  1. Nor was the murderer in the Zimmerman case, as a court of law determined. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  2. zzzZZZzzz. Thanks for your logically fallacious contribution. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  3. That's exactly what I remember, which is why I described the response as a "cacophony of 'raaacist'". People thought what they thought because pols, public figures, and the media played up the whole racial angle. Not so in this case. Hence the double standard I , and Limbaugh, referred to. I'm not saying I want to see the Chris Lane shooting turned into a reverse-Zimmerman case, but I do find the silence from the race-obsessed crowd quite curious and worth noting. 4. The point I intended to illustrate by starting this thread is exactly what Limbaugh is talking about. There is a double-standard being exercised, and many people are endeavoring to expose it. A "white" guy shooting black guy results in a left-wing cacophony of "raaaaacist" before any of the facts come to light, but a black guy shooting a white guy is met with a resounding "meh". I don't care who the shooter hates or if he was racist, nor does Limbaugh, I bet. Actions are what matter, not thoughts. These thuglettes could be as racist as Robert Byrd, but what needs to be decided is whether they murdered a man or not. The racial double-standard (again, the real point of this thread) is tangential to the murder itself and is a bone to be picked with the media and certain liberal politicians and public figures. 5. Well that was an easy call. No wonder the race hustlers are keeping quiet. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  6. Sure enough, you are correct. I swear that page I linked has more photos now than it did when I first read it. Or I just missed the white kid's pic. Thanks for the correction. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  7. So why do you support them? Just because it might have slowed the kids down doesn't mean it's right, quade. Edit: Ah, I see you took them off the table. So anything that might slow the kids down except the threat of execution, then. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  8. So now you're in favor of capital punishment for minors? And since we're dealing in possibilities in this thread, it's also possible that quade wants speed limits reduced to 5mph. That would have, quite literally, slowed the kids down. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  9. Mmmmhmmm...yet you feel confident enough to make the tortured mental leap, based on these "possibilities", that I want evil kids to have guns. Please. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  10. I like how you're basing your arguments on nothing but conjecture: "we don't have the details, but", "I might decide", "could be a perfectly legal gun", "it's entirely possible it was a gift from one of the kids' dad or mom". How can anyone argue against your imagination? Granted, you might be right on any given point, but there's no evidence yet that we have found to say one way or another. 11. Whatever blows your skirt up. Make sure to leave some space in your diary between that and Sarah Palin asking for an extra pillow mint at her hotel...I don't think her evil shenanigans are over, yet. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  12. Quade has the genuflecting to the altars of gun control pretty well handled in another thread. Here, though, let's see how long it takes for a) Obama to say that if he had sons, they'd look like these three thugs; b) sonograms/toddler pics of the murderers to be widely circulated; c) the race pimps to take to the streets lifting every voice for Chris Lane. Edit: Forgive my haste. Here is the article showing pics of the victim and the alleged perps. One white man vs. three black teens. 13. And, like the brilliant flash of a lighting bolt fading into the darkness of night, quade's epiphany was gone. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  14. Since you describe the kids as "evil" and not the guns, you at least understand that it's the person and not the tool that is responsible. Welcome to the logical side of the debate, quade! Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  15. Indeed. Didn't stop your knee from jerking, though. Probably going to turn out to be a problem with parental competence moreso than with guns. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  16. From the article: "The tragic and internationally embarrassing news out of Oklahoma should shame the state's senators into showing some support for background checks." Does the author know what a background check is? How would it have helped? Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  17. Ya And not carrying a spare tire will keep your tires full of air Me me me! And having a sprinkler system won't put out that fire any faster. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  18. Ah. So your point depends on a magic wand being waved and all the unjustified violence and the need for justified responses to it disappearing. Guns are just a side issue, it seems. It's a pleasant thought, but not really one that can be argued over in a practical sense. No need to beat my head against a wall trying to convince you otherwise, then. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  19. Okay, let's begin the discussion there. Yes, firearms are designed to end life. My turn to make a point: Ending a life (human or otherwise) isn't necessarily a bad thing all the time. It can actually be a moral, justified, and beneficial action. Your turn. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  20. Pretty much that. Though, I would prefer to say that I need an AR-15 to keep people from killing me by killing them, if need be. Not that I would ever buy an AR. I prefer the AK variants. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  21. So how do you feel about binge drinkers? Or how about people who have a beer with dinner and that's it? Do they get lumped in with alcoholics? Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  22. I'm not sure that's always true. Amy's response and the reaction of the girl's mother's friend seem to indicate other reasons for defining the encounter as a rape, in any case, which makes for a much more intellectually challenging discussion. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  23. Well, sixteen might be younger than the age of consent...so that could come back to bite him, and rightly so depending on the laws. However, from the standpoint of a sexual encounter between a man and a woman, I can't see how this would possibly qualify as a rape. Actions speak louder than words, and saying "stop" sure as hell speaks louder than thinking it. We're only getting one side of the story here, unless you count her mom's "herp de derp a girl has to say yes" friend as a side, also. This girl could have grabbed her friend's dick and put it inside her herself after she got heated up, for all we know. Nice of Amy to immediately pass judgement on the guy, though. 24. Can't wait to get me some of dat Obamacheck. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
  25. right? and to think that people actually voted for the politicians! (wait... you WERE talking about the politicians being animals right?) Yes, amongst other parties mentioned in the story. Provoking a reaction isn't the same thing as saying something meaningful. -Calvin
