I never quite understood what the song is really about, but "5 Miles High" by the Turin Brakes sounds like a skydiving song to me: And I really like the sound, too. Well, I'm a blog-addict, so I've got my Jumplog, which is based on blog-software, and my Skydiving News Site, which is Blog-Like, but they're both in german - as is my everyday blog. I recently found Sector 10 Blog, a weblog about sector 10 of the upcoming rw record. Then, there is qlogger, a site dedicated to special interest blogging. They have a skydiving section (where you get all the fields to publish a real jumplog), but they seem to be down right now. I asked the same question a while ago, and some of the links from the replies are still active! ... and although the site has not been updated in ages, don't miss out on Skybytch's story about the skunk on blogspot. I've got an rss filter on technorati tag "skydiving", am watching Google's blog news regularly, and got some other bots trying to find new skydiving blogs for me - so, if there are any other skydivers' blogs out there, they haven't been tagged right. Not a TM joke either, but on a load with many tandems, the spotter approached the door reluctantly, clinging to the grips, pretended to stumble & "fell" out with a grimace of fear & screaming loud. I laughed so hard (especially seeing the faces of the tandem passengers) that I completely messed up my exit when it was my turn. Another nice show was when a jumper (well, the dzo in fact) asked the pilot on a tandem-heavy load: "Did you remember to fuel this time?" Pilot: "Oh shit, I forgot!" I "lost" my altimeter when a lowtimer on his first attempted 7-way grabbed my hand so hard that it came off. I freed my hand and tracked away like hell. Very strange feelingto be in freefall without an alti - although a mind-sharp co-diver followed me and "held hands" with me - showing me HIS alti until pull altitude (PLUS it was one of my first dives with my audible, so, I really didn't have reason to worry, but I did). Someone has the video of this jump, showing my alti getting lost - and I kind of cherish the thought that it lies there somewhere in the tunisian sand waiting to be found... oh well, the joy of the "firsts"... Hah! I always thought that I was the only one with this problem. It was a serious issue with my boyfriend, cause he wants to be able to look at a clock whenever he wakes up. He's replaced all watches by electronic devices meanwhile. I also hate every kind of noise except steady noise (like a river), but I can't sleep with earplugs either because they make me feel I won't hear the murderer in case he comes for me. Light keeps me from sleeping too, don't like sleep-masks for their rubber-bands. I've found a cure for that; a (clean) black sock over my eyes keeps the light out perfectly. And I can't sleep on my back. No special reason; when I lie on my back, I just stay awake. Probably forever. Jump # 35. Rather boring and still kind of embarassing: First jump with handdeploy after all that ripcord training. I just couldn't find the ball. (if you like to read german, here is the story with all the excitement from the day it happened). What's strange about it is that I still feel like my first reserve is in the future. Because that wasn't a "real" reserve - It was a no out situation, and I still don't know for sure if I can recognize a bad canopy and react accordingly.I _think_ I can (or else I would stop jumping), but I don't _know_. Two things that always help me: Jumping Singing with my Band [& to some extent, sex - if it is good sex; and, back in the days, smoking illegal substances, but that's so long ago I hardly remember the feeling ] So, just give me a plane or a microphone, and everything is gonna be aaaallll right!
