Equipment, Sidewinder container, Sabre 2 190 main, Raven II Reserve, Cypres 2, no RSL. Hop and Pop from 3000agl with no winds. Open at 2500 and I collapsed the slider and grabbed brakes to release them and right side was fine, left side came down about 6-8" and stuck tight. I looked at alti now at about 2200ft and then looked to see if I could fix it. Took a quick glance and tried to use both hands and no good would start spinning to the left. I grabbed risers and thought can I land this on risers and given the input I had to use on the right to get it to steer straight I was not comfortable with that option. So now at 1800 and tucked my feet up and cutaway and seen both risers go and the reserve pull and under the Raven at 1500. Had a very fast landing in no winds and had to plf it. Upon inspection of the main I either stowed the excess wrong with the toggle looped through it somehow or my excess came out of the keepers and I reached through the loop when I grabbed my brakes.

I know, just when I thought I had all my FIRST'S done for a while! Bwhahaaaaaaaaaaa!

I landed about a mile away this morning and it was my first reserve ride!

I am not a expert but if your instructor turns you loose for your first freefall that means He has no doubt that you can do it on your own! So take that as a confidence builder and if your arch has been like you describe you should have no problem doing your first pull. Do it just the same as a practice pull and "Rock On". Also let us know how it went for you.

I didnt compare the two rigs. He said 3 week delivery on the Mirage if anyone could do better to prove it. 2 weeks delivery is shorter than 3 weeks!

Thats right, 3 weeks. If anyone can find a better deal than that, prove it. Mirage is by far the best manufactuerer with the fastest return rate of them all, HANDS DOWN. Thanks Ward and all at Mirage Sys Strong has the Quasar II at very good price and promise 2 week delivery time!

I went through the IAD course and the way it was explained to me was that after you leave the strut to count to 5 and check, arch thousand, two thousand..ect. They told me that perception of time in that first jump can differ alot from jumper to jumper, so after 5 seconds you should have a canopy over your head, if you do not go to emergency procedures. They told me that 1 or 2 seconds could possibly seem like a long time and if not for the 5 count, students would be cutting away canopies that just havent opened yet.

My own opinion is, it is jewelry. Anyone could have or wear one, although not very many will or do because they don't know what they are. Your profile says you have survived 20 jumps so "Rock on Sister!" It also shows other people who know what a closing pin is that you have jumped, or are at least associated with the sport and also is a great conversation starter!

I think on Fly like a pro, Kevin says, " A hook turn is the last thing you did before your ride to the hospital". I thought that was great!

My question is can anyone here pack and close thier rig tight enough to pick it up off the foor by the bridle? I have tried to experiment with mine (nothing better to do in the north winter) and have had 2 hands on the pullup to get the pin in and when I pulled the bridle out the pin always comes out of the loop easily, nowhere near lifting the rig off the floor. I would think you would have to use some sort of closing device to get a main pin tight enough to lift the rig off the floor?

This, unfortunately, is getting to be very common like you said with all the E-bay stores or services that sell for people. Someone brings in a rig to sell and the person who does the selling doesn't know anything about Skydiving will sell it to anyone who bids the most. This was a GREAT catch on your part though to check it out and make sure that He would be experienced enough to jump that! GOOD JOB!

Does anyone know if Icarus put's on new logo panels when you send one in for a reline? I sent one off for a friend a VX-96 to get relined and He said when he sent off his Vengeance that PD put new panels on without him asking for them, pretty nice service there.

When the house was raided there was no one home. Police were called to the house initially because of a report of gunfire. Bullet holes all over. Got access to the house when they found everything inside. The guy with the rig is still free as of now. The police may come knocking at the DZ to try and find this guy and if there are drugs at the DZ, theres no tellen what may happen at the DZ by police. There still is not enough info as to why the police entered the residence. If they obtained a search warrant then yes the illegal items would be admissible in court. If they did not then they would have to prove that they had to enter without a warrant, such as they thought there may be someone in there of medical attention or has been killed by the shots. They, the police, would then have to make a convincing argument in court that they had to enter. If the court finds that they did not have the probable cause to enter, then the only thing they can do is seize the illegal material and it would not be admissible in court. The rig would not be illegal and he would get it and everything else that is not illegal to own back. I worked as a sheriff deputy back in the 90's for about 6 years and do remember that without a warrant that the District Atty would very rarely look at any case where a warrant was not obtained.

This post made me think of a situation that happened a couple of years ago that you all may enjoy. A couple of friends of mine were attending college in Havre Montana and decided to venture North to Medicine Hat Alberta for the weekend. They went and had a good time and a few days later got a citation in the mail from the RCMP along with a photo of their car as they had ran a red light and the intersection had camera patrol. I was working as a Sheriff Deputy at the time and they were wondering if they would have to pay it? I told them that they probably wouldn't come and get them, but if they returned to Alberta and got stopped for anything they would have a warrant out on them. They then took a picture of a check and sent to the RCMP as a joke. A few days later they got another letter with a picture of a set of handcuffs! They then sent real money!

That is a Awesome rig!!

My instructor's put me on a triathlon 190 at 247 out the door on jump 27. I just love it but we also have acres and acres of landing area with no hazards. At 156 jumps on this canopy and about 20 on Sabre2 190 I am just starting to touch their performance abilities.

Here is a couple of pics of one of the first Icons that were made. It is a very nice rig! Pic's are grabs off my helmet cam so they are not that great but these are the same colors as you desire.

Not sure what to expect as this was my first boogie. Showed up a day early and was met by Fred before I even got stopped! Got me on a Cessna load with Ty to get a feel of the place and helped me get all my stuff set up. Boogie was awesome as well as all the staff at Lost Prairie! A++++++++++++++

I just picked up my mail and got a package from Bill! 10 photo copies of log book pages with the Chuteless jumps and high altitude record jump, also a signed photo of Bill on what I think is a Para Wing? It looks triangular in shape! Thanks once again Bill! Kelly
