  1. Yes I dis also make the Olympic Rings PARASHAPE, also two other PARASHAPES, WALLY and The Volkeswaggen Logo. All three PARASHAPES and Slots 3 are presently at Tuege though I think only Slots 3 has been jumped. More pictures should be available under my profile. Dick Gays D1310.] Hi Dick, at Teuge 11.& 12.10.2008 your Slots 3 was jumped once by Andrew Hilton and the other one was jumped twice saturday by myself. I have bought mine back in the eighties from Barry Jeffries, by that time Master Rigger at RAPA Bad Lippspringe (not Lippstadt) and so far we put about 145 jumps on it (out of which it malfunctioned 8 times in the beginning). Bill Sharp, Norbert Meier, Meinhard Josupeit and Dirk Mehrmann, just to name a few, enjoyed jumping it. The pack volume is minute - the sink rate impressive - it easily fits into a 150 container. Last lift saturday night we decided to do a demo straight in front of the bar as shown on that video. The three individuals from the left are Michael Rast (Paracommander) from Skydive Soest-Germany, Ludwig Schmude (Slots 3) and Bill Sharp (Papillion) both from RAPA Bad Lippspringe-Germany (a DZ from the British Forces in Germany). On sunday the weather was not that good - so your PARASHAPES could not be jumped. Overall that weekend a lot of different old round & squares were displayed - check out "vintage weekend teuge 2008". Later on Henny Wiggers had a go at your slots 3 aswell. Thanks again Henny for your work to organise everything and run it safely ! No reserve rides or injuries, only one off landing ! 2. Hi everybody, -----Moneywise : BPA - insurance is about 51,20 not 63 GBP ------- I am afraid I put down wrong figures : It is not 51,20 but 51,72 GBP plus tax (2005) ! The prices for the DFV membership and insurance are inclusive tax. Prices are from 2005. Sorry. Please excuse my english, Ludwig Schmude Chairman Paderborn Parachute Club BPA Member since 1982, D 4990 Parachute Rigger and Instructor Delegate to the German Parachute Association ---Your mind is like a parachute, it works much better when its open -------
  3. Quote Saying they get much better cover for £50/year compared to £112 isn't really fair. The £112 also includes BPA membership and the magazine, IIRC the insurance component is £63. I think the worry is that this will increase our costs in two ways: firstly it will reduce the number of BPA members, so the costs of running the organisation will be spread over fewer people. Secondly, a german jumper could claim against a BPA dropzone's insurance, even though they are not contributing to that insurance. --------------------------------------------- Hi everybody, if you are for example a dog owner and you take out a third party insurance in case that dog one day goes luny and bites someone, do you expect that victim to be in the same insurance company and club ? Not sure about you, but me definetly not. Moneywise : BPA - insurance is about 51,20 not 63 GBP DFV membership per year is 42,49 euro/29,15 GBP, DFV insurance is 59 euro/ 40,49 BP. So its 101,49 euro/ 68,62 GBP total, incl. the german parachuting magazine aswell. If you want to take out seperate insurance, as you are free to choose, you find it in the range from 45 - 90 euros/ 30,87 -61,75 GBP on the market. On the market : There are different companies around willing to insure us. But that is not the point : The point is we are insured. And for me, I don´t like to pay out two, three or even more times. I just wonder, how comes that in the UK there are different car insurers ? Surely with the logic the BPA was using, all that is neccessary in the UK would be one company only. Because only then everybody would be paying into the pool and everybody will be happy ? I don´t believe that ! As long as you have all in one group and they start claiming against each other, the insurer can never "save" money by fighting the claim of one, because at the end of the day they have to pay either of them anyway. And what are you going to do when you take your car / parachute outside the UK ? Are you expecting every other nation jumper to accept your (UK) insurance cover ? Or are you willing to pay extra for each country you cross in Europe/ or the world ? --- Opening the can of worms ---- Ever since the first of April 2005 the limit went down to 100.00 GBP/ 160.000 euros, I wonder how many DZ operators nowadays start worrying about Brit jumper being properly insured abroad ? A premature handdeploy on exit taking the plane down, or a midair collision with someone in hospital for 3 month ? 100.00 GBP ? The german/ DFV insurance has been valid worldwide for years, no exclusions, that is including UK. Please excuse my english, Ludwig Schmude Chairman Paderborn Parachute Club BPA Member since 1982, D 4990 Parachute Rigger and Instructor Delegate to the German Parachute Association ---Your mind is like a parachute, it works much better when its open -------
  4. Hi everybody, to get this one straight : Only german nationals, living in Germany more than 6 months per year are covered when going abroad with this insurance. It is not valid if you as a ... national take it out and expect it to cover you anyway outside Germany. This is like the american insurance, when you go to the States you can to take the USPA one out for the time there, but it is no good to you in any other country in the world. And the same with the BPA - HSBC insurance, if you as a foreigner want to claim on it in say France, thats what they will tell you, a fact most people seam to ignore. Only if you are a british passport holder you are covered outside the UK for up to 100.000 british pounds / 160.000 Euros. Whereas we as german nationals are covered worldwide for up to 1.000.000 Euros. Worldwide, that does include the UK. As an german instructor I pay about 40 Euro on top, and as a parachute rigger the same amount. Any questions ? I am happy to answer, Please excuse my english, Ludwig Schmude Chairman Paderborn Parachute Club Germany Instructor Parachute Rigger Delegate to the German Parachute Club about 2800 jumps since 1982 .... your mind is like a parachute, it works much better when its open ....
