  1. I only have one complaint. Tell me why, when the rest of the U.S. Army loudly proclaims the ONE ARMY concept, and the GK's #1 mission is recruiting, why it's for Active Duty only? When Army Reserve and ARNG soldiers are fighting the same fight, why does the GK exclude them only based on duty status? I have jumped many times on Army Aircraft without being on active duty. Does our blood bleed another color? I don't think it's right; I challenge the GK to show me in Army Regulation where USAR/ARNG soldiers not on active duty are not eligable. It should be open to all regardless of component. You do a disservice to your brothers-in-arms when you exclude them. Oh, yeah, and by the way, isn't Cheryl Sterns a USAR soldier? 2. The best part about the video I saw was that, after the person shooting saw the CASA dive out, he quit watching and they WENT BACK TO THE FORMATION. That was the REAL irony. I've got it SOMEWHERE. Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  3. I won't like it, but realize that we must continue this organization. A price increase will not keep me from renewing my membership. Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  4. I am really sad to see this day. I have been subscribing for over a decade - and one of my joys every month was to find an issue in the mail. I think returning the check is a great idea and thanks for all they they have done for the sport. We are really going to miss SKYDIVING. BUMMER. 5. Uhh...Blue Oyster Cult? Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  6. Jeez my co-workers are giving me all kinds of S#$@... Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  7. I'd be there. Instead of WFFC 07, I went to Summerfest. IMHO, not even a comparison; WFFC ROCKS I haven't missed one in 10 years, so Don, build it and I will BE THERE. Lemonhead, you better get your sorry ass there too! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  8. Actually, B license, 200 Jumps....i wouldn't recommend you try it yet.... Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  9. I AM BUMMED OUT BAAAAD I GOTTA GO SOMEWHERE!!!! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  10. My wife and I jumped there on our honeymoon (1998)(the pic in my signature is from that day); the landing areas is somewhat consticted (Water, Hotel, Coral reef), and the wind was blowing about 30 MPH. We had to get out 2 miles out over the ocean.... So I understand their hesitancy to allow upjumpers. Be current, talk to them via email, use floatation device, and be SURE you can LAND in a tight area in high winds! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  11. The first (and only) one I had (at about #800) was at the WFFC in 98. I didn't have time to think about it, just did it. Was shakey on ground, but knew right then I wasn't going to let it beat me. Got my other rig, and climbed right back onto the airplane. If you fall off the horse, brush yourself off and climb right back into the saddle...hang in there! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  12. I was initally afraid of my own pack jobs too. But I had other experienced jumpers watch me until I felt confident enough to do it myself. Just remember to use the correct procedure based on the type of pack you are doing, do it in order, and never be afraid to start over if you feel you need to. Also, as you progress to another canopy, remember you may have to relearn a different method of packing. Now, 2000 jumps later, I'm more scared of OTHER peoples pack jobs...I won't hardly LET anyone else pack my rig. At the WFFC this last year, I watched one packer pack 3 partials in a row... believe me, NOBODY cares more about your pack job the Y O U. 13. Now, that SUCKS. It's gotta be a skydiver or 'hanger-on". Bardstown is too small a place, where 'everybody know's your name', for it not to be someone known to the drop zone. And that's the part that sucks the most; that someone you know stole your stuff. I hope the culprit is caught fast because I hate to think of everyone there being suspicious of everyone else. I hope the culprit gets the living daylights kicked out of him (or her). You could look at the bright side I guess - an excuse to buy new gear! P.S. LOVED the Chirstmas Card Kenny!!!! 14. It's Relative Workshop. Just ordered 2 new sets via telephone. They finally added RLS rings which is why I wanted a new set. They are great risers (will NOT accidentally come loose). Thanks for the lead! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  15. Does anyone know who/where is making the mini risers that use a pin as a toggle keeper? I have a set (love them), but trying to find set that includes RSL hookup. Thanks skydivr Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  16. Chris was a well-respected and decent member of the skydiving community. You could always count on a straight answer, even if it was something you didn't want to hear- It was his DZ, and he called the shots. More than once, Chris counseled me on not getting too small a canopy (or reserve) too quickly; in fact, I upped the size of my container now on order because he reminded me I'm not 21 anymore and a 118 reserve was too small. Chris also had a great sense of humor (which I sometimes missed when he'd crack something off). We always had a good time when he was around. A couple of rememberances: I remember the last load flown on Mr. Douglas a few years ago, when Chris comes back from the cockpit and says, "I guess we'll all have to get out a five grand". When someone asked why, he grinned as he pointed to the port window; the prop was sitting still.... Then, at WFFC 2003, we were getting ready to try and chunk that 17-way off the C130; Chris was on the back deck with his birdman suit on; it had rained earlier and the cloud cover at sunset was simply beautiful. I remember watching him look out the back deck, and thought, "I'll bet it's beautiful from his vantage point." (SEE ATTACHED PIC - that's him in relief) We had a laugh later when he saw them give the green light and we were getting put out over Interstate 57! Melissa and I will miss Chris, and we offer our sincere condolences to his Kristi and the girls. Blue skies our friend. 17. Nice Pic - although I'd have to admit I'd rather be IN that skydive than filming it! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  18. Thanks! My thumbwheel seems to work whether the switch is on or off right now! Keith Abner D-17590 "Those who do, can't explain; those who don't, can't understand"
  19. Would like to hear what settings everyone is running their D10 in for skydiving? AF/Manual Focus (think that answer is pretty much manual at infinity?); Speed? Mode (Sports?, Shutter or Apeture Priority, etc?) D10 w/Sigma 15mm. Tired of trying to fetch stills off my video camera, Even though it worked OK for the 2003 WFFC Diary I put up http://tn_skydivr.tripod.com/wffc2003 Thanks!
