Why should anyone believe anything? Especially coming from RonD1120. I wonder what the 1120 is? Maybe it's his secret agent number.

D1120 is in fact my expert license number, issued 1965 by the PCA.

That is why I refer to "fire and brimstone" sermons as lazy preacher's methods. I could never worship a god that I feared.

I agree with you first position. In these days we need teachers. The main obstacle is the student must accept the subject first or they won't listen and follow instruction. Thus the born again experience becomes paramount.

God loves you and does not want you to perish. Jesus died so that you can be free, right now.

    The scripture shows:

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

     Pro 3:5

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;

It's abundantly clear that Ron's views have ZERO to do with the actual teachings of Jesus.
He's got that 'I accepted Jesus as my personal savior, so I'm cool doing whatever the fuck I want and I'm "saved"' bullshit going on.

    Conveniently forgetting Matthew 25:40.

The Bible clearly indicates that in the last days before Jesus' return that His believers will be hated by the world and even martyred. In a micro sense you, et. al, are validating scripture generally and my faith specifically.

    Thank you.

There are two reasons that a trait is propagated.

    1) It has advantages to the person who is reproducing; thus people who possess that trait are favored over those who do not. (Example - fertility)
    2) It has advantages to the society overall; thus societies where that trait is maintained are favored over those who do not, even if it makes some individuals less likely to reproduce. (Example - sickle cell anemia)

Homosexuality has no reproductive advantage.  Hence the second must be true.

So there was a time in your life where you were sexually attracted to your fellow male soldiers as much as you were to women, and you just decided to act on one and not the other?  Did your brothers in arms know about that sexual attraction you had for them?

I was never faced with that choice. My choices in the military were women or skydives.

As are all fornicators and adulterers. Why the deep concern for those who prefer to kiss members of the same sex?

There are all the same. Sexual sin is sexual sin.

Non answer. You simply can not know that, you might guess that or hope that but no more. Given the prevalence of homosexuality in nature how can you not suspect it is a natural thing, not a choice? There are cultures unaffected by Christianity, the matriarchal Gunas of Guna Yala for one example, that accept overt homosexuality and cross dressing as perfectly normal. Can you not suspect it is in their DNA?

You always want to choose some far out people group to create a hypothetical intellectual argument. I don't know anything about the Panamanian Aborigines. I can only guess that the Wycliff Bible Translators have not reached them, yet.

This I know, on 16 Mar 81 the Holy Spirit spoke to me and asked me what was my block against Jesus. I had no satisfactory answer. He showed the door of a C-47 and said, "You must have faith to go through the door."

Being born-again is an experience unlike anything else I had ever experienced. There is no intellectual reasoning that will produce it. I takes total surrenderr of the self, the ego, and ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and come into your heart. If you are sincere, total surrender, you receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

It is a choice, no debate.

The Bible says the sins of the father will manifest down to the third or fourth generation. There is a genetic predisposition to alcoholism. Most professionals accept this. How can there be a genetic predisposition to homosexuality when homosexuals do not procreate? It is a choice.

BTW, Brittany looked and talked like a man last night at the NAACP awards. I still think he is a phoney.

You can choose to mock and disrespect your fellow humans, cast judgement upon them.  But you're going to Heaven because you're in Jesus's good books, those other sinners can face eternal consequences

It is not for me to judge. I have no personal vested interest in these folks. The Bible says they will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Why does your god continue to create things he hates?

God loves us all so much that He provided His Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our sinful choices. All we have to do is accept His grace and mercy.

Y'all got me going, more to follow.

If you believe that is true, how do you square that with your denigrating dismissals of the lifestyles and beliefs of others who were "born this way"? Is it not likely that homosexuality etc. etc. is in those of your fellow human beings DNA?

    Took you long enough. 8-)

Well then, that justifies a lot mistrust, misunderstanding and a fair amount of the hatred in the world then. It must kind of suck to be you.

No, because I know who I am, where I came from, and where I am going. The Bible provides the answers.

Actually, it is more accurate to say, Whose I am.

So if my perception of Evangelicals is that the vast majority (not all, but certainly most) are bigoted, hypocritical lying idiots, people who shit ALL OVER that Jesus fella and his teachings, then that's 'reality'?

    It is your reality.

You should know that I understand this thinking of yours and I get it. But I often wonder if you understand that someone else can have a completely different perception from yours and that their reality is just as valid as yours.

    That is the point.

OK, at least I thought it was good; it's a cheat sheet

    Cheat Sheet

To me, just being aware helps me to question the biases. And to accept some (I'm always going to look for the good; I'm always going to emphasize politeness and respect over conflict -- those are how I'm built).

    I like it.

    Perception is reality.

I certainly recognize and adhere to science. Furthermore, I am not a follower of religious dogma.

While I can not imagine where we are in agreement on probably every other matter, I do respect that your self is inside of what you post and that what you post is what you believe. On that note, is there anyway we can buy up all copies of your soon to be published self help book so as to actually save the world from further chaos?

It is not that kind of book. It will be, if I actually write it, directed as a help text for Christian counselors, pastors, preachers, and ministers.

What is making this forum uninteresting is the lack of personality in the posts of too many here. Too many follow the format of: I R 1 Y R U 1? Too many have no other thing to say other than what someone else said is in error or to pick out a pointless point as an example. We have experts in dissection, we have Huffington Post caliber news aggregators, we have quick Googlers, we have world class pedants, etc. but we are short of people who are more interested in exposing themselves than their correspondents; we are short of people who put themselves inside their posts. To put it plainly, too many who post here are dry, humorless, and give next to no insight into themselves outside of the impression that being repetitive or petty is a key conversational virtue. Of course, that is the definition of boring. Hence our current attrition rate. What to do? Well, I have my ideas but it's not my site and, as any fool can say, I am not Mod material. So maybe we can all take a look at ourselves before our next post and ask if how we are making our point is helping or hurting in the long term.

People do not learn anything if they don't ask questions. Posters here do that very rarely. And, in general, they hate articulation.

  17. The best that Q had to offer was that it gave some measure of hope to 50% of the common folk. We know that the other 50% is flat out lying to us.

  18. To paraphrase Oswald Chambers, if you are able to handle all your problems by yourself then you have no need for Jesus Christ in your life. Jesus came for those who realize that they are facing something beyond their ability. A very common scenario is to attempt to use the mind to solve a mental problem; talking to yourself without resolution.

With that consideration, I offer the following excerpt from my forthcoming work, Spiritual Esoteric Psychology:

Think of human consciousness as a sphere completely surrounding the person. On the inside of that sphere is recorded all learned information and knowledge. Some of that knowledge is true and can be relied upon to produce positive results when applied. Some recorded knowledge is only partly true and therefore works only some of the time. Lastly, some knowledge is completely false and will never produce a positive outcome.

In order to grow, the human consciousness must access new information and then assemble it into knowledge and classify it as true, partly true, or false. That new information lies outside the sphere of consciousness, sometimes called the great void. In order to access this new information the consciousness shell must be cracked. This produces a flood of new information. The process is called cracking the shell of ignorance because it exposes what was not previously known.

Cracking the shell of ignorance creates an emotional reaction, sometimes pleasant. Most often it manifests fear, anger, pain, or sorrow. It is here that Jesus Christ can be called upon for guidance by His Holy Spirit.