  5. Hallo everybody, I am from Germany and an jumper since 1982. Lately we have come up with the question how many disabled persons have started jumping / tandem or solo. So far mainly we have heard of jumpers who allready been trained up before they had an accident or disease, or people who were taken on tandem. Does anybody got trained and how and is willing to share the knowledge about it ? We are trying to gather info of what to look for and who can be trained up even though been handicaped from start. For example has there ever been a blind first jump candidate ? How did they do it ? Please excuse my english and thanks for your help cu, Ludwig ... your mind is like a parachute : ..... it works much better, when it's open ...
  6. Hi Stefan, that is good to hear the news from you. Does this apply to any of your harnesses and reserves ? Does this also superseed the limits given by your company in the years before 2005 ? And finally, did you inform the german riggers/ customers about that change ? As far I know there was no notification done, but it will surely come, won´t it ? cu, Ludwig ... your mind is like a parachute : ..... it works much better, when it's open ...
  7. Hallo Marcin, that was quoted as "Manufacturer Statement" in the "Repack- und Inspectionscycle Stand 12.12.2003 - Ausgabe 02" by the Verband unabhängiger Prüfer von Luftsportgerät e.V., = "Independent riggers of Germany". A straight 15 years max. after d.o.m., no matter what condition and no exceptions. On harnesses, main or reserve canopies. cu, Ludwig ... your mind is like a parachute : ..... it works much better, when it's open ...
  8. No. Before and after 2001 Paratec canopies and harnesses had a maximum life of 15 years from date of manufacture on it . I ran in a big argument with Stefan Ertler, the owner of Paratec, when I started questioning that limit which he was a proponent of. Only in November 2002, after 2 years of hard work we finally succeeded (against Stefan) in abolishing this 15 year rule that prevailed in Germany since the 1960´s. ( It would have been nice to know your information whilst we were fighting this 15 year rule but it was succeded anyway ) So far I have not heard or seen a statement of Paratec allowing longer use than 15 years, that would be new to me. I take it the 275/1/2001 stands for license 275 from January 2001, and even that is way before the change in Germany . german senior rigger, instructor ... your mind is like a parachute : ..... it works much better, when it's open ...
  9. and that´s only thing that makes sense to me, too. In the end it´s my name on that packing card and I have to stand up for it, nobody else.
  10. No, they don´t. Like I said before, all Paratec (and Performance Variable) gear, harnesses or canopies come with a maximum life of 15 years from date of manufacture, no matter what condition they are in. The second hand business, for me that´s an important factor to consider. There was a discussion 2 years ago when the regs in Germany were changed, but both german manufactures decided to keep their old restrictions. Maybe worth noting that a TSE harness, which is produced at the same factory in England as the Next, with the same machines, same thread and the same supervision does not have this limit at all. It´s just the german´s. Have a guess why ?
  11. In Germany there is a legal mimimum for third party coverage of 1.500.000€ since 01.08.2002. What about the other european countries ?
  12. that´s right, do something about the leg straps before it starts gettin heavy. Please note that Paratec and Performance Variable ( both are german manufacturers ) limit their gear to a maximum life of 15 years from date of manufacture. No matter what condition they are in, you have to bin them !
  13. Hi, I just read on the BPA homepage that there insurance cover it drop from 2 million pound sterling (2.9 million Euro) to 100.000 (145.000 Euro) if jumping on non affiliated DZ. I allways thought that the european law asked for a 1.5 million Euro minimum coverage. Ever since july 2004. Any comments ?
