  1. I agree. But at this point a guess at info is better than nothing. My boss is down my neck about the schedule and I'm just attempting to miss as little as possible! Thanks again. Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  2. Thanks for the suggestion - I checked the events calendar and it hasn't been updated and manifest didn't know yet either, so I thought I might try here in case someone had any info! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  3. I need to block out work weekends for next year I know the MWSL meets are 5/21 and 8/20 and the women's vertical record attempts are possibly 6/25 & 6/26? Anyone know of other events already scheduled at SDC, especially in June & July? Thanks!
  4. I'm hoping to buy a Nikon Coolpix 4800 or 5200 for a Christmas present, but I know *nothing* about digital cameras. I've done some reading online and checked around the stores, but I'm looking for some personal recommendations. Any feedback on this particular camera? Anyone have another recommendation in the $350 - $400 range? Thanks! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  5. Flustrated. I don't think it's even a word! You can be frustrated. Even flustered. But when you're both, apparently you say this! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  6. Beth - looks like you're slutty enough for our 4way team, now finish AFP! [
  7. Thanks everyone for your input. I'll be sure to try on the helmets as well. JP - What is your favorite full face helmet and why? Can you tell me why you think the Z1 offers minimal protection and recommend a more protective helmet for RW? Thanks. Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  8. Now that's amusing. Stu takes the lead as the team slut. Hey, team slut... now that has a nice ring to it Guess you'd better work on your score Doug to fit in! Any volunteers to help Dougiefresh get his score up? Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  9. Hi all, Anyone have the soft touch z1? I'm thinking about buying one, but I have not found much online regarding this particular helmet finish. Has anyone noticed more/less scratching or issues with this soft touch coating? Would you recommend it? Thanks. Blue skies, AJ Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  10. Ha ha ha! I didn't notice your score posted Dougie? And FYI, I am de-sluttified... I think that score was college-based!
  11. Hm... I got a 65%? Sunny are you sure you filled in all of those answer blanks? Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  12. Val, then you tell Doug. He's going to be heartbroken. I heard about Sunny's potential costume. I'll be watching her, but mostly to see people's reactions!
  13. Uh huh, just stop scaring the crap out of me on opening, okay? Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  14. We drew straws. It's Dougiefresh's turn to watch Sunny. Congrats Doug! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  15. I don't pack cuz I only learned it once to get my license and I don't remember how.... Then I decided to wait to learn again until I got my own rig.... Now it's cuz the weather's been too nice to take time out of the day from jumping to learn to pack again... Wonder what my excuse will be this winter...too cold to pack? I intend to eventually learn, but Sunny has just been irresistable Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  16. Have a great time at bigway camp eeneR! Nice to meet you yesterday! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  17. I agree! Though my opinion may be biased since SDC is the only place I've ever jumped
  18. Thanks everyone for all your advice, info, and pm's. I'll be doing some more reading on the topic. This is very exciting!
  19. Doug - are you kidding? You were one of the people I was thinking about talking to. I had a great time on our jump and I think if you eat a lot of pizza this winter we can hang Ha ha, maybe just some weights
  20. Hello! An experienced jumper at my DZ suggested I try to form a 4way team for the rookie NSL division for next year. I will be talking to the experienced 4 way teams at my DZ for further advice, but since it's at least another few weeks until I'm back there to chat I have a question... Should we try to form teams according to fall rate? I fall darn fast and it's everything I can do to slow down while my buddy is bending in half even with appropriate suits. So for newbies do you form a team with people who fall like you or just get weights/suits to help make up the difference and learn to fly together better? I read the FUN 4way team article and it was very helpful, but if anyone has any advice or input I would appreciate hearing that too! Thanks & blue skies! 21. I skydive right now because of the rush, the feeling of freedom in the sky, and the challenge of learning so many new skills. I also have a great time jumping with all my new friends. It's been positive that skydiving has given me more confidence in other areas of my life. For example, when I'd be up to bat in softball I'd get really nervous. Now I just tell myself, come on, you jump out of planes, just relax and hit. Same thing goes for stressful situations at work. My relationships with friends and family have improved. I've tried to really be in the moment with whuffo friends and family because all I think about now is skydiving and all I want to do is skydive. So I when I spend time with them I really give it my all. Only negative change is my usual frugal self spends every penny on more jumping!
  22. Thanks for posting that story. I enjoyed reading it. And it'll be great for my whuffo friends to have a less biased viewpoint to hear from with regards to doing a tandem! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
  23. My rush for wanting to downsize was financial. The 210 & 190 I was jumping as a student were more expensive to rent (and sometimes to pack) than the 170. I also wanted to buy gear and did not want to buy a 210 or 190 that I would be wanting to drop down from in another few months. Yes, I realize these were not safe thoughts and injuries are expensive. I'm just adding to the conversation of why people may want to downsize more quickly. (In the end I went to my instructor who assured me I had the skills to be safe on a 170 and helped me to downsize appropriately) Blue skies. 24. Aw Beth! Sorry to hear your knee is still bothering you! When you're all healed up, we'll hit the DZ mats and practice those PLF's! Hang in there! Well behaved women rarely make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
