  1. After AFF for sure. AND you should buy used gear the first time around. After a few hundred jumps you'll be ready for something else.
  2. On that note, I know people that wash/rinse/dry a can of soda (or beer) before they open it up and drink it. If I see something on the can I may blow it off or wipe it with my (dirty) shirt, but washing it is going too far in my book. I'll just take my chances.
  3. It's Not bad for me. I go out of my way to find Chinese food places that use MSG. The way I see it if there is NO MSG it's just meat and veggies in water. If they get ready to ban it or something stupid, I'll have to go out and buy a bunch to keep me going.
  4. I notice people on the second (or higher) floor think no one on the street can see them. I see a lot of naked people, but never on the ground level. Not that I'm looking, and it does not matter what city/state I'm in. If you live or have a bedroom on a higher than ground level floor, ANYONE CAN STILL SEE YOU.

    Skype

Skype is a PITA, I use Gizmo5, It was Sipphone way back when. I also have Inphonex. 2 Sipphone accounts and 1 inphonex account attached to IPkall phone numbers with Elastix Running on a Virtual Machine at home. www.sipphone.com www.inphonex.com www.elastix.org www.ipkall.com If you care, Elastix is an Asterisk based distro also running FreePBX. Oh, and I can make free calls to skype users if I really wanted to. AND I never get calls from telemarketers or bill collectors.
  6. I'm so disappointed. I want to go but I'll already be back in OH by then.
  7. I've run into a few here and there. One of the things I like to do is get to the DZ and hang out for a little bit and get a feel of the place and observe what all is going on. The first time I may only do 1 or 2 jumps (if it feels right), then move on down the road. When I'm traveling it is pretty difficult to get away and go jump but it does happen sometimes. I've only been 1 place that I didn't like but I was still under 100 jumps and it was a pretty darn big DZ with a lot of people and it seemed like everyone was an ass. I did 1 jump, packed and left. I've shown up at other DZ's and people wouldn't leave me alone (very friendly).
  8. Someone I work with asked me to sign up, he is my only link or friend. I have used it to research people that I was going to do business with and I've almost always found them on there. But then again, I only have 1 friend on dropzone.com and it was out of pity. I think she would be my friend if I knew her.
  9. I remember giving $25 via PayPal last April. My PayPal Account remembers also. I don't remember where the link was and I'm sure it's not there anymore, but you used to be able to donate via PayPal.
  10. Most stores will try to get you filled in 15 minutes. Some locations are pretty busy. How many piles of baskets are sitting around with unfilled orders? How much crap is waiting to be picked up? See if your doctor does e-prescriptions of any kind, can it be called in or faxed in in your state? Most of your problem is the store that you go to, try a shorter name store (3 letters). There should be one across the street. If you have refills, refill online.
  11. Everyone knows USAIR stands for Underwater Seats Available In Rear. Great job to everyone, even the guy in his undies swimming to shore.
  12. H&P's are great fun. At my DZ everyone is surprised when I go all the way up. I get poked fun at because I like them, Low, High, whatever. Just get me above the power lines and I'll be fine. The only "scare" I had was when I was jumping a Classic 304 that someone else packed for me. I got out at about 2k and had about a 1k snivel. I was pumping the risers like crazy, started to reach for the cutaway and it finished opening. I landed on the tuffet, and went to change my pants.
  13. Wow , I'd have a gun by my bed too. I do have 3 dogs that may give me a few extra seconds at some point. An alarm system does not really do a lot of good. Who arms it when they are just hanging out in the house (not sleeping or gone)? Everyone that has an alarm knows they should but a very few do that sort of thing. Duress code, most people don't know it or would not remember when they needed it. If someone I don't know comes to the door, I make my wife answer it and go to the other room or half way upstairs. Most of the time I'm half dressed or less and she is dressed, that makes it "right", right? It also would allow more time if something happened, I never thought of that.
  14. That's what really gets me. I could shoot em if they come in my house BUT if I were to catch them in the detached garage I get in trouble for holding them at gun point until the police arrive. I'd still do it, but what a pain.
  15. Right now it looks like I'll be driving from WI back to OH. Sounds like a good time, huh?
