Let this crappy week end already Lets get some jump on
-
All valid points, and I thank you for bringing them up. Not one of the dives you describes as serious mentioned competition 4 way. What are your feelings about internal clock etc on those kind of skydives?
-
Well technically Shiner Bock and Shiner Blonde are different beers. ANYTHING with Shiner at the front that advertises as Beer is GREAT! BUY LOTS
-
So what's beyond that?

I've seen this before. I'm usually all over the techno gadgets, but this is definetly not where the military will end up. This is going to be for some sort of civilian engineering / excavation work, or possibly for those who for medical reasons can no longer walk on their own.

Kyle dude! Got your message. What dates are you in town again? We will definetly make the tunnel. If you are going to be in town on a Monday we need to go to Meeker Monday. Christy organizes it. GREAT deal. You pay 117 and you are guaranteed 10 min. Best part is though that you are grouped up with others for 2 and 3 ways. If they are in there during your time you are in there during their time. I got almost 20 min for my 117 last Monday. I also know a few GREAT coaches out here that would coach very inexpensively. Now back to my search for an attorney and not getting screwed on this ticket. Rich

HWY 5 south about 2 miles prior to PICO. CHP pulled me over. 100 mph. Cop was actually a nice guy. Funny part was that I could have gotten a ticket for not having proof of insurance in the car (I am insured just didn't have it with me). He wrote down the insurance company name, but never asked for the proof or the number. Any help appreciated.

ALLRIGHT DAMINT!!! SkyLord: Consider doing 4 or five graduation jumps... IF your lucky I won't beat the S*** out of you DURING Free Fall Shark: Stand by for some hell as well. Everyone else: Ever heard of letting the chick win to get some points?.... Well, I know that's not what happened, but damn she could drink fast!!!!

Well... I can't believe I'm actually saying this... but. How often did people say not to rely on the alti, but rather on the eyeball when altis as we know them were first becomming popular? How many would now say that your eyeballing technique is superior to the alti on your wrist? I know I used to be of the school that the audible was back up and not to be trusted. I think I'm changing my mind. While some features may not work as advertised on some of this equipment (speed readings, etc) seems to me that the technology is sophisitcated enough at this point that audibles are as reliable as mechanical altis as long as they are properly maintained. If you are doing a serious dive then you really don't have time to be glancing at your alti every few seconds like we teach students. Do I wear both? Yes. Do I trust both equally? Yes. Do I ever go through a jump without glancing at the alti until after we breakoff? All the time. I then focus more on the wrist mount to be honest, and never rely fully on the audible for pull altitude. Just my .02

Interesting, but the email shouldn't ruffle even congressmen's feathers all that much. They (Congress) are authorized oversight only through proper channels as well. Some committees get briefings and others don't. Sharing of SSI information to media sources should be grounds for dissmissal and civil fines.

Anyone know a good traffic lawyer around Laguna Niguel. I was clocked doing 100 on the FWY out here. Can't really afford for a misdemeanor to be on the record while trying to get a TS clearence. I have nothing else on the record. Any free legal advice would be appreciated as well.

Sponsorship Questions and General Manufacturer discussion
rjf98 replied to aubsmell's topic in Gear and Rigging
With canopies... the first thing I would say is that if a customer orders something custom (or otherwise) and you can't get it to them like right now... offer a demo while they are waiting. Might not be the color they want, and it might have a few jumps, but it is the same style and size. Hell put your logo all over it. I'll tell you what Velocity does right. It takes care of it's customers by answering questions and generally making them feel good about their stuff. It helps that Kelly replaced my container free of charge after the fire. I didn't expect it, nor would I expect it in the future, but taking care of me like that endeared me to him and that company. Charging people to put your logo on their stuff. I really think that is sick and wrong, and I won't pay extra to advertise for anyone. Now, you want to go and give me some sort of discount to put your name all over my stuff, or even charge me to not have it.. well that's ok with me. The other thing done wrong is poor estimation of delivery times. To know you're going to wait 8 weeks is one thing. To be told 8 and wait 12 just plain SUCKS! Kinda tricky I guess. If I had the "right" answer I'd make you pay me money to come up with it. I think some sort of automatic discount for instructors would help (of course you'd want to put your name on the stuff and that would just be part of the understood deal). I know there isn't a piece of gear one in scuba diving that instructors can't get a discount on. I'm sort of torn on this because I have talked with some long time instructors, and I understand my duty to be honest with students and not speak from a strictly sponsored perspective. I suppose if one company did it.. most others would follow. You'd want to put some sort of limit on this as well so that instructors wouldn't be undercutting your dealers. Not really. The fact that the stuff is TSOd says it all for the most part. Electronic stuff on the other hand needs to be more open about what goes on inside the piece of equipment. Skydivers talk to riggers all the time as well, and the community has plenty of 10 lb heads that can analysize this stuff. It annoys the crap out of me to pay the money Airtech charges for a battery that should be able to be purchased in Wall-Mart. Gotta agree with the Bytch. It's the people A final suggestion (and if you decide to do so, I want credit... seriously). When you take an order.. keep the customer well fed with information about the progress of the order. Almost EVERYONE has emal. If it's a canopy or container. Send photos when the material is cut, and during the sewing process. Don't be apologetic about it having to sit on a shelf and wait in a que. Let the customer know that is what is happening. Weekly updates prior to the weekend with photos of the stack of paper getting smaller, or the partially constructed canopy will keep people happy and creat excitement and not resentment. My two cents. -
If you're scared say you're scared. Since you missed 'em

