sponsors, nothing more nothing less! If it´s not such such a big deal for you to land a small canopy, then fine, but it may be for others. Same with JC when he sets a new distance record he´s getting more and more media attention whch makes him more and more valuable for his sponsors, the one´s who pay him! It´s a business and this one lives from the attention of the people! Compare it to other sports, like football, tennis or over here in europe soccer! Even though one might not be the best, then still get the most attention and the most money! People like Anna Kournikova, a pretty good female tennis player, but never won a tournament, but still got the best advertising contracts from her sponsors! Even better than the no.1 ranked female tennis player! So if you´re in this business and you earn your money with it, it´s your job to get noticed for what you´ve accomplished! If you can do the same, fine, either go out and tell everybody that you can do it better or shut up and just keep on doing it for yourself! Obviously, you are not doing it for yourself! Otherwise you just would have laughed about the hype and kept on doing it for yourself! Poor you, nobody recognizes you, and your sooo good! >sarcasm< But on the other hand, who the f... cares about who has the smallest! I don´t! But anyway, big up to JC for having that phat swoop!! I´m impressed!! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  11. Yep, I have a Powerbook G4, but with the Media Player! What do I do wrong? ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  12. Can´t open or download it! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  13. Ok, ok, thicker,....thinner,...., equal....whatever! Give us europeans a chance! We try hard to keep things moving and I think we´ve did a pretty good job in this case! However, I like it and everyone out there that get´s a chance to fly it should do so. It´s a really nice canopy and worth a try! Peace! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  14. Definitely, yes! I don´t doubt that! It´s the pilot what makes the difference! But I didn´t talk about the pilot, I´ve talked about the design of a canopy! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
  15. Ok, I know it´s not the best photo (actually it´s a Vid-cap) but I think you can see that the airfoil of the R.A.G.E (86sqft) isn´t thicker than that from a VX (96sqft). Seen both in direct comparison, I´d say that from the R.A.G.E is in fact thinner. Ok, one can argue about the trim of the canopy, but that´s a personal point of view, I think seeing people doing 360`s diving turns from around 1000 ft is pretty impressive and i´ve seen the R.A.G.E landed with just rears, so it´s just personal preferance and what you´re used to and comfortable with, as always! On the other hand, I do think xbraced canopies are still superior when it comes to competition swooping! But imagine if the two technologies could be usefully packed into one canopy. Now that would be interesting! A ridgid airfoil with a nearly non deformed nose and a nearly perfect laminar airflow with minimized airflow distortion. As close as it get´s to a "real" wing! ------------------------------------------------------ ROCK ON,.....HARD! Proud European!!