  16. All I would have to do is sit on my porch between 4-5am apparently that's when they are out "walking". Not too many people out during that time. Not even many cars drive by then. Only problem is, I'd have to be home for that. I do like the stick idea and I did get some OSU duct tape for Christmas. That would make for a strange news story.
  17. Just go to the tech republic web site and watch one of the web casts on internet security, then someone from sonicwall will e-mail you and not leave you alone. I did get a lot of useful information from that guy, the products they have really are the best bang for your buck. I don't go to tech republic anymore. I didn't ask for more information but I sure got it.
  18. By local, I meant I think I've seen them walking around the 'hood. The girl was wearing a jacket with a hood and the guy had a ball cap and a Titains coat with some sort of black stripe on his pants. Both were white. The guy was medium to heavy build with that line of a beard trimmed around the jaw line. The Girl looked pretty skinny and I know I've seen her walking around. I think they live close by, I don't know them but I'm sure I've seen them. They didn't know they were on camera because they milled around for 5 minutes and looked at the porch with 2 camera's on it more than once. There have been a lot of garage and house break in's this year, most of the people that live around me now have guns on their person most of the time. (and CCW for those that would ask). I'll just get more and better camera's. I'm thinking about putting a sign under my security system yard sign that says video recording or the more funny "Smile, your on camera".
  19. I've met a few in the years that I've been jumping. Everyone seemed pretty normal (to me) I also have asked some of my black friends and co-workers if they wanted to go and jump with me. I was told "We don't do that sort of thing, that's a crazy white people sport." I'll tell them I know people that jump and are black, they say the people I know must be mixed or grew up with white people. I think something about both feet on the ground and going to church was in there also. I still like to ask because I always get a funny (to me) response. It is always pretty much the exact same response.
  20. She now has the video with application ready to burn, all she had to do was put a CD in. I'm 477miles from home right now, so I can't do it. I hope that I don't have to do it when I get home. She also has the report number. I told her to contact them with the other S/N and let them know she has the video. I told her if she got the video to them that they would maybe know the people in it. What I should do is post pictures in my front yard and show the video to the people on my block, they would take care of it. Also I should post the video to Youtube. But that is not the right thing to do. On the bright side, she parked in the garage. (The glass won't be replaced until Wednesday.) Insurance got her a rental car, I don't know if that was the best move but that IS why we pay for that extra coverage. Edited because I'm a retard and can't spell "the".
  21. It usually is not in sight. It is taken down and put away somewhere in the car. Recently with the holidays she has been taking them out and with her. She forgot last night. I do have the S/N's the XM S/N has been reported, we just found the GPS S/N. We have the video and the people look local.
  22. I like to say that I live in an OK part of town on a good block, but I have 2 camera's out front and 1 in the back. Also I was getting ready to buy 2 for the back of the garage. So maybe I don't live in a good part of town at all. I went out of town for work, from OH ot WI yesterday. This morning at 4:38am 2 guys checked the car out, broke the window, hung out for a minute then got her XM and GPS (Navigon 7100). They checked the goods then went back for the chargers. almost 4 or 5 minutes total. It looks like I may have a few good face shots. Insurance covered the window and GPS but not the XM. XM will send a free one to replace the stolen one. I kind of want to keep paying for the service but use parental control so they only get channel 1 and channel 247. Assholes.
  23. Maybe the spider came with the tree? I have seen tiny wolf spiders jump off the back of the momma spider I was stepping on. Unrelated, here is a St Andrews Cross that hung out on my porch for a few weeks.
  24. It may be Poison Ivy, Oak or Sumac. Go get some Calagel and some technu. Oh, and don't itch it then touch your junk.

    Medical Helicopters

Looking at some other articles, it just seemed to me that there had been quite a few this year alone. I've always thought that is (and would be) a very rewarding job to be a crew member of any type of thing like that. Very challenging for sure.