Laid off. Downsized. Displaced. Freakin' ditched.

GI Bill can be for any certification program that the VA decides is ok. If we could get USPA to call up the MGIB folks and talk to them about an AFF instructor track and a Tandem instructor track you could use it for vocational education. Hell you can use it for pilot training if you already have your private pilot, so why not skydiving instructor if you already have your C license???? I really wanted to use that for my AFF but didn't have the time to make it work. You might ACME? -
Another fine looking infinity.

Well you didn't run it by me. Let me take a look at you packing it next weekend, or ask Sharky to take a look. We both jumped spectres for a while (the same on actually). Specres are known for sniveling. It's a good thing for those that want soft openings, or if your Jay Stokes trying to set a world record and doing H&Ps right at 2000 feet :) If you don't roll the nose, and don't wrap the tail as much it tends to speed up the openings. Also, don't clover leaf the slider and pull it over the nose, just get it down the center. Do these things one at a time. See what happens with each jump. You definetly don't want to do them all at once and have it slam you. Another option is to look at the length of the bites on your line stows (although not directly related to the snivel). Grasshopper is a rigger / packer and could be a good resource, but any of the instructors will hook you up with some good advice.

Some of the student rigs we are using (the adjustable javs like the ones darcy is talking about) were causing the same problem with a couple of other students. The three rings were on the top of their shoulders and the chest strap came up so high on opening it caused the radio to smack them in the mouth. This sounds counter intuitive, but. I adjusted the harness shorter. That's right shorter. It pulls the front of the harness down, and moved the chest strap and three rings down with it. After that they were fine. The didn't need to sinch up the leg straps so tight, and it pulled the container higher on their back so their PC would be more in the small of the back rather than on their butt. Might want to look into it.

Welcome back man. Rich

I'm starting to get it. Well, no. But I had fun.

Love your story telling girly. I would never to come to laugh with you only at you.... Other way around sweetheart. Sorry I didn't get to see you from the beginning it would have been nice to see your progress. Tunnel has been fun for me.. as well as an expensive addiction. -
Silly girl. She's not in the plane yet. Obviously she intends to suit up before she gets in
-
You won't be dissapointed. Price, delivery time, customer service, all top notch (I would even offer best in the business). Maybe you could argue that a Dolphin was less expensive. Any option you could want is there (no skyhook yet). The design is flawless IMHO. I am now on my second infinity. I would be on my first if it weren't for one hot night in Elsinore Thinking of getting my wife a new container, and you can bet that no matter when I do it WILL be an infinity. Kelly: Want to sell stock? or maybe future options like bonehead does?

Is drinking beer and watching video your idea of WORK jumps

How about SD Aggieland. Nice outs. Great big landing area on a non busy airport. Great College town atmosphere. Nice Twin turbine BEECH 99. Aggie Dave, Turtlespeed, and RJF98 for all the ladies to admire Seriously It's a very nice place with lots of ammenities not too far away as long as you can ignore some of the locals (turtlespeed and Aggie Dave that is)

National guard works for the federal government and not the state. Precident already shows us that when push comes to shove (state's will vs federal government's will) they follow the orders of the president and NOT the governor. That however is for another thread. Do you believe that people should be responsible for their own actions? What about their own lack of action or preparation. ... So now we have the real issue for you. You are afraid our government is going to turn on the people. Enough said. Uhhh No. I never said that. Didn't mean to imply it either. I only brought out the first part of the ammendment because you did. To say that the National Guard constitutes the "well regulated militia" and it purpose as defined by the 2nd ammendment doesn't fly with me. That's all. -
Yes, then cool states like AZ and NV could have some ocean front property. El Paso would be even closer to the West Coast beaches. Quick everyone out here!
